14. Reminisce

"This spot should be good." Hunter announced to group. He set down his backpack on the clear area of grass and started to spread out his sleeping bag. The sun was just setting so the sky was now painted with beautiful hues of orange.

Nashi collapsed onto the ground beneath landing face first. "Finally... that was so much walking." Her muffled voice said. The whole team had been walking ever since they had gotten off the train which was a few hours after the break of dawn.

Ultear just chuckled at Nashi before glancing at her brother who looked to be struggling getting his sleeping stuff out of his bag. She reached for it with good intentions in mind.

"Let me help." Ultear insisted. Storm harshly pulled away from her.

"I don't need you." He growled turning his back to her. Awkward silence arose. Ultear built up all her courage so that she wouldn't cry. She swallowed her sadness, turned her heel and walked to a spot next to Hunter who gave her a sympathetic look.

Gale was fiddling with fingers. He had been acting strange the whole trip. Mainly due to the fact that he knew that Nashi had a crush on someone that wasn't him.

"Hey, Nash." Gale called. Nashi groggily lofted her head up. "It's getting... um... pretty chilly. Maybe you could start the fire." He stammered. He frowned when Hunter, Ultear and Storm shot him questionable looks. "What?" He barked them, growing red in the face.

Nashi, being the dense person she was, just smiled brightly jumping to her feet in one swift motion. "Sure thing." She replied all giddy. She spotted a thick log and moved it to the middle of the camp before lighting it aflame with her fire coated hand. "Better?" She asked Gale.

Gale chuckled and nodded. "Much Better."

"Real subtle." Storm mumbled under his breath. He managed to get his sleeping stuff out of his bag and lay it out on the ground.

Eventually the sky evaporated into a sea of darkness with nothing but the stars lighting up the night. The fire crackled lightly as the team laid in silence.

"Remember when we were little and we would always go camping." Ultear said out aloud with a warm smile on her lips. When they were younger, all the kids would go on a camping trip every two months or so. Sometimes Alexis would tag along too if she was bored. Ultear remembered vividly the camping trip when she was 14 because that was the time Hunter finally asked her out.

For Storm, he distinctly remembered the year when he successfully froze Hunter, Alexis and Ultear to a tree. It was only for 7 seconds though. The fact that he could do that to the three most powerful kids simultaneously boosted his ego a lot. He had to spend the rest of that camping trip running away from them but it totally worth it.

Gale remembered back to the time him and Nashi spent the whole time creating a secret language and would tease everyone without them knowing. They became best friends and bonded a lot. He spent so much time with her that year so it was easily his favourite.

Hunter recalled the memory where he, Ultear and Alexis decimated an entire herd of about 100 Vulcans together. It was violent. Very VERY violent but he found it fun. It was the first time the three had work together as a team.

"Ahhh... those were the good days." Nashi breathed out. She remembered back to when everyone would sit around the camp fire just like this night. Whether it was telling scary stories, fighting over who had the last marshmallow or even staring up silently at the sky above, they were always having a good time. They were always just one happy family.

Everyone laid there with stupid grins on their faces as they reminisced until they eventually went to bed. All but two. The fire had long since gone out so they were in complete darkness.

"Hunter, I miss this." Ultear whispered turning on her side to face him. He hummed in agreement as he continued to stare up at the sky with his head resting on his hand. "It's so lonely going on solo missions. I forgot how much better it is with friends." She said softly. She looked at him hesitantly. "Do you think I could join you guys after this is done?"

Hunter smiled slightly. "Of course you can but..." he said turning to face her. "You have to sort out whatever's happening with you and Storm."

Ultear sighed as she cuddled herself deeper into the blanket. "I know." She mumbled. Her brother was as stubborn as they come so it wouldn't be an easy task. If Ultear had the choice, she'd go back in time and never leave. But you couldn't change the past... could you?

Packing up was the worst part of camping. Especially when it was at dawn.

Nashi yawned. "Did anyone pack food?" She asked groggily as she stuffed her blanket into her bag.

"Please tell me you're joking, Flame Brain." Storm said with a straight face. "Hunter gave you the job of bringing the food." He explained to her. Nashi's eyes widened and she paled.

She had forgotten.

Everyone face palmed and let out a sigh in disappointment.

"Told you I should've been the food person." Ultear pointed out to Hunter who just shrugged.

"Nashi said she could handle the responsibility... obviously from this display I know she can't." Hunter replied with a low snarl at the end. Nashi shrunk down into a ball.

Storm just looked at Gale. "I don't know what you see in her." He said shaking his head. Gale let out a growl glaring at the ice mage who didn't seem to care.

WHIP!

Gale's eyes shot open and he jumped onto his feet instantly. "What was th-"

Hunter looked down at his right ankle which now had a rope tied around it. He pulled out his sword but he was too slow. Whoever had the rope pulled on it quickly causing his weapon to escape his grasp. Within a second, he was dragged into the deep forest.

"HUNTER!"

Ultear, Storm, Gale and Nashi ran towards the direction Hunter was pulled but were met by an invisible wall. Storm and Nashi collided with the wall crashing to the ground with a loud thud. Ultear looked down at the ground seeing glowing lettering. It was rune magic just like Freed's.

A figure dropped onto the ground behind them. The immense magic energy radiating from it was intense. Ultear wondered why she couldn't feel it before.

"Your friend's long gone, little fairies."

Alexis was bored. She missed the others. Especially Hunter. Raiden has too gone out on a mission with Luke and Lily. Everyone else was either too old or too young to hang out with in the guild.

"Hey everyone! Look it's Jace!" Someone called out. Alexis' eyes shifted to the door with curiosity.

A boy, probably around her age (Thank Mavis), walked in. He had spiky maroon coloured hair along with piercing violet eyes that Alexis found mesmerising. He greeted everyone with a goofy grin. Hugs and cheerful laughter filled the guild. His eyes suddenly met hers and he tilted his head in confusion before shaking his head. The boy started striding towards her quite quickly. Alexis closed her eyes and braced herself for another attack. She wasn't taking any chances after Ultear. She waited...

...but nothing happened.

She slowly opened her eyes and saw that he was standing right in front of her. He smirked.

"Do my eyes deceive me or that the Demon Queen herself?"
