Daeyang is the king of the Yellow Sea. As head of all mermaids and mermen, it's his responsibility to not only take care of his people and the sea, but to also take care of humans. And to do just that, he owns a business on land at Eurwangni Beach in Incheon: a fishing business where tourist rent boats and buy fishing equipment and supplies to catch fish in the sea.

One of his mermaids disobeyed the rule about falling in love with humans. But to save him, she decided to take a risk by gaining legs, and losing her tail so she can live on land with him. However, she is only allowed to go back into the ocean in mermaid form to either see her family or when she's needed for an emergency.

She married her lover, and they become fishermen so they can help Daeyang out with both the business and the mermaids and mermen. They also have children around the same time Daeyang and his wife Sirene have their youngest daughter/child.

Through her and the fishermen's son's connection, they change both the human world, and the sea world, forever. Even bringing them closer than ever.
