three - principal dreyar, a menace
(set a few days after last chapter.)
Gale was always a good listener. Since he didn't talk, the only thing he could do was listen and pay attention to his surroundings. He knew A LOT of things.
For instance, he was adamant that something was going on between Hunter and Alexis. Hunter was moody while Alexis subtly avoided him. It didn't really take much to put two and two together. That and Gale had the misfortune of walking into the wrong room at a certain Friday Night Party.
His ability to know certain juicy gossip was the reason he was the poor victim of Erika's shenanigans. She'd read his mind and know everything he knew which was A LOT. That's why Gale chose to stay close to Rose in certain times when Hunter was off doing who knows what. Rose had a weird ability to inflict fear into Erika and scare her off.
It was 3:30pm in the afternoon. School had finished so the corridors were empty and the first of Principal Dreyar's new class started at 4. Rose took her spare time to be productive and do some of her Student Council duties.
"Be useful and pass me the tape." Rose ordered Gale as she balanced herself on the chair holding a corner of her homecoming banner. Her request fell onto deaf ears as Gale continued sitting on the ground next to her chair with his nose buried into a book. Rose glared down at the boy before she lost her balance. Her legs wobbled and she plummeted to the ground with a high pitched 'kyyaa' sound.
Gale's eyes shot open seeing the girl flat on her face on the ground. He threw his book to the side and rushed to her aid. She hadn't moved which was slightly terrifying so Gale did the most logical thing he could think of.
He poked her.
And continued doing so until she let out a low snarl. Her head raised and she was red with anger and Gale took that as his cue to slowly back away. He was heading for his book but Rose beat him clamping her hand firmly on it. She was fast which was expected from the top magic league fighter. Gale growled as Rose tucked the book into her back pack.
"You aren't getting the book back until you help me hang the banner and the rest of the posters." She said furrowing her brow.
Gale rolled his eyes in annoyance. He crossed his arms defiantly but Rose didn't seem to care. She shoved the tape in his hands, climbed back on the chair she had just fell from and gestured Gale for a piece.
Gale growled once again. How troublesome. He thought to himself. He stomped loudly towards her so she knew how much he didn't like her at the moment before ultimately doing exactly what she asked and handing her a bit of tape. While he was there, he decided he might as well make sure she didn't fall again.
Something on Rose's legs caught Gale's eyes. It was a scrape that was starting to bleed. His eyes widened, it looked pretty bad. He inwardly beat himself up. If he was paying attention, she wouldn't have got it.
"Gale, stop being a pervert and checking out Rose's legs!" Alexis shouted approaching the pair with an amused grin.
"What?" Rose squeaked looking down at Gale. His face was just as red as her scarlet hair. He shook his head adamantly.
Alexis chuckled. "Relax, I was kidding." She said. Gale glared at her but Alexis just ignored him. Rose jumped to the ground. "Anyways, for my two little lovebirds I brought snacks." Now both Rose and Gale were flustered, cheeks red with embarrassment.
"Don't ever say that again." Rose said lowly trying to hide her embarrassment.
"For Rosey, Caesar salad and and for Gale, food that are specifically high in iron." Alexis handed both of them a clear plastic container of food. Rose and Gale happily took their food nodding in thanks.
"Now have you seen the others? I brought them some stuff too." Alexis asked to which Gale shrugged.
"Last I saw, they were in the library. Storm and Nashi are trying to work out how the tutoring thing will work out while Hunter makes sure they don't kill each other." Rose said stuffing some of her salad into her mouth.

Storm was frustrated. He had underestimated how much help Nashi actually needed with her studies. At this point, he was pretty sure Principal Dreyar was playing some sort of joke on him. How Nashi made it to senior year? He had no idea.
"Maybe If you were a better tutor, this would be working out." Nashi said holding onto her head like it was about to explode. Her textbooks were splayed in front of her. She didn't remember Maths having letters in it.
"Maybe if you weren't stupid." Storm muttered under his breath. Nashi's eyes flared with anger and she slammed her hands onto the table standing to her feet.
"I AM NOT STUPID!" She shouted in a fit of rage. Storm stayed sitting on his chair looking at her with pity. "Call me that again and I'll-"
"You'll punch me?" Storm finished for her. He crossed his arms over his chest shaking his head. "What a surprise." He said sarcastically rolling his eyes.
"Calm down the both of you." Hunter ordered with an annoyed grunt. He'd seen the two bicker for the last 20 minutes and was getting fed up. "Storm lower the douchebag attitude and Nashi sit down." He said to them both. Hunter could've sworn he was controlling children.
"I see you guys have made some progress." Alexis said as she approached the group.
"Barely." Storm corrected with a exhausted sigh.
"Oh shut up." Nashi crossed her arms and looked away.
"Oh well I brought food." Alexis said. Nashi's eyes lit up as Alexis threw her
a bag of burger and fries. Storm caught his cartoon of frozen yogurt and a spoon. He finally smiled for the first time in the 20 minutes of hell with Nashi.
"You're a literal life saver, Lexi." Nashi praised unwrapping her burger. "I was starving."
"Think of it as a celebration of us becoming a team." Alexis said with a little shrug.
"If you do this every day, I won't hate coming so much." Storm admitted with a spoon in his mouth.
Alexis frowned down Hunter. He had this stupid scowl on his face ever since she showed up. For the past few days, he always seemed to be angry when she was near him. She didn't know why but she was reaching her exploding point.
"And here's your stupid cake, Baka." Alexis pegged the container of strawberry cake at Hunter's head before curtly leaving the library.
Silence fell between the trio.
"Well, that was unexpected." Nashi breathed out. She had currently ceased eating her burger out of shock.
Storm took another spoonful of his frozen yogurt staying silent. It was none of his business what was going on between those two so he wasn't about to ask.
Hunter growled under his breath as he sat there now covered in strawberry cake.

The clock struck 4:00.
The whole team was assembled in the school gymnasium sitting on the bleachers in a little bunch. Principal Dreyar entered dressed in his usual shirt and tie with a smirk on his face.
"Are you ready to enter hell?" He questioned the teens rubbing his hands together like a mischievous child.
"Already here." Storm said. He had a very unimpressed expression on his face.
"The way you're conducting yourself creeps me out." Rose added narrowing her eyes at Laxus. He looked as if he was actually going to physically torture them and enjoy it. Knowing him, he probably was going to do just that.
"First things first, Gale put the book down before I get Nashi to burn it." Laxus ordered clicking his fingers at Gale. Gale rolled his eyes as he stuffed the book into his bag. He looked back at Laxus crossing his arms. "Now, we're going to have a little competition."
"What's the point of a competition when we're supposed to be working together?" Alexis asked confused.
"Who cares about teamwork! I'm gonna destroy you all." Nashi shouted. She jumped to her feet with excitement. It was finally her time to beat Rose.
"Whoever can cast one of their basic spells continuously for the longest period of time wins." Laxus revealed. "This will test your endurance levels and also be some good entertainment watching you struggle towards the end."
"Hold it there, I haven't cast a spell in Mavis knows how long. I'm not about to start now." Storm pointed out.
"You're going to be running laps then." Laxus said to which Storm paled. Storm didn't exactly keep his fitness up when he stopped participating in magic leagues.
"Loser." Nashi coughed. Storm glared at her.
"Everyone get up and in a line now." Laxus commanded. Everyone obeyed getting into a straight line. "And start!"
"Fire Dragon Roar!"
"Meteor!"
"Requip!"
"Take Over!"
Gale roared out a spiral of iron.
Meanwhile Storm reluctantly started running laps around the gymnasium. He made sure to steer clear of any magic that maybe coming towards him. Although he was almost certain Nashi was aiming for him.
The almost endless cycle of magic attacks continued on for at least an hour before anyone was showing signs of fatigue.
Storm who had been running non stop was huffing and panting heavily. His lungs felt like they were failing as he desperately wheezed for air.
"Oh Mavis, f*ck this. I'm out." He said stopping . His head hung low with his hands on hips as he tried to catch his breath.
"Oh, I forgot to say that the first one out in every challenge gets hit my lightning." Laxus called out.
Storm's eyes widened. "What?" He squeaked before getting struck with at least a million vaults.
"Ha ha s-s-stupid." Nashi laughed at Storm twitching on the ground. She was nearing her end, her magic energy was pretty much depleted. She knew this by the way her roars were getting smaller and smaller. Until she couldn't even summon a simple flame. Gale seemed the same and pulled out at the same time as her.
Hunter, Alexis and Rose were now left. Hunter was using meteor to go back and forth up and down the gymnasium. Alexis was transforming in and out of her base demon take over form. While Rose was requiping into different requip armours.
Hunter was the first to lag behind. His meteor started to get slower and slower until eventually he was huffing for some air. His forehead was dripping with sweat and he walked back to the bleachers feeling defeated. It was a surprise to the other three that he didn't win.
Rose was beginning to get tired. But of course her winner mentality didn't allow her to give up. She was going to win.
Alexis didn't seem to be breaking a sweat. Her shifting in and out of demon form was slightly entertaining. She suddenly go from sweet blonde haired bundle of sunshine to ferocious demon that'd kill you without even hesitating.
It took another 7 minutes before Rose finally gave in. Her magic energy was completely empty and as much as she didn't want to,, she had to stop.
"And Alexis is the winner." Laxus announced with a huge grin as he stood to his feet. "That's my girl." He said high diving his daughter.
"How the hell are you not tired?" Nashi questioned looking baffled. She was still out of breath.
"I'm just better at not showing it." Alexis corrected Nashi. "You should try it. It unintentionally makes the competition try even harder to beat you and use more magic energy."
"Oh." Nashi nodded her head as she realised that was actually a smart strategy.
Alexis helped up Rose who glared back her. "I'll get you next time, Lexi." Rose grumbled. Alexis replied with an 'Mhmm.' The two best friends found their way to the bleachers and sat down with the rest of the team.
"Okay now that the warm up is done, it's time for the real training." Laxus said. Everyone paled. They were already beyond total exhaustion.
"You have got to me kidding me." Storm breathed out.

Later that night...
It was reaching 8 when Rose and Hunter finally returned home looking VERY VERY exhausted. Erza pitied her children. She knew how hard Laxus would treat the kids.
"How was the first class?" Erza asked sipping at her coffee.
"My ass hurts and I'm tired." Hunter groaned. Rose pointed at Hunter signalling hat she agreed with him. She had collapsed face first on the sofa and didn't want to move at all.
Erza laughed. "Laxus told me he'd go easy on you for the first class."
"Well, he lied." Rose's muffled voice said.
Hunter walked up the stairs into his room. He threw his stuff onto his bed. He still had pink marks on his shirt courtesy of the pink frosting from the strawberry cake Alexis threw at him. He took off his shirt throwing it to the side.
His phone started buzzing and looked to see it was Bianca. They had talked a lot during the past few days. Hunter actually found that he enjoyed it. He picked up the phone.
"Hey, what's up?"
