POV: Lucy

"Hello Death." I said, giving him a weak smile. He stood there tall, and dark. He had on a long black robe the evaporated, so he had no feet. He held a large black scythe, and his hood was up so you couldn't see his face. And to be honest he looked like a shadow more than a human figure.

"Hello Lucy." He said. "It's nice to see you, it's been a long time since we last spoke. It was the last time you saved a soul."

"Yes, but unfortunately. There was no saving today." I told him and lowered my head a little, and I looked at my father's soul.

"Oh, but you have." He said, and I jerked my head up and looked at him.

"What do you mean? I killed my father, not save him. I did the exact opposite of what I have always said I wouldn't do. I killed him." I said.

"Yes, you did kill him. But you saved so many." He told me.

"What? How?" I asked, completely confused.

"I have looked into the future, and if your father had walked away. He would have gone and made an entire army of Celestial Spirits." He explained. "And he would have come after you, and let me say this. It would not have ended well for you or anyone else."

"So, I did the right thing?" I asked.

"Well that decition is not up to me, but to you. Do you believe you made the right choice?" He questioned me.

"Not really, I feel horrible." I said and I looked down.

"Well that is normal. I went through the same thing when I started what I do. But after a while I realized that it's simply part of nature." He told me, and I nodded, understanding what he was saying. "Sometimes the wrong things can happen, for the right reasons."

"I suppose. But how am I going to get through it?'' I asked him, as I looked back up at him.

"Look behind you, what do you see?" He asked as he looked behind me. I turned my head and looked at everyone behind me, and smiled. There stood everyone I loved. They all looked a little scared at the moment, but that's probably because I'm talking to Death himself.

"My family." I answered.

"That's right, and what does family do best?" He asked.

"Support." I answered as I looked back at Death.

"Exactly." Death told me. "You love them, and they love you. However one in particular, loves you more than the others."

"Really?" I asked. "Who?"

"I will let you figure that out on your own." Death said, and I sighed. Death laughed at me a bit, and then started turning away from me.

"Death, wait!" I said.

"Hmm?" He hummed to me as he turned around.

"Here." I said, as I held out my father's soul. "I have no intention of using this." I told him.

"Lucy, are you sure?" He asked.

"Yes, I don't want to be reminded of him. Let alone have him be my Celestial Spirit." I said. Death then reached out with a very pale and thin hand and took my father's soul.

"I appreciate the thought." He said, as he looked at it. "And in return, I will do you a favor." He said.

"Oh, no you don't have to do that." I told him.

"Oh, shush." He told me. "When Death offers to do you a favor, take it for christ sake!" He yelled at me.

"Okay, okay." I giggled a little.

"Now, the favor I will do you. . . . ." He paused for a dramatic effect. "Is make sure this soul, never sees the light of day again." Death placed the soul inside his robe.

"What?" I asked.

"This soul has been the worse kind of evil for hundreds of years. It's even the one that gave your magic a bad name." Death said as he looked at me.

"Really?" I asked as I looked at him in astonishment.

"Yep, and I think that it has gone to far." Death said. "So he will stay in hell, for as long as I live." He told me. "Well, exist."

"Thank you." I said.

"I hope we talk soon, I've always enjoyed our talks." Death said as he seemed to evaporate into the air.

"I feel the same." I said right as Death completely left. Then I took a deep breath and thought about what just happend. And as it all started to set in I dropped to my knees and placed my hands over my face.

'I did it, I killed him.'

I thought as tears fell from my eyes. I heard some footsteps from behind me, but I didn't look. I was to ashamed to look up.

"Lucy." Natsu said as he crouched in front of me. "Lucy look at me." He demanded. I shook my head no, not wanting to see him, or anyone else disappointed in me. "Lucy, please look at me."

"No." I cried.

"Lucy." Natsu said as he gripped my wrists gently.

"No!" I yelled and pulled away from him. He then gripped my wrists a bit harder so I couldn't pull away. He ripped my hands from my face and used the oprotunity to jump at me. I opened my eyes as I saw that he was hugging me tight to his chest. "Natsu?"

"Lucy, it's okay." He whispered to me in my ear. "You did what you thought was right."

"But was it?" I asked as I cried harder into his shoulder. He then stood up, dragging me off the ground, and onto my feet.

"Well I don't know, was it?" He asked. "You saved me, and everyone else. You set those Spirits free. And most importantly you set yourself free."

"I don't feel free." I said. "I feel sad."

"I know." Natsu said. "Seeing you like this, makes me sad too." Natsu pulled away from the hug and I let my head hang. Natsu uses his finger to lift my chin, so we were looking eye to eye. "But it's okay to be sad sometimes." Natsu then placed his hand on my right shoulder.

"He's right." Erza said, as she walked up to us, as did everyone did the same. "It's okay, to be sad at some times." Erza placed her hand on my other shoulder, as she stood behind me.

"That doesn't make you any less strong." Gray said, as he placed his hand on Natsu's shoulder, and he stood on my right side.

"If anything it makes you stronger." Juvia said, and she put her hand on Erza's shoulder, so she was standing on my left.

"Crying can tell those around you that there is something wrong, and they can help you through it." Levy said, placing her hand on Gray's shoulder, standing behind Erza.

"And as they help you throught it, it only makes you stronger." Gajeel said, and put his hand on Juvia's shoulder standing behind Natsu.

"Because it proves that sometimes even the ones you thought was the strongest, has their breaking points." Mira said, and took a hold of Levy's shoudler, and stood behing Juvia. Then that's when everyone else joined in placing their hand the person before thems shoulder. And formed a spirling circle around me. I then laughed as I cried a little more before whiping my tears away.

"I hate you guys." I said. "But love you guys so much at the same time."

"Isn't that the meaning of family?" Erza asked, and we all laughed.

"Yeah, I guess it is." I said.

"Well then, let's party!" Gray yelled and everyone yelled in excitement. And we all headed back into the Guild Hall. But I stopped walking, feeling like I had to wait for something. Natsu noticed as he walked passed me and turned to me.

"You okay?" He asked, and his question got the attention of Gray, Juvia, Levy, Gajeel, Mira, and Erza.

"Yeah I just, feel like I should wait." I said, and then I got the feeling some one was behind me. And I turned around to see the old woman that ran the necklace booth. "You?" I asked.

"Well that's not the reaction I was looking for." She said.

"Why did you give Natsu this necklace?" I asked her. "How did you know it was me?"

"Well, it's my job to make sure that the new reincarnation gets the necklace after the last one has died." She said.

"And who was the last one?" I asked.

"Me." She said.

"You?" I asked, and she nodded. "So you're dead?"

"That's right." She said. "I have been dead for a long time."

"How long?" I asked her, curious about the answer.

"A little over ten years." She told me. "And do you want to know something?"

"What?" I asked.

"You knew me when I was still alive." She whispered to me.

"I did?" I wondered trying to figure out who it could have been, since I didn't know a lot of people back then.

"Yes you did." She told me. "Do you want to know what you called me?" She asked and I nodded. "You called me Mama." My eyes widdend as her body glowed golden and her skin became younger, her hair faded from grey to golden blonde. And I felt tears fall from my eyes, the annoying old woman, who tried to get me to take the necklace that ended up saving my life. Was my mom.

"Mom?" I asked and she opened her eye to show bright brown eyes. "Mom!" I yelled and hugged her tight.

"Hello sweetheart." She said, as she hugged me just as tight as I was hugging her.

"That's why she smelled like you." Natsu said, snapping me back to realitly, and we pulled away from the hug.

"Wait so you were the last reincarnation?" I asked.

"Yep. And you should be proud, your mother was a badass." My mother said, winking, and I laughed. "However, it is almost time that I go."

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"The last job for the reincarnation of the Celestial Queen, is to find the new reincarnation. To protect the necklace until it is given to her." My mother explained. "And when I made you try it on at the booth, I was scared that it didn't react. But I knew that with your father in the way, you were too scared for it to react. But deep down, I knew it was you."

"That's why you practiually attacked me?" Natsu asked.

"Yeah, sorry about that." My mother said. "But there is also one other thing that the dead reincarnation, must do before she moves on, other than getting the necklace to the new reincarnation."

"And what's that?" I asked, worried about what it was.

"Crown the new reincarnation." She said. "Kneel." My mother instructed me, and I did. "Repeat after me. I, say your name."

"I, Lucy Hearfilia." I said.

"Promise to protect those who are important in this world, and many others." She said.

"Promise to protect those who are important in this world, and many others." I said.

"Along with those who are precious to me." My mother added.

"Along with those who are precious to me." I said.

"I promise to look after all those who live under the stars, and those who are the stars." My mother said.

"I promise to look after all those who live under the stars, and those who are the stars." I repeated.

"In the future, for as long as I live, and I pass on my power." My mother said.

"In the future, for as long as I live, and I pass on my power." I said.

"Congragulations, Lucy." My mother said. "I now, pass my power onto you." She said and touched my forehead with two of her fingers. And I felt power surge through me and it made me gasp. And I knew that my eyes were glowing, as the wind picked up around me and my mother and once the wind stopped my mother helped me stand up.

"Thank you mom." I said and hugged her, and then she started glowing, and small yellow lights started to fly away. "Wait mom, you can't go just yet! There's so much I want to tell you!"

"Then write to me." She told me. "I love it when you write to me."

"You get my letters?" I asked. "How? They've never left my room."

"Because you wrote the from your heart." She said as she smiled, and whiped away a tear that I didn't know was rolling down my cheek. "I love you so much sweetheart. And I promise you will see me again." She then leaned in and placed a kiss on my forehead, and I closed my eyes not wanting to watch her leave.

"I love you too mom." I said as I felt her lips leave my forehead. Then after a minute I opened my eyes, and saw nothing but the sun finally setting on the horizon. Then I felt an arm wrap around my shoulders and I looked to see Natsu, was standing next to me.

"You okay?" He asked. And I nodded. "You sure?" He asked again.

"Yeah, it's just been a really long day." I said.

"Amen." Everyone behind me said.

"Well you ready to party?" Natsu asked.

"Hell yes." I said, nodding and we walked into the school. Right as the sun disappeared from sight. Signalling that the day was finally over.
