(Eurwangni Beach, Chanyeol POV)

Today was one of the busiest days for the fishing shop. The currents were calm, so there's a bigger chance of the local fishermen catching a net full of fish. Right now, I was out helping Appa catch some fish for tonight's dinner. We put our boat back at the doc and went inside with the fish we caught.

"Good work son," my father, fisherman Park Sungjin, told me as I helped carry the fish upstairs, which is where we live, to our kitchen. I told Appa, "Thanks Appa. It's worth it to catch the amount of fish we need for tonight's dinner." "I'm proud of you boys," says my mother, Lee Yeongmi, our business's accountant/office manager, "Look at how much you brought in for me to make."

"Anytime Eomma," I told her. Appa tells her, "Chanyeol and I are going to clean the boat out, call it a day, and then help you with making dinner, okay honey?" "Sure thing," Eomma says, "Make sure you tell Yoora to come in too after let everyone know the day is over with."

"Alright," Appa and I told Eomma. We went outside, and started taking the supplies out of the boat and started scrubbing it both inside and out. Not too long after we started washing the boat, we heard someone say, "Well, well, well. If it isn't Sungjin and Sungjin Junior over here washing their crappy boat."

Turning around, we see our business rival, Do Iljum, and his two sons, Seungsoo and Kyungsoo, walk over to us. Iljum owns a fishing boat rental/ fishing equipment shop on the other side of the beach. He, unlike us, likes to catch rare fish and secretly puts them up for sale to make himself rich. The biggest thing he's obsessed with is finding a mermaid, even though they don't exist.

Kyungsoo is one of my friends, and he likes studying about rare sea creatures, including mermaids. But unlike his father, he doesn't want to catch them. If anything, he wants to protect them and even help the endangered ones grow population wise.

"What is it this time, Iljum?" Appa asked. I said, "Can't you see we're busy here with our business?" "I know that," Iljum says, "just thought I'd let you know about the species I found that will run you out of business." "Let us guess. A fin whale?" I asked. Appa asks, "A hawksbill sea turtle?"

"Even better. A mermaid," Iljum says. I grunted and said, "Haven't we already told you mermaids don't exist?" "They're just an old legend," Appa says. Seungsoo explains, "That's what Kyungsoo and I tried to tell Appa." "But he just won't listen," Kyungsoo says.

"Non of you will believe me until I show it to you myself after I go out and capture one," Iljum says, "and I'm going to do just that. With all the research I did, and the special equipment I put together, I should be able to capture one very soon."

"And we'll of course know that when you attempt to, you'll come back empty handed," Appa says. Huffing at us, Iljum tells us, "Not today, ol' pal. You'll see. You ALL will see!" He then walks to his house with his sons. Appa and I just rolled our eyes at our business rival's nonsense.

I said, "Mermaids. When is Iljum going to realize that they don't exist." "Trust me son. Even if they did, they wouldn't give Iljum the time of day," says Appa, taking the cleaning supplies out, "Come on. Let's end the day so your mother can make some delicious fish stew."

Nodding, I said, "Of course Appa." We gathered our supplies, put them in the house, and pressed the button to let the fishermen using our boats know that the day is over. The boats are back to where they're suppose to be, and we made sure non of them or our equipment went missing. Then, we went inside so we can get washed up for dinner.

(Kyungsoo POV)

Hyung went home so he can pick up his wife from her job, and I'm here with Appa having dinner with him. I decided to stay over so I can learn about the rare species of whale I found while riding my boat out at sea. I learn about them so I can find ways to save endangered sea creatures and help increase them. I hope I can save them from Appa one of these days.

Just as I got finished, I put the book up, and exited the library. In the living room, Appa is gathering his supplies, and puts on his fishing gear. "Appa, are you insane?!" I exclaimed to him, "It's getting dark out, and the dangerous fish are out there!"

"Relax son," says Appa, "I'm just going to set up my surprise full proof trap for the mermaid, and then I'll be home in time for dinner." "You're just wasting time, and money, with all of this Appa. You should really be getting ready for dinner," I said. He just tells me, "Don't worry about me son. The seas may have taken your mother, but it sure as hell won't take me."

I just told my father, "Whatever, I'm not even going to try and stop you tonight, Appa. I need to make this crab carbonara recipe I saw online right away. When we check the net in the morning for your supposed mermaid, don't be a whiny crybaby if it's lose from the net."

"Trust me Kyungsoo," he explains, "that mermaid is as good as mine when we capture it." With that, he leaves the house. Secretly, I have no doubts about mermaids existing, but I also have concerns for them if they do. Hopefully my research will help save not only the endangered and rare species of sea creatures, but also the mermaids.

(Chanyeol POV)

It's already 8:30, and we just got finished eating dinner. "The stew was delicious, dear," Appa tells Eomma. She replies with, "Thanks honey. Couldn't have made it without the tasty fish you and our son catched out at sea." "Anytime Eomma," I said, getting up from my chair, "I'm going to go stargazing on my boat if you don't mind."

"Okay honey," says Eomma, doing the dishes with Noona, "Make sure you be careful of any dangerous sea creatures, and don't go too far out at sea." I said to her, "I'll be careful Eomma," and kiss her cheek. I also hug Noona and Appa, and exit the kitchen.

First, I go to my room and grab my telescope, star map, astronomy book, and compass. Next, I put on comforting clothing and a life jacket. Then, I head outside to the boats. And I get in mine and set off for the sea.
