The morning sun cast its first light across the castle's stone walls, signaling the beginning of an extraordinary journey. Wendy stood in the center of the grand hall, her heart pounding with a mix of excitement and uncertainty. Today, the group would set off across the worlds, and although Wendy had learned much during her time in the Land of Departure, there was still so much she didn't understand. But as always, she trusted in her companions—Terra, Aqua, and Ventus—and they had a way of making the unknown feel a little less daunting.
Aqua, who had been quietly preparing for the journey, approached Wendy with a soft, gentle smile. In her hands, she held a piece of armor—a light blue and white pauldron that shimmered in the dim light of the hall.
"Wendy," Aqua said, her voice calm and encouraging, "I'd like you to wear this." She extended the pauldron toward Wendy, who hesitated, her brow furrowing in confusion.
Wendy took the armor piece and examined it. The outer surface of the pauldron was beautifully detailed with intricate patterns resembling dragon scales. The design was subtle but ethereal, almost glowing in the light. Small, wind-inspired wing shapes were delicately etched into the pauldron's surface. It had a sleek, form-fitting design, and the curves were graceful, almost as if it was made for someone who moved with the wind itself.
"W-Why do I need to wear this?" Wendy asked, her voice filled with curiosity.
Terra, who had been observing, stepped forward. "The Lanes Between worlds are roads that connect the realms, but they're dangerous places, where the Darkness is especially strong. This pauldron is essential for your protection. By pressing it, you activate the rest of your Keyblade Armor."
Wendy blinked in surprise. "Activate armor?" she repeated, still trying to process the information.
Aqua smiled softly, understanding her confusion. "It might seem strange at first, but this piece will help you when you're traveling between worlds. You'll see what we mean."
To demonstrate, Terra raised his arm and pressed his pauldron. In an instant, a brilliant flash of light enveloped him, and his armor appeared. Terra's Keyblade Armor was a striking blend of dark brown, gold, and red hues, with dull orange lines marking the edges of his gauntlets and boots. His helmet had a black visor, and sharp, upturned red hooks adorned the backs of his boots, giving his appearance an imposing yet dignified presence.
Next, Aqua stepped forward, her own Keyblade Armor appearing with a soft flash as she pressed her pauldron. Aqua's armor was a work of art, primarily in shades of silver, black, purple, and blue. The dull white lines decorated the surface, tracing intricate designs that seemed to shimmer as they moved. Her silver breastplate, shaped like an upside-down crescent moon, gleamed in the light. Like Terra's, Aqua's helmet was adorned with two silver prongs on either side, angled diagonally downwards, giving her an air of both elegance and strength.
Ventus followed, his armor appearing in the same way. It was a blend of steel blue, black, and gold, with hints of red decorating the edges. His knee armor was golden, with sharp, upward-pointing hooks. The most striking feature, however, was his greyish-blue cape, which looked almost rusted, as if it had weathered countless battles. His helmet was sleek and black with a slight orange tint, with prongs on either side of his head, angled backward and upwards, giving it a distinct, aerodynamic design.
Wendy's eyes widened in awe. "Your armor... it's incredible!" she exclaimed, unable to hide her amazement.
Ventus grinned at her reaction. "Glad you like it! Now, you should give it a try."
Wendy hesitated for a moment, unsure if she was ready. But seeing how easily her companions had transformed, she felt a surge of excitement. She pressed the pauldron against her shoulder, and in a flash of light, she felt her entire body enveloped in the power of her Keyblade Armor.
Her armor was a sight to behold. The soft blues, whites, and silvers created an elegant yet protective appearance, the design flowing like a gentle breeze. The chest plate was a lighter shade of blue and featured delicate wind motifs and flowing lines, as if the armor itself was alive with movement. At the center of her chest was a small emblem—a key-like feather that glowed softly, symbolizing her connection to the worlds.
Her gauntlets were lightweight yet sturdy, with small glowing runes and light blue gemstones set into them. The pauldron extended to her upper arms and shoulders, providing protection while allowing for full movement. Her boots, part of the armor, were designed for agility and flexibility, their sleek, aerodynamic design highlighting her swiftness. Around her ankles were subtle wind motifs that seemed to swirl and shift as she moved.
Wendy couldn't help but stare at herself in awe. She had never worn anything like this before. She felt powerful, yet graceful, and for the first time in a long time, she felt truly prepared for the journey ahead.
As she stood there, lost in her thoughts, she couldn't help but imagine what her friends back home, Team Natsu, would think if they saw her in this armor.
Imagined Scene with Team Natsu:
Wendy stood in the middle of the Fairy Tail guild hall, her Keyblade Armor gleaming in the sunlight that streamed through the windows. Natsu, Lucy, Gray, and Happy gathered around her, their eyes wide with surprise.
Natsu was the first to speak, his grin wide and excited. "Whoa, Wendy! You look awesome! You're like a knight or something!"
Lucy gasped in awe. "That armor... it's so elegant, but strong-looking too. It's perfect for you, Wendy!"
Gray raised an eyebrow, crossing his arms with a teasing smirk. "You're getting pretty stylish, huh, Wendy? Don't go stealing all the attention from the rest of us."
Wendy blushed slightly, rubbing the back of her neck. "I... I didn't expect it either," she said with a nervous laugh. "But it feels really light, and it makes me feel... strong."
Happy flew around her, his eyes shining. "You look super cool, Wendy! Like a real hero!" he chirped excitedly.
Wendy giggled softly, her heart swelling with pride at her friends' encouragement. "Thank you, everyone. It feels like I can do anything with this armor."
"You definitely look ready for anything," Lucy said with a smile. "Just be careful not to outshine the rest of us."
Wendy laughed, feeling more confident than ever. "I'll try not to," she said, her voice playful.
Back in the Land of Departure:
Terra, Aqua, and Ventus watched as Wendy marveled at her armor. Aqua's voice broke the silence. "You look incredible, Wendy," she said warmly.
Terra nodded in agreement, his eyes wide. "I never expected your armor to be so... delicate," he remarked, a little surprised at how the sleek design suited her.
Aqua smiled. "It's more elegant than traditional Keyblade Armor, but it still looks powerful. You'll be more than ready for the challenges ahead."
Ventus, his eyes sparkling with excitement, added, "While it's lightweight, it still looks sturdy. Just be careful, Wendy—don't steal the spotlight with armor that cool!"
Wendy laughed softly, feeling a warmth in her chest at their compliments. "I'll try my best," she said with a grin.
Just then, Wendy noticed that Chirithy, who had been quietly watching, was not wearing any armor. Curious, she asked, "Hey, Chirithy, aren't you going to wear armor too?"
Chirithy blinked. "Oh, I don't need one," it said, its voice light and playful. "I can summon my own armor without a pauldron."
Before Wendy could ask how that worked, Chirithy demonstrated. It gracefully flipped through the air, its body glowing with a soft light. As it landed, armor materialized around it.
Chirithy's helmet was soft and rounded, resembling a cloud. The faceplate was smooth, with glowing eyes that shifted between bright colors. Small crescent-shaped markings, like stars, swirled around the edges of the helmet. Its chest piece was sleek and translucent, almost dreamlike in its design, shimmering as if made of moonlight. Instead of traditional gauntlets or boots, Chirithy wore ethereal coverings that glowed softly, made of woven moonlight, with geometric patterns reminiscent of dreamcatchers.
Wendy couldn't help but smile at how cute Chirithy looked in its armor. "Aww, Chirithy, you look adorable!" she said, causing the little creature to blush and fluster in embarrassment.
"W-Wait, you think so? I was just... trying to look cool, not cute!" Chirithy stammered, puffing out its chest in an attempt to appear tougher. The rest of the group laughed, their laughter filling the room with warmth.
Ventus grinned at the scene. "Don't worry, Chirithy. You're definitely cool. But I have to admit, you've got a certain charm."
After the laughter subsided, Ventus explained, "By the way, Keyblades can transform into Keyblade Gliders—flying vehicles that can take us through the Lanes Between. They make traveling easier, and a lot faster."
Wendy's eyes widened in excitement. "That sounds amazing! But... wait, I don't have a Keyblade."
Ventus gave her a reassuring smile. "No worries. You can ride with me on my Keyblade Glider. I'll make sure you're safe."
Wendy's face lit up, her heart soaring. "Thanks, Ventus! I can't wait."
After making the necessary arrangements, the group made their way outside. The cold morning air brushed against Wendy's skin as they descended the castle stairs to the Forecourt. There, Terra, Aqua, and Ventus raised their Keyblades high. In an instant, a swirling portal began to form before them, its edges crackling with energy as it connected to the Lanes Between.
With synchronized precision, they hurled their Keyblades into the air. The weapons transformed into sleek Keyblade Gliders, their designs a perfect reflection of their wielders.
Chirithy raised its tiny paw and closed its eyes, concentrating. Light from around them swirled toward the little creature, bending and shaping into a unique Keyblade Glider, radiant and delicate, much like Chirithy itself.
Wendy grabbed hold of Ventus from behind, and together with their companions, they launched into the Lanes Between. The future awaited them, and Wendy felt a deep sense of resolve. This was just the beginning.
