" a-are you okay? "

。。。

donghyuck didn't know how to feel after the events this morning.

after mark helped him to bed, he woke up a couple hours later to have everything that happened come rushing back. the fairy sat there for a good minute or two just blushing. feeling this newfound rush of weird emotions.

it was only an hour mark would come back from classes while donghyuck would have to start getting ready for his own classes. walking over to his closet, he pulled out a hoodie and kept on the sweats he already had on.

while he was walking out of his room and into the living room, he noticed the small stand up calendar on the coffee table. looking at the date, he realized that it was a week away from valentines day.

cue him letting out a dramatic gasp.

"valentines day! that'd be perfect." feeling that the holiday made his job a bit easier, he skipped into the kitchen, feeling all giddy.

he was actually going to finish a mission for once, and it wasn't going to be a failure! maybe he'll finally escape from the hurt he had received from his own kind.

just maybe, he'll be treated as an equal again.

it was donghyuck's first class of his evening, and he saw no one that he knew. well, until his eyes landed on hana of course.

he rushed over to the empty seat beside her, trying to act all casual when taking the seat.

"oh hey, hana right?" he asked, offering the female a friendly smile.

she turned to the side and also returned the smile, "yup, that's me. donghyuck right? the one mark was touring around campus?"

"that's me. there's no one else i know in this class and yeah, i thought maybe we could be friends."

"of course." hana found the fairy quite adorable. he seemed to be a fun person to hang around as well.

talking a bit more on random miscellaneous subjects, the two finally stopped when the professor entered.

they were taking notes today and donghyuck pulled out his notebook ready to write. but then he forgot about what he we going to write with.

'stupid.' he thought to himself, reaching down to his backpack to find a pencil.

rummaging through the bag for a good minute or two, he came out with nothing. sitting back up, he turned to the female, asking her if she had a pencil.

"i have pens, but no pencils." she pulled out a pen and settled it on donghyuck's notebook.

"thank you."

right when he picked up the pen, he paused for a second.

donghyuck has only ever used capped pens, so he didn't know what the heck even is the pen in his hand is.

he tried pulling off the tip of the pen, but it didn't budge. his eyes burrowed at the contraption.

hana noticed his struggles and chuckled lightly, as she pushed down the end of it. then with a sound of a click, the pen tip revealed itself.

donghyuck just looked at the pen in amazement.

"have you never used a retractable pen before?" hana asked the awestruck male.

donghyuck shook his head no, going ahead and started to push the end down again, seeing the pen tip disappear.

he started to repeat the action until another student told him to stop it. apologizing sheepishly, he clicked the pen on more time so that the pen tip would appear.

no matter how many times donghyuck has entered the human world for missions, he'd never really notice the few advancements of common objects like pens or pencils.

this small new discovery made him a little happy in the inside. he felt like a little kid that found little rolly pollies in the dirt.

for the rest of class, he diligently took his notes. making sure he had everything he needed.

after his classes ended, it was around 7pm as he made his way to the dorms. the street lights on campus were on, illuminating the various paths for him.

as he was walking, a path in particular caught his attention.

it was a path lined with trees with stringed lights on them. the lights also connected the trees together, creating a cool canopy of lights on top of the path itself.

donghyuck walked into the path, staring at the structure in awe.

then an idea struck his mind.

wouldn't this be the perfect place for mark to confess to hana?

it'd be perfect, and he be able to finally successfully finish a mission without help from higher ups.

"donghyuck?" the fairy jumped in shock, letting out a small squeak.

turning around, he was met with the one and only mark lee. and for some reason, he looked like he'd been bawling his eyes out for hours.

his eyes were puffy and red; he still had his pajamas on, hair looking like a bird's nest. mark looked like a mess.

"a-are you okay?" donghyuck asked, wondering what in the hell happened in the couple hours he was gone.

mark on the other hand wasn't. he wasn't okay at all.

the poor boy was heartbroken. and all he needed right now was comfort, some warmth. a few minutes before his encounter with the fairy, he was trying to find hana.

he was aware that it was week before valentines day, and he wanted to take hana out for dinner that night. mark thought it would woo her enough so that he could officially ask her to be his on valentines day.

walking through the halls looking for the female, was a choice he regretted with all his being. because as he walked into the lecture room, he saw her talking with another male. she looked absolutely elated, talking animatedly with him.

mark stayed quiet, watching the scene unfold before him.

"you what?! oh my god, thank you so much yoonie! this is why i love you so much!" the last spoken words made mark's heart just shatter.

hana then gave the male a peck on the lips.

at that point, mark couldn't bare look at her anymore. with a slumped stature, he left the room.

mark had known her for years, and it only made sense for him to slowly fall in love with her. everything about her made mark soar, making him feel like the happiest person in the world.

all of that, just to have the world come crashing down on him in a matter of seconds.
