Chapter 52: Stuffed Animals and the Talk
Hiya Minna~
Guess who's back? Back again?
It's me, the dorky dork! Did you miss me? (Sherlock pun completely intended.)
Also I saw Big Hero 6 and the Book of Life a few days ago and I am completely in love with both of them. I cried for both of them. I cried really hard for BH6 though.
Now guess what? WE HAVE MADE IT TO A MILLION VIEWS. HIGH FIVE ME MY BEST FRIENDS!
Disclaimer: Fairy Tail belongs to the demon lord, Hiro Mashima. Thank you for your service.

~Jellal's POV~
We walked along the boardwalk that was just a mile away from the resort. I held Erza's hand gently in my own. Our shoulders would occasionally brush one another and I could see a small hint of blush appear on her cheeks.
I unconsciously rubbed my face. Before we left the hotel, Erza and Mirajane had decided that they could cover up my tattoo with pounds of concealer and then just give me a pair of sunglasses. Although it did work, it was unbearably itchy and uncomfortable.
In front of us, Juvia had wrapped her entire body around one of Gray's arms and began pointing towards certain stores with her free hand.
"Gray-sama," She chimed with a smile, "Look at that doll! Isn't he the cutest?" In the window of a toy store, countless dolls and plush figures scattered across the colorfully decorated floor.
In the center, roughly lying on a pedestal, was a small stuffed penguin. It's entire body looked like a huge thumb with button eyes and a beak that was only a little larger.
He shrugged, "I've seen cuter." She whipped back and glared at him. He was screwed.
"What could be cuter than Mr. Duckington?" The rain woman hissed at Gray. I could practically see the sweat forming on his forehead.
I called out, "You already named it?" She turned and glared at me. Luckily, Erza was too intoxicated by plush figure of a cake with a face to notice the action.
"Shush, Jellal. Gray-sama still hasn't answered Juvia!" She stared back at the ice mage. "Don't think you can escape this."
"I-I was going to say that -er, um- y-you are the cutest thing I have ever seen!" That definitely calmed her down a bit. She giggled excitedly and pecked him on his cheek for his kind words. I could practically see the blush from where I was standing.
"Romeo-kun, look at this one. Doesn't it look a little funny?" I heard Wendy squeak from behind us. She was crouched down in front of the window and was pointing at some deformed deer plushie.
Romeo was leaning over her shoulder, hovering above her. "I don't know, is think the clown doll wins for weirdest." He stared at said doll for a moment before shuddering and looking away.
"Jellal, buy me this cake."
I turned to see Erza pointing through the glass at a small, woolen cake. Her face was stern, but there was more of a twinkle in her eye than usual. "You do know you can't actually eat the cake, right?"
"Yes," She nodded urgently, "I do."
I sighed in defeat and reached inside my pocket for some spare jewels. I walked into the store, followed by Erza and the others. Wendy and Romeo had run off into the center of the store, while Gray was being pulled around by Juvia.
I walked up to the counter and tapped on the wooden surface. The man sitting behind the counter jolted up and looked at me. He was missing most of his hair except for a small wisp above his head, as well as a rather large mustache.
"Excuse me, sir. How much for that cake doll?" I asked and pointed to the doll that was still hanging in front of the window pane.
He stroked his mustache and said, "About 600 jewel, mister. I am guessing you're getting it for your pretty wife over there." Erza squealed behind me as her face erupted into a blushing frenzy.
I nodded and handed him the money. He got up from his seat and waddled over to the window. With the flick of his wrist, the cake doll fell down into his hands. The man smiled kindly at us before handing Erza the doll.
"Romeo-kun," Wendy smiled from across the room. She was holding a plush Totoro doll that was as large as her torso. "Look at this, it's so cool!"
Romeo nodded and poked the doll in its over grow stomach. "Yeah, pretty awesome."
"I hope I can buy it, how much is it anyway?" She mumbled the last part to herself as she started turning the doll over in her hands. Once she found the tag, she gripped it in her palm and looked at the price.
Her eyes widened as she saw the price. Wendy fell to the ground comically as a gloomy aura surrounded her. "So much money..."
"W-Wendy, are you a-alright?" He stammered as the girl began to sob into Totoro's bottom. As Carla began to comfort her, Romeo slipped the doll out of her arms.
He walked past Erza and I and towards the counter. The cashier, who apparently didn't notice the spectacle Wendy had made, smiled down at Romeo as he threw the doll onto the countertop.
"Is this all you would like?" He asked him as Romeo dropped a sac of jewels into his hands. "I see, would you like a bag?"
"Romeo, where the hell did you get all that money from?" Gray exclaimed from beside us. It was a pretty expensive doll.
Erza squinted her eyes at him, "You didn't steal it, did you? If you did so, I will have to punish you." She summoned a sword and pointed it towards Romeo.
"N-no, of course not! I went on a bunch of jobs before we came here. I had some money left over!" He shook as she drew back her sword. I looked over and saw that Gray had jumped into Juvia's arms.
She struggled to say, "Gray-sama, please get off. Juvia will die." He apologized an dropped to the ground.
Romeo nodded towards us before running over to Wendy's crying form. I couldn't really hear what they were saying, but we could all clearly hear Wendy's screech of excitement, and Romeo's cry of surprise as she jumped on him.
We walked out of the store a little time after that. Gray was carrying a four large bags of stuffed animals for Juvia, which she picked out herself.
He apparently didn't want to be out shown by 'a criminal and a kid'. That comment earned him a proper beating from Erza.
We strolled down the boardwalk until we came across a small café. Juvia turned to Gray and poked him in the arm. "How about we go here?"
"I think that sounds like fun." Wendy chimed in. No matter how much protesting she got from Romeo, she had decided to carry the doll herself.
"They have strawberry cake. I agree to this decision." Erza said while examining the menu board that hung outside the door. I am seriously beginning to suspect that she is a cake addict.
As I watched Romeo and Wendy chat, I had a thought come to my head. "Romeo and I will catch up with you, I want to have a little chat with him."
"That's fine, c'mon Gray-sama, let's get a table." Juvia latched onto his arm and swiftly yanked him into the café. Wendy glanced warily between the two of us, before following after Juvia and Gray.
"You'd better not kill him or anything." Erza glared at me. She crossed her hands over her chest and furrowed her brows with a smirk. "I am rather fond of Romeo, along with the rest of the guild."
I rolled my eyes at her. As if she was one to talk. I sighed, "I'm not going to hurt him or anything. We're just going to have a little talk, right, Romeo?"
He shook nervously, "U-uh, yeah, right."
"See? We're perfectly fine."
"I sincerely hope so." She laughed before turning towards the door. "I'll order you both some food. You should probably hurry with your chat before all the food is gone." And with that, she headed inside.
I placed a hand onto his shoulder causing him to jump slightly. "Come along, Romeo. Let's go over here." I escorted him towards a nearby bench.
We sat down in silence and stared in front of us at the people walking by. After a few minutes without a single word, he spoke up, "So, J-Jellal, what exactly is did y-you want to talk to me about?"
I leaned forward and let my hands rest in my lap. I let out a deep sigh and said abruptly, "Wendy."
"W-Wendy?! W-what about h-her?" He stammered with bright red cheeks. He flung his hands into the air trying to grasp why I would want to take about her.
I let out a low chuckle as he began to stiffen in his seat. "Easy champ, I think it's pretty clear to everyone that you have a thing for her."
"B-but, well I-I, look I can expl-"
I held up my hand and motioned for him to stop. "Its fine and I'm pretty sure she likes you, too."
"Wait, really?" He inched closer to me. It was obvious that he was trying to hold back a smile.
I chuckled again, "Yeah, really. I guess they don't call you 'Romeo' for nothing, huh?" I began to ruffle his hair with one of my hands.
"But listen," I looked at him with a serious face. "You do know about Wendy's past, right? I mean with my Edolas counterpart."
"Um, yes, Wendy told me that Mystogan found her after Grandeeney left her. Why?" He asked me.
"Well, when we first met, I didn't have any memory of my past. She thought that I was Mystogan, and for a while so did I." I stared down at my hands and sighed deeply.
"Even though now we both know that now, I still feel protective over her. I feel like I have some form of responsibility for her. I just don't want to see her hurt, you understand that right?"
"Of course, a-and if it is any consultation, I promise I will never hurt her." Romeo said sternly. When I glanced over at him, I could tell he wasn't joking about this.
"Yeah, I know that. I just wanted to hear you say it." I pushed myself off of the bench. I turned to him and held out my hand. "C'mon let's head back. The girls are waiting for us. Plus Gray is probably getting killed by Erza."
He laughed aloud and grasped my hand. I pulled him to his feet, and he dusted of his pants.
As we walked back towards the café, I heard him say, "Do you really think she likes me?"
"I could not be more certain."

I was honestly debating between which guy would give Romeo this talk. I have this headcanon where all of the guys act like over-protective older brothers to Wendy.
I decided on Jellal because of his past with her and I kept getting all mushy inside just picturing it.
Anyways, I know you were all expecting some giant double date thing with the dragon slayers and the book dorks but this chapter took long enough to write as is.
And there was no way in hell I was skipping this chapter. No possible way.
