45. The Crash

"Hey scary fella! You gotta wake up! Oi!"

Gale grunted as Sammy frantically shook his body. "W-What the hell happened?" He whispered as he held onto his pounding head.

"We crashed, dude. Like the airship just went BOOM!" Sammy explained doing all the necessary hand motions and sound effects to demonstrate the events that had occurred. "And then we all got like flung around and landed away from everyone else. Lucky me and you are together or else it would've been extra scary!"

Gale rubbed his temples. "Ah yes, lucky me." He wasn't sure his headache was from the crash or just Sammy's presence at this point.

"You can fight right? Cause these people are dangerous, man. Like totally hardcore." Sammy said. "I may not look it with all these raging muscles and top-condition physique but I ain't the best at self defence. They'll kill me once they found out I snitched. The Boss'll literally eat me alive. And I can't be dying before I meet the Princess. "

"Would you just shut the hell up!?" Gale shouted. Sammy almost squealed at the sight of Gale's face which was filled with pure rage. Finally in silence, the iron dragon slayer gathered his thoughts. He didn't remember much, only that there was a bright light and then they had fallen from the sky. "I need to tell me something, Sammy."

"Uh yeah?" Sammy replied warily as he scratched the back of his head.

"Who exactly are we up against?" Gale asked more calmly now. "I need specifics so I know what we're up against and I can protect you better."

Back in the airship, Sammy didn't mention specific names, only the location of the guild. He would've said even more if they hadn't fallen out of the sky.

"W-Well, let's see." Sammy looked down at his hands, looking like he was counting something. After a second or two, he held up to Gale four fingers. "There's four main guys you gotta worry about. The Boss-"

"That's Lilith, right?"

Sammy nodded weakly. "Scariest lady in the whole of Earth Land. A lot of guy's would call her the hottest lady in Earth Land as well but personally I think Princess Ao-"

"Move on. We don't have time for your stories right now."

"Right! Sorry!" Sammy shook his head and refocused his mind on the subject at hand. "Icarus is a pretty scary dude as well. He wears all black all the time, even in Summer which is a tragedy in itself." He was starting to get off track and when he saw Gale's glare, he quickly recovered. "Then there's June, she's the one who controls production. Oh yeah and Calix, he's actually a pretty cool dude but yeah still bad guy... I think."

Gale raised a brow. Why did he recognise that name?

"Just when I was starting to warm up to your annoying personality, you go and tell the enemy everything." A voice suddenly said catching both Sammy and Gale off guard. "I'm a bit disappointed that you didn't mention my alluring beauty, Sammy."

Sammy scurried behind Gale's shoulder. "Wow! Miss June, long time no see!" He chuckled nervously. "You know I was just getting to the bit where I tell this scary fella about how gorgeous you are."

June was a tall woman with short black hair and gray eyes hidden behind a pair of thick glasses. She wore a long white lab coat and a sadistic grin was spread across her thin red lips.

Her glowing eyes bore into Sammy's causing him to gulp. "I really am glad to be the one to finally rid the world of that aggravating voice of yours."

Gale stood to his feet. "As much as I'd like that to happen..."

"Hey! I helped you!" Sammy barked.

Ignoring him, the iron dragon slayer continued, the magic energy around his body intensifying by the second. "I promised Sammy I'd take him to see the Princess after this is all done and I don't break promises."

Nashi felt like she'd been hit by a train. That's how much her whole body ached. As she laid face flat on the dirt ground, she let out a pained groan. Rolling over, a shooting pain triggered in her left leg.

"W-What the hell happened?" She managed to rasp out. Slowly, she sat up scanning her surroundings. Instantly, her eyes widened in shock. "Oh no..."

All around her were the scattered remnants of the airship which had been completely and utterly destroyed. It was a miracle that she hadn't gotten punctured by the debris. The crackling sound of fire unnerved her. They had crashed right in the middle of a dark forest. That wasn't the only thing that was alarming. As far as her eyes could see, she couldn't locate a single one of her team mates nor could she see any member of Crime Sorciere.

Anxiously, Nashi tapped on the ear piece. "Hello? Can anyone hear me?" She yelled out frantically. "What happened?" When static met her questions, she let out a frustration growl.

Struggling to her feet, she turned around hoping to at least find one familiar face. But she didn't. Instead, she was met by the sight of the smashed airship and never ending trees.

There was one scent near her that was familiar. Only it wasn't Gale's, Hunter's or even Stripper's. No, this one belonged to someone the dragon slayer hadn't expected to see so soon. It was Calix.

The man dressed in his impeccable black suit, brown hair slicked back and green eyes glowing, appeared out of the darkness behind the trees.

"C-Calix?" Nashi squeaked.

The pink haired girl's palms began sweating and her heart raced as she saw the man standing in front of her, face glowing against the moonlight and hands in his pockets. The only thing different was that his warm smile was not there anymore, instead his face was oddly emotionless.

"I'm sorry." He whispered.

Nashi looked at him, a puzzled look on her features. "Sorry for what?" She shook her head. "Wait, why are you here? I'm confused."

Calix looked at the ground. "I have to kill you.

___________

"Quinn!" Storm yelled.

His skin was burning. And not in the kind that way Flame Brain's fire caused. But it was a different sensation, one that hurt like hell. The raven haired boy limped around, clutching onto his side.

"Quinn!" He yelled once again, hoping desperately that she would answer and the unbearable weight on his shoulders would finally be lifted. His voice got weaker with every step he took.

"Storm." It was a bare whisper but he heard it. Storm immediately turned to the source of the voice and found Meredy, who's lower half was buried under debris.

He rushed to her side. With the all the strength he could muster up, he lifted the debris up allowing the pink haired woman to squirm free from under it. Once she was out and safe, he dropped it back down to the ground causing a loud thud.

Meredy groaned in pain. There was no way she was walking any time soon, judging by the state of her legs. "What happened?" She rasped as Storm dropped onto the ground to sit next to her.

"Quinn... the hallucinogen must've messed up her head..." Storm said, his brows furrowed in confusion. Even now, he wasn't sure what had happened. One minute they were taking normally and the next... well, she blew up the airship. "She wasn't thinking straight and then she casted one of her spells..."

Meredy breathed in, trying to calm her frantic thoughts about the wellbeing of her guild mates and the rest of the kids. "Now that everyone's injured, we're all easy prey for that dark guild." She said. "I swear I'm getting too old for this."

"If it makes you feel any better, you don't look a day over 30." Storm looked at the woman with a weak grin. It was his attempt to lighten the mood and it seemed to work as Meredy let out a chuckle.

"I never met someone who got a giggle out of being in a plane crash." Meredy and Storm turned their heads to a man dressed in all black. His beady eyes stared at them creepily, a sinister smirk spread across his black coloured lips. From behind the man, Quinn appeared, the dark veins travelling not only along her arms and eyes but now down her neck. "Pet, go kill those two." The man ordered.

Just like that, Quinn charged at both Meredy and Storm with the fully fledged fury of a dragon slayer.

"Would you stop holding onto my arm?" Luke pulled away from Rose who glared back at him. "Geez, stop being a big baby."

"I'm scared!" Rose shouted at him. "We fell out of a plane, for Mavis' sake."

Luke rolled his eyes. "Yeah, we did and it was EPIC!" He continued forward into the dark forest, leading the way with a look of determination. "I can't believe I'm stuck with you right now. You're such a kill joy."

"Get over it already." Rose said throwing him a glare from behind. The young red haired girl carefully eyed her surroundings. She took caution with every step and subtly kept close to Luke. She made sure not to reach for him this time, to avoid him having another outburst.

Just before the airship had crashed, the two of them were fighting, so when the explosion went off, Rose had quite literally clung to Luke out of fear.

"Hopefully Raiden's okay." Rose whispered, biting her lip.

She didn't miss the slight change in Luke as the boy stiffened at the sound of his best friend's name. Even though, Raiden had been in the same room as them when the airship went down, he didn't land any where near.

"Of course, he's fine." Luke voiced confidently. "A puny plane crash isn't gonna take him down. Now just be quiet and try to look for people."

Just as he said those words, his eyes caught the sight of a particular pink head.

Ultear cursed loudly when she stood to her feet. Her body wasn't in any condition to be moving but she forced herself to move thanks to the threat standing before her.

"Oh what a strong young woman, this one seems to be." Lilith sneered, clutching onto the arm of none other than Jace who stared forward with a blank expression. "Hopefully you're stronger than the blonde at the nightclub."

Ultear clenched her fists, glaring at Lilith. The odds were certainly stacked against her. In her condition and without Nashi to help her, there was no way she was going to win the battle. Her mind dwindled as she thought of the others. Was Crime Sorciere alright? Were her teammates alright? Shaking her head, she freed herself from those thoughts. She had no choice now, this was something she'd have to do alone.

"You're going to regret the day you laid hands on Jace." Ultear seethed, her blue magic aura intensifying around her.

Lilith eyed her. "You actually think you have a chance?" She smirked with amusement. "I have made men kill their loved ones, I won't hesitate to do it again."

"You're a monster." Ultear spat.

Lilith shrugged. "And you're a lonely girl who's about to die at the hands of your friend."

"Hey, old lady!"

Lilith's eyebrow twitched at the uncharacteristic nickname calling directed at her. Out from behind Ultear, a young boy with white hair appeared. There was a gash on his head dripping with a blood and his clothes were ruined with rips and dirt. Even so, he staggered onwards.

With a goofy grin, Raiden joined Ultear's side getting into his attack position. "Ul's not alone."

Erik blinked up at the sight of the night sky. Pain spread across his body rapidly. He was sure he had broken a rib or two and had dislocated his arm. He looked down at his torso where a large jagged piece of metal stuck out. It was lodged deep into him with blood pooling around the wound.

"Fuck." He cursed loudly. Growling, he tried to sit up when a hand on his shoulder stopped him.

"As much as you want to, you know you won't be moving any time soon." It was Alexis' voice talking to him as she looked down on him. "So rest."

"You don't look so good yourself." He hissed scanning her injuries. Her clothes were still bloodstained and even more tattered than before. "The amount of poison in your body... it should've killed you instantly."

Sure that he wasn't going to move, Alexis calmly stood up. "My mom had a saying when she was teaching me how to control my magic." Erik watched the girl as she picked up his discarded Crime Sorciere cloak that had been flung to the side and swung it over herself, covering up her ripped dress. "She always said, poison is a demon's treat. My body is still getting used to that aspect again so it took longer for me to recover."

"If that's the case, you're the best person to be dealing with Jace." Erik said.

Despite his statement, there was something about Alexis that made him uneasy. That dark look in her eyes and aura of cold calculated determination reminded of that troubled girl from two years ago.

Just like him, she had fallen out of that airship and crashed onto the ground and yet she moved easily and without any obvious resistance.

"I'll find Lilith." Alexis said, her words lacking any emotion. Icy blue eyes stared back at him. "And when I do, I'll kill her with my bare hands for what she did to him."
