32. Stand Your Ground

"Fire Dragon Wing Attack!"

"Fire Dragon Crushing Fang!"

"Fire Dragon Roar!"

Every punch. Every kick. Every single attack.

Nashi's father seemed to deflect or dodge every single one of them that she delivered. The fact that he could eat up most of her attacks didn't help either.

Just how power is he? Nashi thought to herself.

The only thing Nashi was thankful for in this moment was that her father's focus was on her now and not destroying the town or possibly endangering more people.

"You made a mistake for harming my family!" Natsu hissed at Nashi, still lost in the delusion that the Demon's Torment put him under.

Natsu charged at Nashi so fast that she had barely anytime to react. A large mass of fire exited his palms blocking her vision of him. Quickly, she ate up all the fire, only to be met by her father once again who gave her a swift kick to the stomach. The momentum of his kick made her jerk back almost falling to the ground.

"Shit..." Nashi growled wiping the sweat from her forehead. She was getting her ass handed to her. Her eyes widened when she heard a crackling sound... and it wasn't coming from Master Laxus... it was coming from her dad. Both of his hands were engulfed in orange flames; golden lightning crackling around it.

Nashi didn't remember her father telling her about him being able to do that and for that she felt kind of offended. Why would her old man keep something so freaking badass from her!? That train of thought was abruptly interrupted when she recognised the spell he was about to cast.

"Lightning Fire Dragon Brilliant Flame!" Natsu roared.

____________

Gale was not doing well against his father and that was pissing him off.

"Iron Dragon Roar!" A tornado of iron left Gale's mouth and went hurtling towards Gajeel who told the attack head on. He grunted as his father came out of the spell practically untouched and practically not a scratch on him.

This was the unfortunate result of almost all the attacks Gale tried to inflict upon his father. The both of them had activated their iron scales; their bodies now guarded by steel scales so any damage was even more difficult.

It was hard to admit but Gale couldn't ignore that his father had the upper hand. Gajeel was both faster, stronger and more adept in his fighting skills as Gale was. It was a painful truth... but that didn't necessarily mean he was going to give up in trying with every thing he had in him to control his father's mindless rampage. He just had to hold out until the spell ended and that seemed to be taking an annoyingly long time.

Gale charged at Gajeel at full speed. "Snap out of it, stupid old man!" Gale shouted giving his dad a hard punch to the face with all the strength he could muster up. Gajeel went flying back into a building behind crumpling it in the process from the sheer force. "Stay down. Mavis, please make him stay down..." Gale muttered under his breath. He knew his pleads were along the lines of useless but there really wasn't much else he could do. The magic energy in him was beginning to run low and he could feel it.

To Gale's displeasure, his father came out from the rubble of the front of the building and was on his feet in no time.

"Oh for fuck's sake..." Gale groaned.

___________

Hunter could argue that he got the shorter end of the stick. Although as he batted an eye to how Nashi and Gale were doing, they were doing as well as he was... which was down right horrible.

Hunter had given up trying to attack (thanks to him pretty much getting beaten up senseless) so his main objective was to just avoid being struck by lightning or coming too close to the Master's grasp. Activating meteor allowed him to do this. Although time after time, the Master's lightning body was proving to not only match but also be faster than Hunter could even comprehend. It was no doubt that the man was one of the most powerful mages in Fiore.

"This isn't good." Hunter growled losing track of where the blonde haired man was. Hunter was mid air scanning the grounds below him.

"Lightning Dragon Iron Fist."

Out of nowhere, Laxus' lightning charged fist collided straight into Hunter's face; sending the red haired boy crashing into the ground below. The tremendous force from his landing left a shallow crater into the ground.

Hunter groaned feeling the pain spread across his back. He shakily got his feet, trying his best to fight through the pain.

"AHH!" Nashi's body smashed straight into Hunter and once again he crashed into the ground.

"Ugh..." He and Nashi growled at the same time. As they got to their feet once again, Hunter noticed just how bad the both of them looked.

Nashi cracked a weak smile as she looked at Hunter. "You know, this isn't going as well as I thought it would." She commented as she huffed and heaved for air. Like Hunter was in this moment, Nashi was also exhausted.

Before he could respond to her, Gale went flying their way landing relatively close to the two. Both Hunter and Nashi made their way to the boy.

Nashi helped him up. "You alright there, Metal face?" She questioned as he leaned against her.

"No, I'm terrible." Gale muttered. He looked up to Nashi and Hunter who - like him - were badly bruised and had tattered clothing. "Man, we all look so shitty and beat up. It's depressing."

Hunter sighed. "We just have to hold them off you two, and then everything will sort itself out." He said.

"I sure hope it does!" Nashi burst out saying.

"All we need to do is fight for a little longer." Hunter added. He looked to Gale and Nashi to see if they had any objections.

"I still got fight left in me." Gale said standing to his feet with a slight groan. "I can do it. Nashi?" He looked to the pink haired girl who smirked at him.

"Of course I'm not giving up." She said smugly causing the iron dragon slayer to crack his knuckles with a grin on his face. "I'm all fired up!" She cheered, fire igniting in her palms.

Hunter couldn't help but smile. He didn't expect anything else from his team mates. The three of them were too stubborn to admit defeat. Whether that was a good or bad thing didn't really matter in this moment. "Okay let's do thi-"

BOOM!

It wasn't Gajeel, Natsu or Laxus causing the destruction this time. A new figure now emerged from the destruction of a building. Someone who made the three teens' smiles immediately fade.

"Oh shit!" Gale shouted, his eyes wide with fear

"Are you fucking kidding me?" Nashi yelled, the look of disbelief clear on her face.

Erza Fernandez was now hovering above them in her fairy armour with a large sum of swords levitating around her. All of which were now pointed at the kids.

"Okay, new plan guys." Hunter quickly declared. There was no way they had a chance if his mother was there as well. He grabbed onto both of his friends' arms. "Run now."

___________

Storm's search for Raiden was unsuccessful so far. It was times like these when he wished he had the nose of a dragon slayer but unfortunately he didn't have one and had to now resort to looking for a needle in a haystack. Finding a little kid in such a big town was not going to be easy.

"Raiden!" Storm called out. "Raiden! Where are you?!"

He went out to try and stop Alexis.

Luke's words repeated themselves in Storm's head like a broken record. It took a few moments until a lightbulb finally popped in his mind. In order to find Raiden, he had to find where Alexis was.

Finding a raging demon would be a lot easier than finding a little boy, in Storm's mind.

___________

Ultear hugged her knees close to her chest. She was huddled behind a tree, not that far from where the younger version of herself and Hunter were now facing off Alexis. She had scrambled there right when Demon's Torment was cast. From where she sat, she could hear the whole fight.

The explosions... Hunter's desperate pleading with Alexis to stop... even herself who was shaking with fear relying way too heavily on Hunter.

All these years of bullying, taunting and humiliating, they're all leading up to today... The day I cast Demon's Torment and you finally put an end to my miserable life.

The words stuck with Ultear and caused her to stare blankly at the ground, enveloping herself tighter in her grasp.

It'd take a while but you'd do it. You'd kill me.

Alexis' words made Ultear numb because they were true. She remembered that fight. She remembered she had finally snapped and wanted to kill Alexis but then... Hunter had stepped in.

It made her sick to her stomach thinking she would so willingly kill someone...not just any someone but someone she had grown up with her entire life.

Alexis somehow knew exactly how things would play out. How... how did she know? How was she able to know me better than I know myself... but I know practically nothing about her? Ultear thought to herself.

"Lexi!"

The sound of a little boy's voice snapped Ultear from her thoughts. Turning her head, she looked to source only to find Raiden running straight towards the fight. It was way too dangerous for him to be out in the open. Ultear quickly got to her feet and immediately blocked him from getting any closer to fight.

"Get out of my way! I have to save Lexi!" Raiden yelled as he tried with all his might to push Ultear out of the way but she wouldn't budge. Ultear put both of her hands on Raiden's shoulders. Tears were streaming down his cheeks furiously. His hands were balled into shaking fists and his body was shaking with what she assumed was fear. "I have to save my big sister! Let go of me before I-" His fists started to spark with lightning.

"Stop it! It's too dangerous. You can't be here." Ultear chastised ensuring he understood the severity of the situation. The lightning in his fists ceased. "Alexis can't control her self so she might hurt you. It's being handled by Hunter and well... me. You have nothing to worry about." Ultear prayed to Mavis she sounded more convincing than she felt.

Raiden's lip quivered and Ultear immediately pulled him into her embrace. He cried into her chest, his body trembling in her arms. "I don't want her to go..." He whimpered. "Please make her stay. It's not her fault... Lucifer made her do it."

Ultear didn't know what to say so she stayed silent; rubbing Raiden's back as she tried to soothe him.

___________

Gale, Nashi and Hunter were sprinting for their lives towards the forest and away from Magnolia. Practically nipping at their heels were Natsu, Gajeel, Laxus and Erza. All of whom were also throwing their attacks at the teens.

"How long until you and Ultear defeat Alexis?!" Nashi shouted at Hunter who was running behind her.

"I don't know! It wasn't like I was keeping track of time while I was facing her!" Hunter barked back.

In the corner of his eye, he saw a sword flying towards Gale. Jumping with his own sword gripped tightly in his hand, he sliced it out of the air causing it to fall to the ground ineffective. Before Hunter could start running again, he was met by a a wall of fire - courtesy of Natsu Dragneel.

"Nashi!" Hunter shouted trying to shield himself.

"On it!" Nashi inhaled all the flames with a deep breath. "Fire Dragon Roar!" She yelled shooting the attack back at her dad.

Gajeel was about to punch Nashi but Gale intervened. "Iron Dragon Iron Fist!" He punched his father point blank in the face sending the man flying back.

"Lightning Dragon Breakdown fist!" Laxus bellowed. He extended his arm back; a yellow magic seal appearing in front of his lightning coated fist. With one swift motion he punched towards the teens.

They had barely any time to move before being struck head on by the attack. The attack blasted them back.

"Ow..." Nashi whined holding onto her sore limbs which happened to be her whole body at this point. She had landed directly on top of Gale.

"That really fucking hurt." He growled from under her. He tried to get on his feet but the aching in his body didn't allow him to move that easily.

"We really can't catch a damn break." Hunter grumbled.

Nashi, Gale and Hunter had barely any energy to conjure any magic themselves so all they could do was stay frozen on the ground waiting to be attacked upon.

Natsu, Erza, Gajeel and Laxus were now towering over them; their magical auras intensifying tenfold from before. Their fists and bodies were charged with their magic, all ready to unleash devastating attacks.

"Fire Dragon..."

"Lightning Dragon..."

"Iron Dragon..."

All Nashi wish for was a miracle. Getting hit with all those attacks at once and surviving... the odds weren't good.

Nashi shut her eyes tight and prayed, "Mavis, please..."

___________

FUN FACT - Ultear was never actually going to be one of the main characters. I just needed a cliffhanger for that punishments chapter and out popped Ultear LOL But I'm glad I added her because honestly she's my favourite character at the moment.
