Gale and Mackenzie both inherited their fathers laugh. But, when Gale spoke, that was his normal laugh, while a regular laugh meant he was feeling cocky. Its the same for Mackenzie but vice versa, Mackenzie has a normal laugh, but uses her fathers laugh when she's feeling prideful. They usually use it when they know their gonna win a fight.
