43. Little Stowaways

Erik had an uneasy feeling resting in his gut. He didn't like the plan one bit. He didn't like the idea of putting his friends' kids in danger in hopes of saving his own but it was their only choice right now. Had there been any other option, he would've gladly taken it.

All they could do was wait now. Wait for the kids to come back, hopefully with Jace or Lilith or information on how to take down that wretched dark guild, Titan Soul.

The old poison dragon slayer took a deep breath in, calming his rage and nerves. Before leaving Magnolia, he had promised Kinana not to lose his temper for Jace's sake.  And like he always did, he listened to her.

He was on his way to his room when voices - belonging to people who certainly didn't belong on the airship - caught his attention.

"Eww, I can't believe you vomited on us!"

"We were cramped in that tiny space for the whole trip, I couldn't hold it in any longer!"

"Don't blame him. It was the motion sickness and I forgot to get the vomit bags from Lily before we left."

Erik turned the corner and was met by the sight of three vomit-covered pre-teens - Rose, Luke and Raiden.

They froze at the sight of him.

Meanwhile...

"Do you think he'd be happy to see you after what happened?" Lucifer asked, as he walked beside Alexis, while fixing up his cufflinks.

Alexis sighed. "Probably not... but there's no use in thinking like that." She forced a smile on her face, ready to face any obstacle that came her way. "Positive thoughts breed positive results."

Lucifer rolled his eyes. "It also breeds false hope." He quipped.

Alexis ignored the comment from the demon and continued onwards.

With her somewhat innocent smile sprinkled with a not-so-subtle death threat, the security guard had allowed Alexis easy entry into the VIP area. She had supposed that since Lilith was an important person, she would be in the VIP area. However, what she didn't expect was to see Jace himself.

Through a strangers eyes, he'd probably look like any other guy enjoying his youth. Jace was dancing, laughing and downing drinks like there was no tomorrow.

It wasn't like him... being so energetic. He had told her time and time again that he preferred sleeping over partying. He preferred sleeping over anything really.

Alexis' body moved on its own, striding over to Jace to his place on the dance floor. Pushing past the sweaty bodies, she finally made her way right in front of him. Without warning, she pulled at his arm dragging him out of the dance floor.

Once they were out, she grasped onto both of his hands firmly.

"Jace." Alexis said softly staring into his violet eyes.

His hands tightened around hers making her heart beat a little too fast for her liking. "Lexi." Her name slurred off his tongue as he smirked down at her.

"I'm taking you home." Alexis insisted.

"I've found true love. I can't leave her." He said, eyes a light with joy.

Alexis frowned. "You have to come with me." She tried once more, soothingly this time. "Please..."

"No."

"Jace, listen-"

Something sinister now lurked behind his eyes. "I already told you." He growled. "I'm not leaving the love of my life." His grip tightened around Alexis' hands, so much so that it felt like he was crushing the bones in them. "Now, if you ask me again-"

"Now, that's no way to treat a lady." The pure seductive nature of the voice made it obvious who this woman was.

"Lilith is in the VIP area, everyone." Ultear's voice said though the Alexis' earpiece.

Alexis' features darkened. "It's you." She seethed. Lilith merely grinned smugly back at her. Had it not been for Jace's tight grip on her hands, she'd have attacked the brunette succubus by now.

"She means to take me away from you, Lilith." Jace said.

Lilith smirked before pressing kiss to the poison dragon slayer's cheek. "Now, we can't have that can we, my love?"

___________

"It wasn't what you thought."

"You don't have to explain yourself to me, Storm." Quinn said with a huff. Leaning against the side of the bar, she crossed her arms over her chest, looking absentmindedly at the ground.

Storm rubbed the back of his neck as the two stood in awkward silence. He hadn't planned to be in such an uncomfortable situation. It was probably best if he just had left her alone but being the idiot he was, he ran after her for some reason.

"So... uh what are you doing here?" Storm started hesitantly.

"Trying to get my mind off of someone that unfortunately decided to show up." Quinn grumbled with a frown. "It looked like you were having a great time with-"

"It wasn't like that." Storm said adamantly, furrowing his brow. "I'm on a mission and I had to blend in... it was the only way to get those girls off my back."

Quinn was silent for a moment before clearing her throat. "If it's a mission you're on, don't let me distract you." She turned her heel, about to walk away when Storm caught her wrist.

"Quinn, I'm really sorr-"

He stopped himself, when the sight of Quinn's arms made his blood run cold. She had dark veins trailing up my forearms.

"What the hell is this?!" Storm shouted, panic rising within him.

Quinn yanked her arm out of his grasp. "What's your problem?" She said backing away from him. "Just leave me alone."

Storm shook his head and grabbed her arm. "No, you're coming with me." He demanded as he started to pull her towards the exit.

The short haired blonde shoved him away. "Like hell I am."

"Please, would you just come with me?" Storm pleaded. "I want to make sure you're safe."

CRASH!

Screaming filled the night club as people started to run for the exit. Quinn and Storm struggled to stay on their feet as at least fifty people shoved their way past them in a crazed panic. When the club was silent, Storm held his finger to his ear piece.

"What's going on? Is everyone okay?" He questioned. "Flame Brain, what did you do?"

"I didn't do anything, Stripper!" Nashi yelled. "O-Oh no you're not a stripper, C-Calix..."

"Who the hell is Calix?" Gale's voice said. "Actually, never mind that. I say we regroup back at the airship."

"I agree with Gale. I need a good change of clothes." It was Hunter talking now.

Storm was confused at Hunter's statement and was about to ask why the guy needed a change of clothes but decided against it. He'd know once he made it back to the airship.

"Ultear, are you there?" Storm asked. He hadn't heard her voice yet and that kept him on edge.

"I'm here..." Ultear said. "I need help... Alexis doesn't look so good."

__________

"It was crazy in there... lucky we got out before getting trampled on." Calix said running a hand through his hair. While people rushed out the club frantically, he hastily escorted himself and Nashi out of the club's back entrance which lead right to the street. "I wonder what happened to cause the panic." He said rubbing his chin in curiosity.

"Yeah... Look, I have to go and find my friends..." Nashi said fiddling with her fingers. "I- uh I had a lot of fun tonight."

Calix smiled warmly down at the pink haired girl. "I did as well. Your dance moves were interesting to say the least." He let out a chuckle and Nashi's cheeks immediately went bright red.

Nashi grabbed a hold of his shoulder shaking it rather aggressively. "You said you wouldn't bring that up again!" She whined.

"I'm sorry, that was the last time I promise." Calix held his hands up in surrender.

Nashi glared at him while pouting like a child. "You better."

Calix chuckled as he met her fiery gaze. Nashi's heart beat even faster when she realised just how close the two were. She hadn't been this close to a boy before... at least not in a non-violent way.

Slowly, Calix raised his hand to her face gently caressing her cheek with his thumb. "You really are beautiful, you know that right?" He said softly. "We should do this again. Only not in a grubby nightclub like Morningstar. Maybe a restaurant?" He proposed.

Nashi's breath was hitched in her throat. "Are you... are you asking me on a date?" Her words were breathless, her disbelief in the situation very much evident.

"Only if you're accepting." Calix took this as his chance to tuck a stray strand of hair behind her ear and Nashi's heart quite literally fluttered. He leaned down close to her ear. "And if we do happen to go on that date, maybe you could tell me your real name as well." He whispered.

He backed away and Nashi was completely dumbfounded. "What do you mean?"

Calix merely grinned. "I think you know what I mean, Nashtalie." He reached into his jacket pocket, pulling out a white card and then handed it to Nashi. The pink haired girl took it into her grasp glancing at it curiously. "It's my number, don't be afraid to call me." He winked at her.

Nashi was stunned into silence. She opened her mouth to respond to him but nothing happened. The feeling was foreign to her. She'd never gotten someone's number before and she never thought a guy as freakishly attractive as Calix would be the least bit interested in someone like her.

"Do you want me to help find your friends?" Calix asked snapping Nashi from her thoughts.

Nashi blinked. "Oh right! I forgot about them for a second." Quickly, she tucked the card away and straightened out her dress. "They're close by so I'll be fine." She reassured him with a shaky smile. "So umm... goodbye." With a sharp inhale of breath, she hastily turned around and quickly scurried away leaving not a second more for Calix to bid her his own farewell.

The man simply smiled as he watched her depart. After a moment, a buzzing sound came from his pocket. A low growl escaped his lips as he pulled out his holding it up to his ear.

"Lilith, you better have a damn good reason for cutting my night short." Calix grumbled.

___________

"And if you so much as glance at the request board again for the next six months, I'll electrocute you so much you won't be able to walk the next day! DO YOU UNDERSTAND!?" Laxus shouted through the lacrima hologram. HIs booming voice seemed to rattle the airship.

"Yes sir." Both Luke and Raiden droned out in union as they looked at the ground rather ashamedly.

Jellal felt a little sorry for the boys after being chewed out so harshly by Laxus. Although he understood the blonde mage's grief. Last time, the two boys had snuck off to a mission they weren't supposed to, it ended it bad injuries and scars - more so for Luke than Raiden.

Glancing down at his daughter beside him, he sighed. He wasn't exactly thrilled that his she had snuck onto the ship as well. He had firmly told her off for doing something so dangerous but couldn't find it in himself to be as ruthless as Laxus.

An angry Laxus was seething, so much so that fumes might as well have been coming from his ears. "Now if I hear that you don't listen to Uncles and Aunt, your punishment will increase tenfold." With that, the hologram immediately cut off and Luke and Raiden let out a sigh of relief.

"Finally, it's over." Luke said.

"Look on the bright side, at least it wasn't our moms." Raiden reassured scratching the back of his head.

Luke shivered at the thought. "That's true, man."

"You heard, Laxus." Erik started, looking down at the two boys. "You listen or you're dead."

"You know Rose snuck away with us as well. Why are we the ones getting threatened?" Luke grumbled pouting like a little kid.

Meredy poked him on the forehead. "Because this is a first for Rose. You two however are serial rule breakers from what I hear."

Rose grinned smugly at the two boy's dismay at the total unfairness. "Yeah, I'm better than the both of you basically."

Jellal frowned. "You're still in trouble, young lady." Rose's smug grin immediately faded.

Just as the discussion was going to continue, Macbeth interrupted.

"Jellal, the children are close by." He informed the blue haired man.

Jellal nodded. "Well, I didn't hear explosions so that's a good sign." He mumbled under his breath.

"What kind of mission are they on by the way?" Raiden asked leaning over Macbeth's shoulder trying to get a good look at the camera footage. "I knew the nightclub opening party was a total sham."

Erik pulled the boy away. "None of your business, now the three of you go to the common roo-"

"Quinn Eucliffe seems to be with them now and one unknown extra."

Excitement flaring in him, Luke ran around Erik and pushed his way to Macbeth's shoulder. "Let me see!"

Rose rolled her eyes. "You still have a crush on Quinn? Everyone knows her and Storm are totally gonna get married." She stated matter of factly.

Luke squinted at the camera footage, seeing something weird. "Wait... who's the girl with the pink hair behind Ultear?" He asked.

Jellal frowned. He thought that Luke out of everyone would recognise his own sister. "That's Nashi."

"WHAT?!"
