Chapter Forty-Six: What Are You Hiding From Me?

Thanks for 7K votes!

Have you ever done something so stupid that you immediately regret it and you would do anything to undo it? Like, why do you even do it in the first place if you knew it was going to be a bad idea? I hope I don't get into trouble, because I think it's too late to change what I just did. I should probably confess to her what I did.

~~~
Author's POV:
Silence filled the empty room. It was probably because Natsu and Lucy were the only ones there. Makarov gave them some sort of excuse from their classes to go to the tutoring center. However, there wasn't a lot of productivity going on. They were still pretty mad at each other.
Lucy kept flipping the pages, while Natsu was looking at his homework. He was, indeed, struggling, but he didn't have the guts to tell Lucy about it. After all, she didn't look like she wanted to talk to him.
It wasn't entirely true. Lucy took a quick glimpse on how Natsu was doing. Seeing him do nothing made her irritated. She really wanted to help him and it was her job to, yet she couldn't, because they weren't talking to each other.
After minutes passed, Lucy had enough. She closed her book, which startled Natsu, and focused her attention on the homework. As she scanned the problems, they weren't at all hard. That wasn't what shocked her, though. It was the questions that he answered. They were all wrong.
"Okay, let's do number six. If f=x(5) and you know that f=120, what is x?" Lucy asked, writing the problem down. Natsu scratched his head, thinking he could do the whole problem mentally. Unfortunately for him, he wasn't exactly good at it.
"Uh...45?" Lucy slammed the book against Natsu's head, clearly knowing that he wasn't even trying. Natsu rubbed his head and laughed softly. He kind of had that coming.
"Seriously? 45? You can do better than that." Lucy clicked her pen and wrote an equation down for Natsu to solve. Natsu viewed it and was confused as to how it relates to the question he was stuck on.
"This has nothing to do with the problem," Natsu pointed out. Lucy didn't respond as she was too busy writing the equation. Once done, she gave the pen to Natsu and had him solve it.
"It's a very simple equation. All you have to do is find out the answer to 120 divided by 5." Natsu was confused. The equation was relatively easy. Shrugging his shoulders, he wrote the answer down, which was 24 and handed the pen back to Lucy. She had a satisfied smile on her lips and pointed to the question he was stuck on.
"f=x(5) and you know f=120. The variable x is the unknown number you were supposed to solve. So, what number multiplied by 5 would give you 120?"
"24... Oh! That's why you wanted me to divide 120 by 5. It was so that I could solve for x." Lucy nodded, proud of Natsu for getting the question correct.
They moved on to the next question and when that was done, they moved on again. The atmosphere wasn't so awkward anymore, as the two of them kept talking and working out the questions together. There was a time when Natsu answered a question without the assistance of Lucy and the both of them cheered, even though it wasn't something big they should celebrate. However, it was major to both Lucy and Natsu. It meant that Natsu was improving.
They finished the homework, but they weren't done talking. It felt like forever, since the both of them talked and they really missed it. Lucy loved how Natsu could go on and on about a topic and never run out of anything to say. Natsu loved Lucy's reactions and responses to everything he had to say. He found it to be quite enjoyable.
"Tell me more," Lucy said, chuckling from the last story Natsu had told her.
"Well, there was this one time when Wendy was five years old and I was eight. We got lost in a mirror maze and we were trying to find our way out. Our mom ditched us and was already waiting for us outside. We kept going through the maze and I was really happy to have found the exit sign. I showed Wendy where the exit was and she dashed toward it, but there was a slight problem. She was running. Trust me when I say that you should never run in mirror mazes, because Wendy accidentally bumped her head against the mirror and fell down, unconscious. I had to carry her out of the exit all by myself." Lucy laughed, while feeling sympathetic to young Wendy. She could relate to that story, because it happened to her too. Only she didn't run.
"Poor Wendy. I didn't really get to hang out with her this week. I should go visit her some day," Lucy said, packing all of her materials. The bell rang and it was finally time to head on home. It shocked the both of them how time moved so quickly. Natsu got all his things and an idea sparked in his head.
"Hey, since you said you wanted to hang out with Wendy and school just ended, do you want to walk back to my house? I'm pretty sure Wendy brought Romeo over and-" Lucy couldn't wait for Natsu to finish as she grabbed his hand and busted out of the tutoring center. She knew Wendy had a crush on Romeo and she wanted to see it live. Natsu tried to stop Lucy with all his might, but it didn't even affect her. He then called out to her and she stopped in place, feeling a bit impatient.
"Don't you think we should walk?" Natsu asked, a bit out of breath from all of the running.
"No way! I want to see Wendy and Romeo!" Lucy shouted, acting like a little kid who's waiting in line for ice cream.
"They're not going anywhere, Lucy. Just walk, I'm a little out of breath."
"Ugh, fine." Lucy groaned and walked with Natsu, since he had the key to his house. Lucy looked around and saw an ice cream place not far from them. She really felt like eating ice cream, but she spent all of her allowance money. Natsu saw this and had another idea in his head.
"Hey, I need to go to the bathroom. Can you sit on the bench, while you wait?" Lucy nodded and Natsu went to the ice cream place, making sure that Lucy wasn't looking. He came back with two ice creams in his hands and handed one to Lucy.
"I thought you said you were going to the restroom?" Lucy asked, taking the ice cream from his hand.
"Well, I saw you checking out the ice cream and I thought I would get you one. I hope you like strawberry." Lucy smiled, while taking her first lick on the ice cream.
"Strawberries are my favorite."
"Lucy! Don't embarrass me," Wendy said, feeling a bit flustered. Romeo was too busy watching the movie that Wendy picked out for him. Lucy, on the other hand, was teasing Wendy about how cute they were together. Lucy laughed and squished Wendy's cheeks, which made her flush.
"Alright, I'll leave you alone. Have fun on your date," Lucy said, winking at Wendy. She stood up from the couch and went to go see what Natsu was up to. She went up to his room and opened the door slightly to see what he was doing. From the corner of her eye, she could see Natsu examining a drawing of some sort. Opening the door more, she went in, which made Natsu's head jerk back. He quickly hid the drawing behind his back, not wanting Lucy to see what he was up to.
"Natsu, what are you hiding from me?" Lucy asked, curious as to what Natsu was up to. Natsu shook his head and backed all the way against the wall. Lucy tried grabbing it, but he wouldn't let her. He rolled the drawing and held it high up in the air, so she wouldn't be able to get it. She tried jumping and used his shoulders for support to try to grab the rolled up drawing, but it didn't work. Lucy gave up and realized that she was close to Natsu. Natsu noticed this too and subconsciously lowered the drawing down. Lucy took the opportunity to snatch the drawing away. She unrolled the construction paper and her expression turned serious when the drawing was actually a diagram of a well-planned wedding.
"It's my mom and Igneel's wedding," Natsu confessed. Lucy smiled at the wedding. It was beautiful. The scenery was outside and sunny. The chairs were white and each of them were accompanied by a light pink balloon. The aisle floor was covered with a red carpet, just like the ones the celebrities walk on. At the end of the red carpet was an arch decorated with white and pink flowers. It wasn't long for Lucy to know that they wanted the theme of their wedding to be white and pink. Simple, yet elegant.
"Why were you looking at their wedding plans?" Lucy asked, handing the drawing to Natsu.
"I don't know. I just thought that if I hid the wedding plans from them, the wedding wouldn't happen."
"What? I thought you were over that." Natsu shook his head. He never got over the fact that his mom and dad are getting married. He still told himself that Igneel hasn't changed and that he'll leave his family again. In a way, he didn't want to know. He was scared to find out.
"What if Igneel leaves us again?" He asked Lucy. She shrugged her shoulders, not really knowing the answer to his question.
"Well, I can't really answer that, Natsu. I think only Igneel can answer that for you. You don't even know the reason why he left and you can't jump into conclusions, unless you talk to him." Natsu looked at the wedding plan, contemplating whether he should talk to Igneel. A part of him knew that Lucy was right and that he should go talk to him.
"What if the answer that I'm looking for isn't what I was expecting?" Lucy walked over to Natsu and hugged him. She could see how scared he was to go and talk to his dad. She knew what it was like be in Natsu's place. She never had a real relationship with her dad before. He was either too busy or never at home.
"Then, you keep being you. Just because the answer isn't what you were expecting, doesn't necessarily have to change anything. If you want to know the answer, you have to talk to him," Lucy answered. Natsu finally felt relief, after hearing what Lucy had to say. He then found the courage to try and talk to him tomorrow.
"Will you be there to support me?" Natsu asked, hoping that he wouldn't be alone to face his dad.
"Of course, I will."
Next Update: Soon!
Okay, so I didn't get into any trouble, thankfully. I would tell you guys what I did, but to be honest, I'm kind of ashamed to admit it, so I'll just make it simple and say it had to do with school. I know, I'm a horrible person and I swear that I will never do anything stupid ever again. I feel the need to apologize to everyone, so here's a disclaimer just for you guys!
~~~

Yukino: So, what did you do that's so bad, Author-san?

Sting the Cheerleader: Also, why am I still in this cheerleader outfit? Get it off me!

Author: Sorry, Yukino, but I don't want to say. Sting, you look gorgeous in that cheerleader outfit!

Sting the Cheerleader: *tries to take off cheerleader outfit, but fails miserably*

Yukino: Oh, look! There's Rogue!

Rogue: Did someone say my name?

Author: Oh, Rogue! I didn't see you there. What are you doing here?

Rogue: Remember the time you showed your readers a picture of me and Sting in cheerleader outfits?

Author: Oh, yeah! You're not in the story, but when I saw the picture of you and Sting as cheerleaders, I couldn't resist!

Rogue: Well, yeah...listen, if you don't take down that photo, I'm going to tell everyone what you did in school that was so bad.

Author: You wouldn't dare!

Rogue: I look horrible in that cheerleader outfit. Sting, however, he looked pretty cute in it.

Sting the Cheerleader: Thank yo- wait, what?

Yukino: Rogue, are you gay?!

Rogue: What? No!

Yukino: But, I thought you broke up with Kagura.

Rogue: I did, but not because I was gay.

Author: Note to self: make Rogue gay...

Yukino: Sting? Why aren't you trying to take off the uniform?

Sting the Cheerleader: Well, that was before I knew I looked cute in it.

Author: I told you that like a gazillion times!

Sting the Cheerleader: I know, but you're not Rogue.

Author: Yukino, may you do the disclaimer, while I try to murder Sting?

Yukino: Sure! Author-san doesn't own Fairy Tail. Hiro Mashimas does. If she did, she would've made Sting gay a long time ago.

Rogue: Wait, how are you going to make Sting gay?

Author: I changed me mind. I'm going to kill him instead... *pulls out a chainsaw from behind*

Sting the Cheerleader: Uh...did I say you're a horrible liar? I meant to say that you're a great liar!

Author: Did anyone ever tell you that you're a horrible liar? *powers the chainsaw*

Sting the Cheerleader: Bye, guys! I gotta Zayn!
