29. Let's Not Blow Up the World
"She looks exactly like me..." The Young Ultear breathed out in disbelief. Her eyes lowered to Ultear's chest and she tilted to her head. "Though, the boobs are bit bigger."
"True..." Young Hunter said from beside her staring a bit too much at Ultear's chest area. The girl's face was as red as a tomato at this.
Young Ultear gasped and karate chopped Hunter in the head. "Stop staring at her boobs!" She yelled as he uncharacteristically crashed onto the ground.
Younger Storm backed away in terror. "This is seriously creepy dude! Two Ultears!" He yelled holding onto his head. "I can't even handle one. Someone just kill me now!"
Both Ultears seemed to glare at him at this comment making the boy even more mortified.
"You're not at all worried about the guy who looks exactly like you?" It was Young Gale speaking now as he shook his head at his raven haired friend.
Young Nashi stared at the Storm in front of her rubbing her chin. "You know this guy..." She said raising her brow. "...Reeks exactly like Stripper. It's so weird." She then proceeded to kick him in the stomach hard.
"Would you stop!" Storm shouted as he shoved the girl back. He was contemplating whether to attack her but decided against it. Hurting her may have negative effects on the future and that was something he certainly did not want to do... though his willpower in not fighting against her was withering fast.
Nashi Dragneel - no matter the age - was just so damn infuriating.
Young Hunter got back to his feet and dusted himself off before clearing his throat. "Hurry up and answer. Who the hell are the both of you?" He snarled, his aura suddenly darkening and becoming more and more intimidating by the second.
Ultear chuckled nervously helping her brother up from the ground. "Well, you see... we're ummm..." Sweat trickled from her forehead as all eyes were on her. When Storm was finally on his feet, she smiled sweetly at the group of teens in front of her. "RUN!" Ultear suddenly screamed.
And just like that her and Storm bolted away.
"Could you seriously think of nothing else?" Storm barked at his sister.
"I panicked." Ultear admitted, shame looming over her.
"You know, only guilty people run."
Ultear and Storm slammed the brakes on their running suddenly as the Young Hunter appeared in front of them. His arms were crossed and the look on his face was not a nice one.
"I totally forgot that he could use Meteor..." Ultear grunted inwardly beating herself up. "Running is useless now."
"You're acting as if it wasn't useless in the first place." Storm muttered under his breath. "Oh Mavis, I swear the world is gonna blow up at the rate we're going." He sighed feeling defeated.
"Okay, I'm just gonna come out and say it..." Ultear said to the Hunter in front of her catching his attention. "This is the truth..." Closing her eyes, she let out a sigh. "Me and him... we're..." She opened her eyes locking them with the red haired boy's intense gaze. "... cosplayers." She revealed with a shaky smile.
Hunter frowned raising his brow. "You seriously don't expect me to believe that right?" He said looking pretty unimpressed.
"Yeah that was a pretty weak cover." Storm said shaking his head at his sister. "I'm kinda disappointed I'm related to you right now."
"Who's side are you on!?" Ultear shouted at him backhanding him to the head. "Seriously! I'm trying!"
The others had caught up to them in this time and now Storm and Ultear were surrounded.
"I call dibs on beating up the guy who looks like Stripper!" Young Nashi shouted raising her hand like an excited little kid in class.
"Why can't I catch a break from that idiotic girl?" Storm sweat dropped.
Young Ultear was in her attack position with a deadpanned expression on her face. "Tell us who you are before you feel the wrath of two Fairy Tail S Class wizards." She said. "And if you don't know who they are..." Suddenly her face turned kawaii and she had a cute smile on her face. "It's me and my darling, Hunter!"
Ultear fell to her knees in shame, a dark aura emanating from her. "Was I really this annoying?" She whispered under breath.
Young Storm rolled his eyes. "Put a sock in it, Ultear." He said to his sister. "For everyone's sake please."
"I will hurt you Storm!" Young Ultear yelled at her little brother.
"This is why I despise hanging out with you guys sometimes." Young Gale groaned hearing the two siblings argue. "My guitar or a book would never give me this much of a headache." He ran a hand through his hair. "I'm about to leave, I swear."
"Oh cmon, Gale, you don't mean that!" Young Nashi frowned at the iron dragon slayer. "It's never fun without you around, ya know!"
A dash of pink appeared on Young Gale's cheeks as he turned around with his arms crossed.
"W-Whatever... guess I'll stay then." He mumbled.
Storm's eyes widened. "How did I not notice he liked Flame Brain?" He breathed out. "The dude made it obvious."
"Everyone be quiet now!" Young Hunter suddenly yelled. Just like that, everyone was in silence. "Now this time, no lies. Who are you?" He questioned pointing his sword at them. "If you don't give a proper answer, I will make you regret it."
Ultear and Storm froze in their places. They couldn't tell him the truth, could they? In this moment though, they didn't really have a choice. They were surrounded.
Ultear bit her lip. "Okay..." She stood to her feet, her face serious now. She was going to tell them. There was no use keeping it now. And besides Mest could always erase their memories afterwards. She just prayed to Mavis that the world didn't explode as she said her next words. "We're from the fut-"
"Is this really how you treat people when you first meet them?" A voice cut in. "I'm really disappointed in the lot of you."
"Demon..." Young Hunter growled.
Alexis Dreyar stood there with hands on her hips and a grin on her face. "How was the mission, Strawberry Boy?"
"We have them handled, Alexis." Young Ultear told the blonde haired girl. "Just leave." She glared at Alexis fiercely. "You're not needed here."
Alexis' turned to Young Ultear, her grin faded turning hostile. "When I want your opinion, Puddle, I'll ask." She commented. "It seems as if your ears aren't functioning properly because I was clearly talking to Strawberry Boy and for some reason your mouth opened."
"Alexis stop." Young Hunter said striding towards her. He grabbed onto her arm and yanked her to face him. "Do you have to be so horrible all the damn time?"
Alexis shrugged grinning up at him. "No I don't... it's just a hobby that I enjoy a lot. I've been working on a new spell, you know?" She said proudly. "I think you'll all like it when I'm finished with it which is pretty soon." She pulled her arm from the red haired boy's grasp rather effortlessly. "But in the mean time, I'll show you a few spells you should be familiar with."
Her body transformed into a demon within a flash. Shortly after, her demon claw clamped onto Hunter's arm and she threw him into the sky.
"Let's play a game!" Alexis bellowed. "Let's see who can dodge the most attacks!" She let out a maniacal laugh and she started unleashed dark magic powered attacks at the Young Ultear, Gale, Storm and Nashi. All of whom were now scrambling for cover.
Ultear clenched her fists by her side. "That witch!" She hissed. She was about to attack Alexis when Storm stopped her.
"Cmon, let's get out of here." He said yanking by the arm so they could go in the opposite direction.
"We can't just leave! She's going psycho!" Ultear yelled.
Storm grunted. "All I know is that Mean-Alexis only did things for a reason." He said. "And somehow... somehow I feel like she's only doing this so we don't reveal our true identities to our other selves."
"You're putting a little too much faith in her..." Ultear muttered.
Storm sighed. "Maybe but now we have a chance to get out of here and I think we should really take it." He bargained with his sister.
"Ugh..." Ultear had a feeling Storm was right so she looked past her initial instincts. What he said was very much reasonable in her opinion. As much as she didn't believe that Alexis would help, Storm's theory made sense. "Fine, let's get out of here."
___________
"I hear explosions." Gale said his ears perking up. "Should we go check it out?" He turned to face Hunter and Nashi.
Hunter shook his head. "We'll draw too much attention to ourselves and we don't want to interfere with anything that happens in this timeline." He reasoned to which Gale nodded in agreement.
Nashi sighed. "So what are we supposed to do now? Just sit down and wait until Ultear forgives Alexis?" She asked with a groan. "That's sooooo boring." She grimaced.
"We can't go back and hang at the guild or maybe even Magnolia in general." Gale said rubbing his chin and thinking hard on the subject. "If we encounter our other selves, who knows how much that'd mess everything up."
"Oh look! Ultear and her irrelevant brother are back!" Nashi said with a grin pointing excitedly as the two Fullbuster siblings approached them.
"Where have the two of you been?" Gale asked.
Ultear chuckled weakly. "We uh- kinda..." She hesitantly continued, "... encountered our other selves."
"You did what?!" Hunter shouted making Ultear and Storm flinch. "You were only gone for like ten minutes."
"We didn't reveal who we really were so that's a plus side." Storm said trying to alleviate the situation and lessen the chance of Hunter unleashing his wrath upon the two of them. "Weirdly enough, Alexis interrupted just in time to let us escape."
Gale's eyes widened. "She did? She helped?"
"But she said she wasn't going to help us..." Nashi said clearly confused. "Was she lying or... what?"
"I wouldn't call it helping as much." Ultear cut in crossing her arms. "All she did was attack them all."
"In a perfectly convenient time." Storm pointed out with a shrug. "Without her, you would've told them that we were from the future and then it would've been - BOOM - bye bye world." He added with all the sound effects of an explosion.
"She said something that stuck out to me though..." Ultear suddenly said looking to the ground, her expression becoming almost unreadable. She rubbed her arms gently like she cuddling herself. "She mentioned that she was working on a new spell and that she was nearly finished with it..."
"You don't think she was talking about that spell, do you?" Nashi said, her voice filled with concern.
"It is two years in the past and it did happen two years ago." Gale said suddenly feeling squeamish in his spot. He did not want to go through that incident again.
"When you met the other us... what were we doing?" Hunter inquired as if he was piecing together a theory in his mind.
Storm hummed and he thought back. "Well, it seemed as if we were just walking around and hanging out like we would normally do... Younger Hunter had just come back from a solo mission, I'm pretty sure." He recounted as best as could. He looked to Ultear for confirmation and she adamantly nodded her head in agreement.
Hunter's eyes suddenly widened. "I hardly went on solo missions because they were boring but I remember..." He grunted clenching his fists by his side. "I remember that when Alexis casted that spell, I had just finished a solo mission. I remember because the night I came back, me and Ul... we uh-" His cheeks went rosy so did Ultear's after she realised what he was talking about.
"What happened? What'd you do?" Nashi asked raising her brow.
"IT DOESN'T MATTER!" Ultear suddenly burst out saying. Nashi, Gale and Storm jumped in their spots in shock."Now..." She cleared her throat. "...please move on, Hunter."
"Right." He said scratching the back of his head. "Only maybe a day after that, Alexis cast the spell."
"So we're a day out from experiencing that fucking nightmare again?" Storm grumbled grinding his teeth together.
"It seems like it." Gale sighed. "Tomorrow, Demon's Torment will be casted."
