Chapter Forty: My Valentine
Happy Valentine's Day! I hope you're celebrating this special occasion with your special someone. I don't have a valentine, but that's because I rejected all of them. (*cough* lies *cough*)
Your comments are giving me life! A lot of you were telling me to not put down this fanfic and I'm like:
But, I never said I was going to take it down...
Whatever gave you the impression that I was? I never said such a ridiculous thing. (^.^)

Natsu's POV:
"You have to talk to her," Wendy said as she tried to push me off the bed.
"Nope."
"Natsu, this has been going on for a week. You can't avoid our mom forever."
"Wendy, I'm not avoiding her. We live in the same house together."
"Just get your butt out of bed and eat dinner with us. I'm not bringing your food to your room anymore," Wendy said as she crossed her arms.
"But, I'm paying you."
"I got all the money I need. I was saving the cash to buy Romeo a gift."
"Romeo?" Wendy nodded her head.
"He won the game and I thought it would be nice if I bought him a gift for his first win."
"Why not buy the rest of the team gifts?" I asked with a smirk. A tint of blush could be seen on her face.
"H-He's the one I'm closest to."
"You're red."
"I know that!" Wendy pouted.
"Please, Wendy! I don't want to face Mom or Igneel," I begged.
"Too bad." She got off from the bed and made her way to the door.
"I hate you."
"I love you too." After that, Wendy closed the door behind her, leaving me with the decision to either stay in bed or go down and eat.

Wendy's POV:
"He's not coming down here is he?" Mom asked with a sad tone.
"I tried to persuade him, but he still doesn't want to come down," I said.
"I understand if he doesn't want to see me, but avoiding Grandine is a whole other story," said Igneel. He grabbed the lasagna out of the oven and carefully placed it on top of the table.
"Wow, it smells even better than what Mom buys us," I complimented. Igneel looked at Mom in disbelief.
"You never learned how to cook?" Mom scratched the back of her head, embarrassed.
"I never have time to cook. I always go to work and come back late at night. Occasionally, I have breaks, but I use that time to set up meetings with my clients." Igneel gave Mom a disapproving look.
"From now on, I'll teach you how to cook. The meeting can be managed some other time, since it's not really important." Mom looked at Igneel and flashed him a huge smile.
"Did I ever tell you how much I missed you?" Igneel leaned in to give Mom a gentle kiss on the head.
"You did. Once or twice." I closed my eyes and covered my cheeks to hide my flushed face.
"Oh, come on, Wendy. You should be fine about this. Don't you have Romeo?" Mom asked.
"R-Romeo and I aren't even t-together," I stuttered. Igneel chuckled and we all took our seats to eat dinner.
"Do you like him?" He asked. I looked down at my plate of food and slowly nodded my head.
"I don't think he likes me, though..."
"You know, I remember falling in love. Grandine used to have a big crush on me and I would always tell her-"
"That's not how it happened! If anything, you had a crush on me!" Mom said as she flicked his forehead. Igneel laughed, while Mom gave him a cold, hard glare. It's always adorable to see two of your parents getting along. It warmed my heart, knowing that even though they haven't seen each other for a long time, they both still loved each other.
"Fine, I'll tell you the real story. I did like your mom back then, but not at first. Let me tell you, she was a pain in the @$$."
"Igneel!"
"But, I learned that although she may appear tough, I knew she had a heart made of gold. That's one of the things I love about your mother. She used to be in the varsity basketball team. She was way out of my league. Always popular with the guys, always had a lot of friends, and she always gets along with her teachers. Me? I was probably the nerdiest person in high school. Played video games at home, always getting straight A's, I was basically antisocial. We were total opposites back then. One day, however, she needed help with some math, because she wasn't the most smartest student out there. The teacher assigned her to work with me, since I was pretty good at math. At first, she hated my guts, because she would complain about how I'm not even helping her at all, but, overtime, she learned how to become friends with me and became pretty decent at math. She didn't need help with the subject anymore, but we decided to stay friends. There have been rumors spreading around that we were dating, but we decided to ignore it and not let it bother us." Igneel gave Mom the nod to continue the story for him. Mom took a deep breath and folded her hands together.
"Well, we tried our best to ignore it, but it got the best of me. I told him that we should not be seen together in public, because I wanted the rumors to stop. That was probably the most stupidest thing I could've said. So, the day after I told him that, he avoided me as much as possible. The rumors did stop, but a new one had to come up. People thought we broke up, even though we weren't dating in the first place. The more we avoided each other, the more we grew apart. Every time I glanced at his direction, it reminded me how close we were before. I missed that everyday. It wasn't until we were partnered up for a science project that we talked again. Even if we weren't close as we were before, I was thankful I was able to talk to him again. I told him that I wanted to be his friend again..."
[FLASHBACK]
Igneel and Grandine were currently taking a break from their science experiment and Grandine decided to go check to see what Igneel was up to. She peeked into his room and found him working on a complicated chemical equation. He seemed to be in the zone right now, so it took her a while to decide if she should come in or leave him be. Just as she was about to make her decision, Igneel took a glance at her direction and flinched.
"Uh, do you need something, Grandine?" Igneel asked. Grandine opened the door a little wider and let herself into his bedroom. She didn't have the courage to come closer, so she kept her distance from him. She hated the part when you have to say something so simple, yet so hard at the same time. She clenched her hands tightly and looked straight into his eyes.
"I just wanted to say that I'm sorry... I shouldn't have told you to avoid me and leave me alone. It's not that I hate you. More that, I wanted the stupid rumors to stop. When I told you that we should stop being seen together, I never knew that a new rumor was going to pop up. Eventually, I let the rumors slip aside my mind and decided to pay attention to something else. I thought that I could try to mend our friendship, but I was too scared. Heck, I'm scared now. If I told you that I wanted to be friends with you again, I don't want you to reject me." Igneel stopped what he was doing and came closer to Grandine. He didn't hold any emotion on his face and kept looking straight into Grandine's eyes.
"I was just following your orders. I thought we were still friends. Never did I hear you say that we aren't anymore. You told me to give you some space, so I obeyed your request. Whenever you came close to me, I thought you were just testing me. I'm sorry if you thought I was being rude." Grandine's heart quickened when Igneel told her that they were still friends. She still felt awful about telling him to stay away from her. In all honesty, meeting Igneel was probably one of her favorite highlights of her life. He was the only one that could make Grandine talk freely with. Not only that, Grandine grew a little liking to Igneel.
"Just know that when a girl walks up to you, don't just ignore her. Show her that you care and give her your full attention." There was a huge smirk across Igneel's lips as Grandine said that.
"Is that what you wanted from me? To give you some attention?" Grandine looked at the floor and gulped down her nervousness. She mentally slapped her head, knowing what she just said.
"Y-You just don't turn your head around. It's not only rude, it shows the person that you don't care. It'll make him or her sad." Igneel took another step closer to her and smirked even wider.
"Were you sad?" He asked slyly. Grandine was in trouble. Well, more like she was creating more trouble for herself.
"Of course, I was! I missed you for crying out loud!" Grandine gasped and she immediately covered her mouth. It was an accident and yet she blurted it out to him. The atmosphere was now filled with a long pause. Igneel's expression was unreadable. He didn't know what to say. A part of him wanted to jump up and down and the other part of him was shocked to know that one of the most popular girls in school missed him. His heart was leaping with joy.
Without any warning, Igneel removed Grandine's hand that was covering her mouth and went in to kiss her. Grandine was overwhelmed with emotions. There were questions running around on her mind and her head was processing everything that was happening. However, she learned to let things go and kissed him back with the same passion he was giving her. From this day forward, they took their relationship to the next level and formed a stronger bond than ever before.
[END OF FLASHBACK]
"Aww! That's so sweet!" I said. Igneel and Mom looked at each other and held each other's hand.
"You do realize that today is Valentine's Day, right?" Mom asked. My eyes completely widened and I grabbed the present I was going to give to Romeo.
"Hey, where are you going?" Igneel asked. I quickly slipped my shoes on and rushed to the door.
"I thought Valentine's Day was tomorrow! I need to give Romeo his gift now!" I waved goodbye to the both of them and close the door on my way out. I ran all the way to Romeo's house, despite the fact I was freezing to death. The present wasn't heavy, but it was really long, which made running difficult. Please, tell me Romeo's awake.
I made it to the doorstep of his house and heavily panted. The wind was blowing violently, making my hair cover my face. I pushed my hair out of the way and banged on the door. I waited for about ten seconds and the door opened, revealing Romeo in his gray shirt.
"Wendy? What are you doing here?" Romeo asked. I inhaled all the air I could muster up and gave him his present. He slowly took it from me and gestured me to come inside. I gladly went in and the warmth feeling came back to me. I took a seat next to the fireplace, while Romeo sat next to me.
"I know it's late and everything, but I forgot to give the present to you. It's just a gift to congratulate you on your first win." He eyed the present that I gave him and carefully teared out the wrapping paper. He opened the package and was stunned to have found a skateboard inside. Needless to say, he looked happy.
"How did you know I wanted a skateboard?" He asked, while examining his new skateboard.
"You were really sad when you lost your old skateboard, so I assumed that you would want a new one." He set the skateboard down and gave me a tight, yet loving hug.
"I thought you didn't remember. Thank you so much, Wendy." A small smile formed on my lips as I returned the hug.
"Happy Valentine's Day, Romeo." He released me from the hug and stared deeply into my eyes. I wanted to look away from him, but his eyes were so captivating. My cheeks began to burn when I felt his hands touch mine.
"Hey, Wendy?"
"Y-Yeah?" My breathing hitched, causing me to stutter in front of him. My heart was throbbing and I could feel the weird sensation beginning to take over my stomach. Romeo placed a gentle kiss on my forehead before answering.
"Will you be my valentine?"

Next Update: When I have time...
Wow, how long have I been lying to you guys? After three or somewhat chapters, I can finally present to you my disclaimers. Man, that took forever. Ladies and gentlemen, give it up for Zeref and Mavis!
~~~
Zeref: Geez, took you awhile to get the disclaimers back.
Mavis: Hey, Author-san has been trying her best to give her readers a good fanfic to read.
Author: Actually, I was too lazy and procrastinated...
Mavis: Lame. (-_-)
Zeref: So, why me and Mavis?
Author: It's pretty obvious.
Zeref: Uh, no.
Mavis: It's because we kissed in the manga, dummy.
Zeref: It was all an act, though.
Author: Wait, don't tell me you guys aren't together.
Mavis: Yes.
Zeref: No.
Author: Huh?
Mavis: Zeref! We are together! Quit denying it!
Zeref: No, we're not. You're just hoping that we're together, but we're not.
Mavis: So, the date you planned for us was a total sham?
Zeref: What? No!
Author: So, you are together?
Zeref: What? No!
Mavis: So, you don't like me?
Zeref: What? No!
Author: So, you do like her?
Zeref: What? No!
Mavis: Who am I to you?
Zeref: What? No!
Author: That doesn't even make any sense.
Zeref: What is going on here?
Mavis: Zeref, a-am I nothing to you?
Author: Oh, no. Don't cry, Mavis!
Mavis: B-But, Zeref thinks I'm nothing. Wah~
Zeref: Are you kidding me?
Author: Why are you alive?
Zeref: Excuse me?
Author: You're excused.
Zeref: What? No!
Author: Quit saying that! Be a real man and comfort her!
Zeref: But, that's Elfman's job.
Author: Does my face look like I care? Why do you have to be so mean?
Mavis: I-It's alright, Author-san. I-If Zeref thinks I'm nothing to him, I can't change his mind.
Zeref: I never said a stupid thing like that. It's not that I don't like you. I do. Just not in a romantic way. Don't cry, Mavis. I think you're really special.
Mavis: Y-You do?
Zeref: *gives Mavis a loving hug* I do...
Author: *blows on a tissue*
Mavis: Author-san? Are you ok?
Author: WHY ARE YOU NOT TOGETHER?! (ToT)
Zeref: Hey, you should do the disclaimer, Mavis.
Mavis: Ok! Author-san doesn't own Fairy Tail. Hiro Mashima does. If she did, she would've made Zervis cannon in the anime.
Zeref: What's Zervis?
Mavis: Don't worry about it. It's not going to happen anyways...
Auhor: *painfully dies*
