Hibiki notices Lucy is down. He can tell.  This is because he has known her for the longest time he can remember.  He met her in grade school. He remembers how sad he was when she left town after he father's job promotion during their sixth grade year.  He also, recalls how she told him over the phone two years later she was dating someone.  He tries to be happy for her as he wants what is best for his dear friend.  He is jealous of whoever this guy is that dates her just the same.  

       Now fast forward to senior year of high school, Hibiki thought for sure, he would not see her again. Why should he see Lucy Heartfilia after all this time?   It is not like she has a reason to come back.  He figures there no sense in the hope for this. Not anymore when by now she has probably forgotten all about him.  He enters the class room the first day of senior year and to his surprise he sees her!  

        The new girl, it is her!  Hibiki is sure of it!  He would recognize that lovely blonde hair, set of brown eyes, small lips, and cute shoulders anywhere. He would be able to tell it was her from a mile away just because of how adorable she is even now. He could tell she was shorter than him by two whole inches, that she was sweet as ever and that she was sad. He just knew it to be true.

      "Lucy, what is the matter?"  Hibiki ask.

     "Well, it just that my boyfriend found out I was moving here and he broke up with me. Now what do I do?"  Lucy wails.  

      "Oh, I am so sorry, Lucy!"  Hibiki says. He does his best to try to comfort her.  

     "Hibiki, is that really you?"  Lucy says as she brushes the fresh set of tears away.  She cannot believe her old friend was the first one to see her cry.

     "Yes!"  Hibiki says.

     "Well, it is so good to see you again!"  Lucy remarks.

      "Same here!   I mean it has been awhile since we last spoke."  Hibiki remarks.

     "Yes, it has indeed.  I never meant to loose track of you." Lucy says. Her voice seems different somehow than he remembers.

         "Oh, do not worry about it.  Besides, you are back now so we have plenty of time to catch up!"  Hibiki says.

       "Yes, we sure do, I mean if it is okay with you."  Lucy says.

      "Sure, it is okay!  I mean it is more than okay, it is just fine and dandy!"  Hibiki tells her.

         "Glad to see you have not changed a bit.  Sure you are taller than when I last saw you, but other than that you are the same old Hibiki."  Lucy says.

          "Yes, well I could say the same to you."  Hibiki says. He does not know why, but suddenly he feels nervous around her.

           One week later, Lucy's friends are speaking to her in the hallway when Hibiki runs past without a word and heads straight for the classroom.  

        "Whoa, what was that about Lucy?"  Juvia ask.

       "Yes, did you two have a falling out?"  Levy wants to know.

        "I must say a certain someone has his eyes on you Lucy."  Ezra retorts.

        "What?  Who me?  There is no no way anyone likes me."  Lucy says. She thinks that her friends are just being plain silly.

            "Well, then that does not explain your seat!"  Levy says.

             "What about it?"  Lucy remarks.

           "Why do not you go sit down and find out?"  Juvia says as she pushes Lucy in the direction of the classroom.

                Lucy enters the room and sits in her desk.  She still does not see what the big deal is about anyway.  She looks up to see the look of disapproval the teacher gives her. 

              "Miss Heartfilia, I might need to remind you since you have only been here for a week that flowers are not allowed in my class. No expections!  Now, get them to your locker on the double!"  Miss Cana says.

             "Oh, sorry!  Right away, Miss Cana!"  Lucy says. She stands up, gathers up the roses, and leaves. She goes to her locker, unlocks it and gently places the flowers on the top shelf. She cannot help, but wonder who sent her flowers?  She hurries back to class and sits back down in her desk.

        The teacher smiles when she sees Lucy was so quick to correct the situation.  She thinks, perhaps, Miss Heartfilia will make a fine student here indeed.  She begins the lesson soon after Lucy is back at her desk.

         Later after class, Lucy begins to wonder all the more than before who the sender of the roses could be?  It is not like she knows anyone who could have a crush on her!  

         Levy, Juvia, Ezra, and the others laugh as someone approaches Lucy. They can tell by the look on his face that he intends to ask her to the upcoming dance!  They think the situation to be funny!  

          "Hey, what is so funny?"  Lucy ask. Her hands are on her hips as she tries to figure out what is going on with them all.

          "Hey, Lucy!"  Hibiki says.

           "Oh, Hi, Hibiki!"  Lucy says.

          "So, do you have a date?"  Hibiki ask.

          "I beg your pardon?"  Lucy replies.

           "What I meant is do you have a date to the dance?"  Hibiki ask her.

                 Juvia, Ezra, Levy, Wendy, Romeo, Gajeel, Gray, etc.  stand close by to see what happens next.  They have not seen this much drama since the class hamster had babies!   

               "H-Hibiki, I ...I uh, well, you see the  thing is I do not do so well at dances."  Lucy says.

              "Oh, do not be silly, I am sure you will do just fine."  Hibiki remarks.

                "Well, does this mean you need a date?"  Lucy blurts out. She sees his face turn red and wonders if she said the wrong thing.

                 "I was kinda hoping that you...I mean, Lucy, will you go with me to the dance?"  Hibiki blurts out.

              "Me?  Go with you?  I  mean you want me to go with you to the dance?"  Lucy says in surprise.

           "Yes, but if you do not want to go it is o..." Hibiki says.

           "Sure, I would be happy to go with you to the dance!"  Lucy says.

             "Wait, you would?"  Hibiki says.

           "Sure, I mean it would be fun to go with  a date!"  Lucy remarks.

               "Uh, did you like them?"  Hibiki says out of the blew.

                "Like them? what do you mean?"  Lucy ask.

                   "you know, the roses?"  Hibiki says.

                     "Oh, that was you? wow, I mean the roses were so pretty and you gave them to me!  This is amazing!"  Lucy says. She hugs him.

                    Hibiki smiles as he hugs her back. He thinks, yes she said yes!  He grins even bigger!

               Time skip to the day of the dance...

                     Hibiki and Lucy attend the dance together.  When they arrive they see Gray with Juvia, Levy with Gajeel, Natsu and Lisanna, Romeo and Wendy, Ezra and Jellal and Miss Cana with the principal.  They also see Yokino is with some dude that has bright green hair, while Zeref is with Mavis, and finally Loke is with his cousin, Lala who could not find a date.  Everyone has a blast!  

                    All the couples dance with their dates.  Towards the end of the dance, Hibiki and Lucy walk forward to receive the prom queen and king awards!  They are taken by surprise that they won!  

              Then, after this Hibiki drives Lucy home.  Before he leaves, he walks her to the porch, and says, "Lucy, I love you!"  He sees tears fall at his confession. 

              "Lucy, what is it?" Hibiki ask. 

               "I am just so happy!  I love you too!"  Lucy says. She smiles.

                 "You do not know how much that means to hear you say this!"  Hibiki responds. He pulls her close, and closes the gap between them as he gently kisses her!   Lucy wraps her arms around his neck and kisses him back.
