seven - revelations
Nashi walked home with her eyes glued to the ground. Her hand squeezed tighter on her bag strap which was slung over her shoulder. Her mind was focused on what had happened earlier...
"She-" Nashi's breath was hitched in her throat. She didn't believe it... It couldn't be... Had Rose really..."-lost." She breathed out.
"I don't fucking believe it." Storm whispered from beside her.
From the corner of her eye, she saw Gale's face filled with overwhelming disbelief just like hers.
In front of them, Rose laid immobile on the ground as Adamina towered over her. The crowd was as silent as mice as they too watched the scene with wide eyes.
"And Adamina Neekis w-wins folks by knock out!" Jason screeched over the loud speaker breaking the silence. "I repeat, Adamina Neekis has defeated last year's Magic League's Champion!"
Adamina thrust her fists into the air with a wide grin and the crowd went crazy.
Nashi sighed. Rose losing was certainly a wake up call. Fernandez kids didn't lose to just anyone. To Nashi, it meant that she would have to work twice as hard if she wanted to keep up with the competition this year.
Her feet came to a halt and she stared down at her hands. Clenching her fists, she furrowed her brows. "I'm gonna avenge you, Rose... don't you worry." She vowed silently.
Nashi let out a breath before continuing her way home. She arrived at her front door in no time and walked in. She kicked her shoes off as she closed the door behind her.
"I'm home!" She called out. The sweet scent of her mother's cooking filled Nashi's nose causing her belly to rumble. She was about to rush into the kitchen when the sight of her little 13-year-old brother stopped her in her tracks. His eyes were puffy and red as if he was crying. He looked at her angrily before stomping his way to the kitchen in front of her.
"Who did it?" Nashi questioned grabbing onto his arm and turning his body to face her. "Tell me who did it and I'll teach them a lesson, Luke."
Luke glared up at his sister. "It's no one. I didn't get beat up okay?" He yelled.
"Well then, why are you crying?"
"I am not and WAS not crying!"
"I'm not blind! I know tears when I see them."
"Hey hey hey... what's with the yelling huh?" Came the voice of Nashi's father. Natsu walked to his kids raising his brow as he watched the two of them glare at each other fiercely. "Is anyone going to answer me?" He questioned.
"He's crying!" Nashi yelled pointing to Luke.
Natsu's eyes widened. He bent down to his knees putting two firm hands on his son's shoulders. Luke tried to turn away but Natsu squishes his cheeks together and faced his head to face him.
"What's got you down huh kiddo?" Natsu asked carefully.
Luke was silent for a moment before his eyes began to tear up again. "Don't talk to me!" He shouted. He pushed his father away causing the man to plummet to the ground with a loud thud before running back upstairs to his room.
"Wow, dad! You totally did nothing!" Nashi growled under breath looking down at her father with disappointment. "I don't care if I have to knock the answers out of that boy-"
"Nashi, give it a break for a second." Natsu interrupted. His got to his dusting himself off. He looked up to where Luke had just disappeared to and sighed. "Luke'll be fine. We just need to give him some time to cool off."
Nashi sighed herself. "I suppose you're right, old man." She ran a hand through her hair.
It was true. When a Dragneel was ever angry, it was best to just leave them alone for a little bit. Nashi knew for a fact that when she was angry or upset, the last thing she wanted was her family butting into her business.
Natsu grinned at his daughter. He reached out and ruffled her hair. "Now how was your Magic League fight huh? Did you kick butt? Oh who am I kidding, you're my daughter! Of course you did!" He let a roaring laugh.
"Oh my..." Nashi mumbled under her breath. "I told you dad! It wasn't my turn to fight yet, it was Rose's." She corrected with an eye roll.
Natsu laughed awkwardly. "Oh yeah... I totally remembered you saying that." He lied pretty obviously. "So how did Erza's kid do?"
Nashi bit her lip. "She lost."
Natsu's eyes widened. "ERZA'S KID LOST?! IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE?" He yelled.
"I KNOW RIGHT!" Nashi yelled back. She shook her head, the feeling of disbelief still lingering in her mind. "Adamina knocked her out cold."
"Damn..." Natsu breathed out. "Is Rose okay?" He asked lifting his eyes to meet his daughter's.
"I hope so... she's seemed really... out of it when she woke up." Nashi said softly. "By the time I left, she still hadn't said a single word."
Silence fell between Nashi and her father before Nashi sighed.
"I need to get changed... I'll tell you and Mom more about it when I'm done." Nashi said as she started making her way to the stairs.
Natsu nodded. "Dinner should be ready by the time you're done so make sure you get Luke."
"Okay, Daaadddddd."
Nashi ran up the stairs and into her room. In no time at all, she had a quick shower and threw on the first clothes she could find. She was hungry so the faster she did everything, the faster she could eat.
She walked up to Luke's door and let out a deep breath. She gave the soft knock before opening the door. There was saw him face down on his bed his arm clutching tightly onto one of his pillows.
"Hey, Luke... Dinner's ready." Nashi said but he didn't stifle at all, he just let out a growling noise.
Nashi resisted the urge to jump on him and tickle him to death. He was really and seriously upset so now was not the time to do that kind of stuff.
"I'm sorry about trying to force the answer out of you by the way." Nashi muttered looking at the ground. She hated apologising, it really wasn't her thing at all.
Luke suddenly moved and sat up. "Nashi..." He sobbed. Hot tears streamed down his face.
Nashi's body moves by itself. She rushed to her brother's side and hugged him.
"Mavis, what's wrong Luke?" Nashi asked rubbing his back.
"I-I did... I did something at school today." Luke croaked out in between his sobs. "I couldn't control m-m-myself..."
Nashi put both of her hands on his shoulders, her brown eyes staring into Luke's onyx ones.
"What happened?" She questioned sternly.
Nashi didn't know what Luke was being all emotional over but one thing that she was sure of was that she was going to beat the ass of whoever dared hurt her little brother. Luke's answer... it was certainly far off from what Nashi expected though...
"I kissed a boy."

Storm laid on his bed staring at the ceiling. Lately, it was pretty often that he was doing this. He liked it that way. Being alone felt more comfortable than being with his friends sometimes. Though, being alone with nothing but his thoughts sometimes did more harm than good. The moments of his day replayed in his mind like a broken record.
He was in the infirmary; Gale, Flame Brain, Rose's parents and Principal Laxus in there as well as they watched over Rose who was lying on one of the beds in the room. Rose was curled up into a ball clutching to her sheets so tightly as if her life depended on it with her back faced to everyone.
From the way Rose's body trembled violently, Storm could tell that she was crying. No one dared to try and reach to her. Any attempt to even talk to her resulted in an enraged outburst from Rose.
"Where is that boy?!" Rose's mother - Erza was what Principal Laxus had called her - shouted as she angrily held her phone to her ear. "And why is not picking up his phone!?"
Storm had assumed she was talking about Hunter. He along with Alexis were still at Blue Pegasus doing their spying mission that the Principal had assigned them. The match that they had attended should've finished a couple hours ago so they should've been back at school by now.
"Erza, just calm down." Her blue haired husband said.
Erza glared at him a glare that rattled Storm to his core. Now he knew where Hunter and Rose got their ferocity and overall intimidating factor from. Their mother was truly terrifying.
"No! He should be here for his sister!" Erza yelled.
Laxus sighed rubbing the bridge of his nose."Kids, I think it's best if you go home now."
Storm shook the thoughts from his head when a knock came at his door.
Quickly sitting up, he cleared his throat. "Come in." He called out. His door opened and in came his mother.
His mother had seen better days. Her light blue hair was slightly disheveled and dark bags were formed under her eyes. Storm understood why. It was nearly the anniversary of-
"Are you alright, darling?" Juvia asked her son as she sat next to him on his bed.
"I should be asking you that, Mom..." Storm said frowning.
"Last I checked, it is the job of the parent to ask such questions." She responded matter of factly. "Now are you alright?"
"Why wouldn't I be?" Storm muttered looking to the ground.
Juvia bit her lip. "I know life has been a struggle recently..." She paused for a second and Storm cast a wary look to his mother. She swallowed before continuing, "But please try to enjoy your last year of high school and treasure your time with your friends..." The way she said it sounded a little like she was begging. Turning his face in her direction, Juvia lightly caressed her son's cheek with her hand. "It's been so long since I've seen a smile on your face and I miss seeing you happy."
Storm was silent. He didn't really know what to say. It was true that he wasn't exactly in the right head space recently. He couldn't even think back to the last time in which he was genuinely happy. Gale had told him that people around school had started referring to him as the 'Depressed Kid.' Storm didn't really care about what they thought of him but he did care about his mother thought.
"I'll try, Mom... I promise." Storm said softly.
His mother smiled brightly before standing to her feet. "Well, I should go help your father cook dinner before he burns the house down..." She leaned down and pressed a kiss on Storm's forehead. "I love you, sweetie."
A weak smile formed on Storm's face. "I love you too, Mom." He said softly.
His mother left his room, quietly closing the door behind her. Storm laid back down on his bed right back at the place he had started; staring up at the ceiling in silence.
The promise he made to his mother was not an easy one. Storm was very much the pessimist and that part of his personality was not going to change anytime soon. That and... the anniversary was coming up. It was a day Storm dreaded with all his being. Thinking of the day made him not only swell in grief but also feel sick to his stomach at the same time.
That day? It was the Anniversary of his Sister's Death.
