27. Two Years

"How did this happen? Why the hell are we here?" Nashi asked out aloud. It was questions that was running through everyone's minds at the moment. "Why does crazy shit like this always happen to us?"

"If we travelled back in time..." Gale started, his hand holding his chin as he thought. "Then wouldn't anything we do have some sort of effect on the future? We don't want to rip a big hole in the fabric of space and time." He warned the group. "If even the smallest detail is different from our original timeline, there'll be some fucked up consequences."

Hunter nodded. "We need to be careful with everything what we do. Let's not mess up."

All eyes seemed to fall on Nashi.

"Why the hell are you all looking at me?" Nashi shouted angrily and looking pretty offended.

"Maybe because you destroy everything you touch." Storm said matter of factly as if it was obvious. Nashi was about to punch him when Ultear interrupted.

"It's nothing personal, Nashi." Ultear chuckled nervously patting her pink haired friend on the shoulder. "It's just you have the tendency to be a little more destructive than the rest of us."

"Oh whatever!" Nashi threw her arms in the air in defeat. "You guys suck! Can we just get to the guild so I can eat." She turned away looking pretty miffed.

"Can we go back to the guild?" Ultear questioned. "What if we meet ourselves? That'd be risky."

"I think what we need to figure out first is how we got here." Hunter interjected. "We want to get out of here as fast as we can."

"Isn't it obvious?" Storm said with a slight growl. "Ultear lied to the old geezer so now we're here."

"I did not lie." Ultear glared at her brother.

"Oh come on." Storm groaned. "He asked you if one can truly be evil without the chance of redemption." He said. "And you lied to his face." Storm knew his sister all too well.

"For the last time, I told him the truth." Ultear said clenching her fists by her side.

Gale seemed to catch on with what Storm was saying as his eyes widened with realisation. "Alexis..." he breathed out. "Deep down you think she can't be redeemed for what she did... you think she's pure evil, Ul." He said.

Ultear's expression faltered for a second. "S-She's doesn't count..." She stammered.

Hunter sighed. "The fact that you said that means you lied." He grunted shaking his head. "And now we're stuck here and have no idea how to get back to our time."

"Okay, at the time I thought I was telling the truth." Ultear defended herself though it was a pretty weak defence.

"Forgiveness alludes you for you are blind." Nashi said nonchalantly with a bag of potato chips in her hand. She crunched down on some chips as everyone stared at her with confusion etched into their features.

"What did you just say, Flame Brain?" Storm questioned narrowing his eyes at her. His gaze travelled down to the chips in her grasp. "And where'd you gets those? Give me some."

"No way." Storm tried to make a grab for the bag but Nashi turned to the side dodging his attempts. "And I said..." She cleared her throat. "Forgiveness alludes you for you are blind. It was the last thing the guy said to Ultear before we disappeared. Geez didn't you guys hear?"

"Maybe that's the key to get home." Gale said.

"Shit." Hunter cursed. "I'm not sure this is right but what it sounds like to me is that to get back to our time..." He let out a long sigh before cursing some more profanity under his breath. "Ultear has to forgive Alexis."

Silence fell upon the group before Storm spoke up.

"Well, get comfortable guys..." He crossed his arms and then let out a sigh in defeat. "Cause that isn't gonna happen anytime soon."

Ultear couldn't even bring herself to argue with her brother and neither could anyone else.

"But you have to, Ul." Gale said carefully. He raised his eyes to meet her blue ones. "The longer we stay in a timeline that isn't ours, the more likely we'll mess up everything."

Ultear was silent for a moment, her eyes now looking to the ground. "I-I...I'll give it a try."

"So..." Nashi started. "Does that mean we go to the guild now?" She asked with a slight shrug. "To find Alexis."

"Unfortunately..." Ultear muttered under her breath.

___________

The five teens stood in front of the guildhall.

"So... should we just walk right in?" Nashi asked with a shrug.

"I don't think walking straight in is the best idea. If we encounter our past selves then we might be in for some serious trouble." Gale cautioned rubbing his chin.

"If something happens, we could just contact Mest." Ultear suggested. "He could erase any trace of us being here."

"True." Hunter agreed. "But we still have to be cautious with everything we do."

"Okay, I'm just really hungry and I'm sure the rest of you are too." Storm groaned clutching onto his rumbling stomach. "So..." He walked up to the guild door. "Here goes nothing." He pushed the door open and strode in; the others filing in behind.

The guildhall wasn't all that different. It still reeked of alcohol and sweat. Guild members were laughing, some even singing (very horribly) and of course there was fighting. It looked just like any other normal day in the Fairy Tail guild.

"So what do we do?" Nashi asked as she peered around.

"Look for Alexis, I guess." Ultear muttered reluctantly.

"Stop right there." The five teens seemed to jump in shock from the sudden voice. After falling over each other, they scrambled to their feet turning to face the source of the voice.

Mirajane Dreyar stood there giving them a strange look. "Is it just me or do you kids look like you grew a couple inches from when I last saw you?" Mira let out a long sigh shaking her head. "Actually never mind that." She looked back to the teens; her eyes were bloodshot and filled with worry. She looked stressed raking a hand through her white coloured hair. "Have you seen Alexis?" She asked.

"Uh... no?" Gale answered.

"Mira, who're you talking to?" Another voice questioned. Laxus approached from behind. He raised his brow at the kids. His eyes fell on Hunter. "I don't remember you having a scar like that." He then looked among the teens. "All of your scents... they're different."

"We can explain." Gale said with a nervous chuckle.

___________

The teens - plus their parents - were all congregated in Laxus' office so they were granted with some privacy from the nosy guild members outside. The parents had their eyes intently watching their 'kids'.

Lucy found it hard to believe what they were saying. "So you're telling me that you're from... the future?" She reiterated with widened eyes. She couldn't quite wrap her head around things.

Gale nodded. "Two years into the future." He clarified. "We went on this mission and things... well- didn't go according to plan and we ended up here."

"No shit." Storm muttered. He was still kinda angry that he still hadn't eaten. Juvia seemed to hear her son curse and proceeded to whack him on the back of his head. "Ow..." Storm pouted rubbing his head with a defeated look.

Nashi stifled her laughter putting a hand over her mouth. "What a loser."

"Wow, just what crazy shit did you brats do to get yourselves into this situation?" Natsu asked with an amused chuckle. Lucy didn't really seemed amused and glared her husband into silence.

"How'd you get this scar?" Erza asked her son. She held a reluctant Hunter's face in her hands, analysing it intently.

Hunter's eyes looked among the room to the others. They were all staring at him wanting  an answer as well. Ultear seemed to be staring at the ground guiltily.

"If I told you, it may risk ruining our time line." Hunter answered his mother.

Erza gave her son a grim look before sighing. "Very well." She let him go.

Judging by everyone's reactions, Hunter gathered they were in the point of time before Alexis had casted her Demon's Torment. Just how close they were to that... unfortunate day, he had no idea but he hoped it didn't happen while they were still in this timeline. He couldn't stand to go through that again.

"If avoiding your other selves is so important, why'd you just stroll back into the guild?" Gray questioned.

"Well, we have reason to believe..." Ultear let out a deep breath. "Alexis is the key to getting back home."

"And why is that?" Laxus asked.

"We can't really reveal much, we just have to find her." Gale said sternly. "So does anyone have an idea?" He looked to the parents who shook their heads.

Mira sighed. "She went to the markets a few hours ago and she hasn't come back." She revealed. "I was hoping she'd be back by now with the rest of you."

"The best you can do is to track her scent." Gajeel said, his arms crossed over his chest. "Sort out your shit with her and then go back to your timeline."

The way his dad put it sounded simple and easy enough, Gale thought to himself. But unfortunately he had a gut feeling things would not turn out that way.

Laxus ultimately agreed with Gajeel. He opened up a drawer in his desk and pulled out a dishevelled teddy bear. He threw it to Nashi who caught it in her grasp.

"Uh- thank you?" Nashi looked utterly confused.

"It isn't for you." Laxus muttered rolling his eyes. "It has her scent on it, use it."

"Ohhhhh..." Nashi said, her cheeks slightly pink with embarrassment.

"As a precaution, we won't interfere with anything you guys do while you're here." Laxus declared sternly. Everyone in the room outrightly agreed with an adamant nod. "Now do this as fast as you can and try not to rip a hole in the fabric of space and time."

"Hold up." Storm said right before everyone could file out. "Time travelling has made me very hungry so can we possibly get something to eat first?"

___________

Storm patted his stomach with a pleased grin. Having been generously fed by Mira's amazing cooking, he was ready to face whatever the world could throw at him. Hunter, Ultear, Nashi and Gale seemed to be more energetic than before after eating as well.

Nashi took a whiff of the teddy bear before raising her nose in the air. "Hmm... weird." She mumbled to herself.

"What is it?" Gale questioned.

Nashi shrugged. "It's just that Alexis is not even that far from here and Aunt Mira seemed really worried about her." She revealed.

"Just lead the way already, flame brain." Storm barked seeing as the sun was beginning to go down. "We don't have all day."

Nashi glared at him. "Do you want a piece of me, Stripper?"

While Nashi and Storm began to argue and Gale just growled to himself, Hunter looked to Ultear. She looked bothered and lost in her thoughts. She chewed on her bottom lip fidgeting with her fingers. Nervous didn't even begin to describe how she looked right now.

"Ultear, are you alright?" Hunter asked cautiously.

Ultear jumped at the sound of his voice. "Fine." She stated, her voice hoarse. "I- its just a lot of pressure."

Hunter put his hand on her shoulder. "I know we're in a hurry but take your time when it comes to Alexis. And take it easy on yourself." He said to her. "Forgiving someone isn't easy; especially when that someone happens to be a literal demon." He smiled at her reassuringly and Ultear managed a weak chuckle.

"What are we going to do when we do find her?" She asked Hunter.

Hunter's expression turned grim. "I have no idea. We'll figure that out when we get there."

___________

16-year-old Alexis sat crossed legged in a field just outside the town of Magnolia watching the sun begin to set on the prosperous town. Beside her stood the devil himself, Lucifer.

"It's beautiful isn't it?" Lucifer said, his hands behind his back.

Alexis' face was devoid of any emotion; her eyes stared at the view blankly. "Hmm... I guess so." She answered tilting her head to the side.

"It'd be shame if someone laid waste on this fine land." Lucifer added. His eyes glanced at the blonde haired girl behind him waiting for her response.

Alexis' lips curled into a sadistic grin. "Now that would be unfortunate."
