Destiny
"Jet! I'm off to work," an ecstatic blue headed surgeon walked towards the door with a radiant smile. "Wait up babe!!" Jet came out running in only a towel covering his lower regions. His toothy grin would probably make anyone wonder what he was thinking. He ran so quick that he almost caused Levy to fall by crashing into her. Jet made sure to support her small fragile body with both his hands as he scooped down for a passionate kiss. It was the perfect kiss that would have led to other events proceeding, but Levy didn't allow it. "Jet, I am going to be late. Save it for our honey moon." The blue head playfully punched him in the chest. "But babe, I want you now..." He leaned in for another kiss, but Levy placed her small pearl hand in front of his mouth. "I am going to be late and so are you. Go put on some pants hubby to be." Jet laughed at her remark and stood her up straight. "Alright. Alright." Satisfied, Levy picked up her purse that had ended up on the floor after the collision. "Good, now go..." She was caught off guard by Jet's lips on hers and his hands on her waist. "Yeah I get it, now go to work." Now Jet was the one responding and making himself seem responsible, well somewhat. He shortly sped to their room with a big smile on his face. For a second the five foot tall Levy was just standing there, but then smiled. He is definitely the love of my life, Levy thought as she left their apartment.
Later that Day
Levy worked her eight hour shift without lunch to try and get home as soon as possible. Getting home to her fiance always made her day, and today was no different. She rushed to her red convertible and ignited the engine, but before she could pull out of her reserved parking space, Angie, her sister, knocked on the passenger's seat window with a sympathetic smile. Levy rolled down the window so there was no barrier between them. "Hey Levs," Angie sounded like she had terrible news, but Levy didn't notice it. "Hey. What's up big sis," She answered with glee and try to mask the fact that she just wanted to go home to her future husband. "Can I get in. I... I need to show you something," the voice that Angie was using scared Levy since it hinted worry. The short girl nodded and starred at her with a lot of curiosity. Quickly and quietly, Angie took her phone out from her red velvet purse and put in her pass code, 0-5-1-2.
The first thing that came up was a Facebook profile. As the matter of fact, it was Jet's timeline and it looked like he was tagged in a series of eight pictures. It took Levy a second to see that it was Jet with another woman. He was in his suit he had set out to wear that morning for his court case. They were holding onto each other as if their lives depended on it while making out on the Jet's desk. The status read:
During office, nothing is better than some time alone with my friends with benefits ;)
A girl named Delia posted. Levy didn't want to admit it, but her relationship just sunk to the bottom of her fantasies. Even if she did forgive Jet after an explanation, she wouldn't trust him again; And that's assuming that he does give her a good excuse to who knows how many lies. Levy felt something burn within her. It was a mixture of anger and sadness. Anger because she couldn't imagine how he could do that two weeks before their wedding, and sad because she knows what her next move is going to be. Being a surgeon really puts her in a tranquil state of mind so despite all the sadness banging on her heart, she is able to think straight. "Levs,... are you ok?" Levy turned around to see her concerned sister looking straight at her. The blue headed woman decided to give her a big reassuring smile. "I'm fine Angie. There's nothing to worry about. So, I'll be leaving now." Angie left the car with a slight smirk of her accomplishments that no one is yet aware of.
The roaring engine came to a stop in front of the Waterfall Forest Apartments. As quickly as she could, Levy went inside and packed a small pack. She threw in the most minimum amount of clothes, her small savings jar that contained enough for her to survive for at least two to three years without working, and the golden necklace that her mom had given her for her wedding. She sat down at her writing desk and wrote in her neat script:
Dear Jet,
As of now, I set you free to be whom ever you chose. I never really wanted to tie you down, if that's what you thought it was. So in case it wasn't clear, the engagement is off. Feel free to throw away any or all of my belongings. If you haven't by the time that I already get stable once more, I will come back for it, though I am not sure. Moving on is going to be something very difficult for me, but it was not I whom chose this. It was you. You ruined the possible happiness I had in my life.. I thought we were perfect, I thought we would become one. I was most definitely wrong. Sayonara Jet.
~Sincerely, Levy McGarden
By the end of the letter there were tear stains on the delicate piece of paper that she was tucking into an envelope. Levy began sobbing like a lost child in an unknowing city. No matter how strong she posed to be, this was a hard decision, but she knew that it was for the best. Who would have known that a happy childish morning would turn into a heart breaking afternoon. Levy took off the diamond engagement ring and placed it upon the envelope. With one last look at the solemn apartment, she left towards her mothers house.
It was approximately 7:48 p.m. when Levy checked into a hotel close to her mothers house. She threw herself into bed after a long refreshing bath.
~We're building it up. To burn it back down...~
A loud sound boomed throughout the whole hotel room. While it kept sounding her favorite song by Linkin Park, Levy turned to look at the caller ID on her ringing phone..
'Love <3'
That's all it said with a picture of her ex-love. Hesitant, Levy grabbed her phone and pulled it up to her chest. She began visualizing all the good times she has had with Jet and all the great times they were going to have after they got married. Her heart once more felt like it was being squeezed; Like it was being drained from its last bit of happiness it contained. Soon enough the song stopped. One minute later, she received a notification that there was one new voice mail.
Levy decided not to hear it at that moment, since he would probably use words that would make her want to go running back into his arms. She already promised herself that she would be strong and not go back to his lying ass. It took her a while to settle back down on the hard hotel bed. She turned off the volume of her cellphone and drifted into a deep slumber.
The petite blunette was awoken by the rays of sunshine running over her face, by the beautiful melody of the love struck birds of spring, and the smell of the musty hotel slapping her nose. She got up and the first thing she did was go change out of her pajamas she slept in. Her outfit choice was a pair of blue jeans, an orange v- neck, some orange converse, and her lucky orange bandana that her late father gave her for her 18th birthday. Being satisfied with her casual attire, she proceeded to accumulate all the belongings that she took on her little adventure. In the process of packing everything, she casually took a look at her phone and realized that she had 23 missed calls. Assuming they were all from Jet, she felt touched and decided to look at them.
MISSED CALLS:
Mommyyy (9)
Auntie Lidia (2)
Angie (1)
Grand Magic Hospital (3)
Wendy (2)
Unknown Number (2)
Love <3 (2)
Lucy (2)
Levy looked a little surprised to see all of the missed calls that she received. She listened to all of the voice messages that were left -except for Jet's- and realized the most worried was her mom. Quickly, Levy dialed her mom's number. It didn't get to ring for long, since her mom picked up within the first two rings.
^Thank goodness Levy. You're ok.^ You could hear the relief in her voice.
"Yeah mom. I'm fine."
^You had everyone worried sick about you. With no idea where you fled off to and no idea on where to search, me and Je...^
"Mother... please do not say his name." Levy's mom had a hint of concern in her next comment but also the awareness of the events causing everything.
^Levy, the post was taken down and your fiance is looking to explain to you what happened.^
"Look mom, explanation or not he messed up and it hasn't been the first time. On several occasions something similar would pop up, but I would always find a way to forgive him. I love him mom, but all the pain has been gathering and leading to this point. I just can't deal with it anymore. Anyways, I'll be at your house in ten. He better not be there or else you can forget that I'm your daughter." Levy hung up with a straight face. She had meant what she said and will comply with it.
She left the hotel and began driving to her mother's house when she saw a little girl with curly black hair standing on the bench outside of an amusement park. The young girl was being approached by big ugly men. They began surrounding her while the timid girl shook in fear. Levy could not believe how no one saw it. The bluenette parked her car and ran to the little girls rescue. "Oh there you are sweety. Me and your father have been looking everywhere for you." Levy squeezed through the men and hugged the little girl.
"Play along," Levy whispered into the little girl's ear. The little girl nodded slightly and proceeded to hold Levy's hand. The men looked at her and smiled viciously. "Hey girl. Would you like to come play with us for a while?" They asked while yanking her off the little girl.
With the most minimum movement, the bluenette ladder pulled on the man that had a hold of her and tucked his arm inward, causing him to flip over and land face up on the cement floor. "Who's next?" Levy had a smile full of poison directed towards the men. The other two ugly men looked at her with an amused expression. Who would have thought that a small woman like Levy would be able to flip such a big man. The other two began approaching Levy in a quick and aggressive manner. She just stood there ready to make her next move with the small child hiding behind her.
"Hey! What do you freaks think you're doing with my daughter!!??"
Everyone turned to look at a tall man with piercings decorating his face. He had long hair running down his back like a lion's mane and pissed off expression. The small terrified girl's eyes jumped up in joy when she heard her father's voice get closer and closer. When the man got close enough, he took a hold of the two girls' hands and pulled them out of the situation. As soon as they were far enough, they stopped and the man turned around to look at the young girl with eyes full of relief. "Thank goodness Ela. I thought I lost you when I couldn't find you in the car."
"Sorry dad. I didn't hear when you said to stay in the car, so I followed you and then got lost in the crowd. Sorry," she hugged her dad. He comforted the young child and squeezed his little jewel dearly. "Thank you very much for helping my daughter." The girl's father turned to look at Levy. "Uh, no problem. I'm Levy McGarden by the way." The bluenette held her hand out for the guy with piercings to take. Not hesitating, he did. "I am Gajeel Redfox and this is my daughter Ela Redfox."
"Gajeel? As in little crybaby Gajeel from Taekwondo?" Levy asked very and surprised. Gajeel blushed slightly when he also realised the past. "Uh... I have no idea what you're talking about." He looked away. "Daddy, is that true?" Ela asked. Dodging the question he turned to look at his daughter and asked, "Do you want to go into the park now?" Levy looked at Gajeel with a suspicious stare. He just responded with a wink and a smile. The two turned and began walking away towards the entrance of the Fiore amusement park. Levy just stood there looking at them for a second before she began walking away. She was at her car when something began tugging on her shirt from the back. It was revealed to be Ela. She had hopeful eyes when she asked if Levy would go with her and her dad to the park. She seemed very excited to have the bluenette join them so she didn't let go. "Well, I don't want to interrupt your family time. What if your mother gets mad if I join you and your father?"
Ela looked down at her feet. "I don't have a mom." Levy was taken back and began to sympathize for the girl. She also knows how it is like to not have one of her parents to guide them, but Levy felt more towards the girl since a young girl having a mother is very essential to growing up. A mother must guide them through the difficulties of being a woman. Levy kneeled down and raised her chin with her small delicate hand. "Alright sweety. I'll join you." The ecstatic little girl jumped up and down while starting to drag her back onto the grounds of the amusement park. It didn't take them long to find Gajeel since he stood out from the rest of the crowd. He smiled genuinely while they all walked to get stamped on their hands.
Ela dragged them all over the park throughout the day with a big smile on her little face. She made them get on the fireball, the ring of fire, the mouse roller coaster, and even the merry-go-round. They would have occasional stops to get some type of snack like cotton candy, a caramel apple, and ice cream. Ela's ice cream fell at one point and got very sad, so Levy gave her hers. They all had a lot of laughing and enjoyment.
The sun began to set and the park's lights turned on, making everything look magical. All the lights danced around so bright and confident with many movements on the rides. The park got more busy at night and there is no question why, because it was gorgeous after the stars paint the sky. Ela began to walk slower and slower, showing hints that she was beginning to get sleepy from all the playing. "Sweety, I think it's time to go home," Gajeel softly announced to his beloved daughter. "One more ride dad... Can we go on the ferris wheel?" Gajeel turned to look at Levy. Searching for some type of approval. She simply smiled and turned their direction to go to the desired ride. There wasn't much of a line but they still had to wait a little while before finally getting on the ferris wheel. When they got on the little cage, Ela made her dad sit on her left side, whereas she made Levy sit on her right side. When they were finally got to the top, Ela was already asleep. She was leaning against Gajeel. "I had a great time today. Thanks for being here for my daughter. She has really been needing someone like you to be here and you know, be like a mother kinda." Levy looked at Gajeel and noticed he was looking out the basket with a slight shy smile, which didn't fit him at all. He looked so big and scary, but really he is sweet and caring for his daughter.
Levy kept starring at the bright lights reflecting off his skin. She examined all his features carefully and didn't notice that her heart was close to jumping out of her chest. Despite all the different things that were going on in her life at that moment, she felt happy. Nothing like she has felt before. Not even with Jet. "Well I kind of..."
~We're building it up. To burn it back down...~
The calm atmosphere broke when Levy's phone rang for attention from a caller. 'Mommyyy' is the tittle that the phone displayed. Quickly she answered and luckily Ela maintained in a deep slumber. "What's wrong mom?"
^Levy!! Where have you been? You said that you would be here in ten minutes, but instead it has been almost ten hours!!^
"Don't worry about it mom. I'm fine. It's just that I had something very important to do and I forgot to call you to let you know." Levy tried to whisper very lightly so Ela wont wake up.
^Oh ok. So when are you going to come see me?^ Levy's mom asked loudly with people talking in the background. She didn't necessarily want to go so she didn't answer with a stern answer like she usually would. "I'll see. Anyways, I have to go mom. Bye." She hung up the phone, even though her mom was starting to say something about her sister and Jet. The ferris wheel had already made several revolutions and it was making it back to the bottom to let them out. They stayed silent for the remaining ride, while Ela snored lightly. She was mumbling some words that sounded like 'daddy', 'mommy', and 'family'.
Gajeel carried Ela when they finally reached the little dock at the bottom. The crowd had already thickened and it was getting hard for Levy to keep up with Gajeel. At a certain point, the people separated them completely. Levy was left struggling to get out of the crowd when a wandering hand grasped her forearm and pulled her out. She was relieved and began taking heavy breaths. She looked up expecting to see Gajeel, but it resulted being the one person she didn't want to see.
"Good thing that I saved you. Right?" Jet smiled with open arms meant for Levy. Instead, she just stood there. "Jet, I have nothing to say to you. So if you'll excuse me..." She turned on her heels and began to walk away with a sharp pang in her chest. "Levs, Please let me explain what happened." The enraged little surgeon stopped and turned to face him. "For what will that explanation work? For you to just do it again, give me a crappy explanation, and we'll continue on with normal lives like nothing happened? No Jet. I am tired of being fooled by you. I'm tiered of competing for your attention. I was supposed to be your top priority, but I wasn't. Instead I was competing for your love with a hoe and that's not true love. Bye Jet." Levy began to once again walk away when the same arm that saved her from the crowd once again held her but this time it was a harsh yank. "I'm not done talking to you Leviana!" He began to raise his voice. "That's not my name you idiot!" She began as well. "But you wouldn't know that since you never paid attention to me!!" With a single jerk, she snatched her arm from his grasp.
"Hey Speedy Gonzalez, why don't you just go back to your bitch and leave me here with my shorty? Unless you want me to introduce you to my little friend," Gajeel stuck his fist in front of Jet's face after appearing out of no where. "And who the f*ck are you?" Jet questioned. With a smirk, Gajeel answered. "I'm the kid you used to bully in middle school." Jet had wide eyes when he realized that the small fragile boy that was easy to pick on, turned into a monstrous guy that's taking away Levy from him and that could probably beat that sh*t out of him rather easily. Levy smiled at his little story and walked in front of him. "Jet... you already lost me. There's nothing you can do now. Let's go Gajeel." The tall man wrapped his arm around the short woman's shoulder and began walking away. "Oh no you don't!!" Jet charged at Gajeel. He didn't do anything though. Gajeel turned around and punched him right in the nose. "Let us be pretty boy." Jet attempted to get up, but instead decided to just lay there.
They walked to the exit when Levy smiled and faced Gajeel. "I'm your shorty?" He looked at her with a smile that delivered butterflies to her stomach. "Yes. Yes you are." He stopped there and took the chance to hug her. Levy didn't hesitate to hug him back. All of a sudden, Levy panicked. "Where's Ela!?" Gajeel laughed and hugged her tighter. "Don't worry about it. She's sleeping in the car and you short stuff, are going to be a great mother for her."
"What do you mean?" Levy blushed. "I mean, will you be my girlfriend?" He smiled with a hint of blush as well. Nodding excitedly they held hands and walked to their own cars and driving to Gajeel's apartment.
This, was truly DESTINY...
Why greetings lovely warriors. I deeply apologize for this late update. I know that I promised it on new years, but you all know how new years gets. To compensate my late update, I made this one-shot with lots of spirit and I will have another one-shot continuing the plot in which Levy and Gajeel move into a house together and drama surfaces when Ela's mom comes back into the picture. So I hope that you all enjoyed this work of mine. Disclaimer: I do NOT.. I repeat, do NOT own any of the Fairy Tail characters. They belong to Hiro Mashima and his team of awesome people. Once again sorry for the late update and thank you for accompanying me on my journey of being a writer.. Have a lovely day and do NOT forget to smile!!!
