Sienna POV
The next day of work was brutal because my sleep schedule has been off.
Showing up to work at seven in the morning when going to bed at two a.m, to me is an Olympic sport.
Last night was the drive in movie with Harry and Ezra. After the movie we dropped off my brother because he was getting tired, and then went out for some dessert at a local diner. We ended up sitting in his car for around three more hours just talking about life.
"So," I hear Ellie chime beside me. "How are you?" She asks.
"I'm good," I answer with a polite smile. "You?"
"I am good. So what happened that night at the party? You never spilled." She questions while leaning against the counter near us.
"Basically," I start out with. "The day it was raining really bad, was the day Harry offered to drive me home so I didn't have to walk, after work. It wasn't raining at the time, but he didn't want me to get caught in that. We stopped at a party supply place so I could grab some stuff, and by the time we were done in there, it was raining pretty bad. We decide to sit in the car and wait it out. Came that was a conversation neither of us had the balls to talk about, and that was why we broke up two summers ago." I pause so I can hear her input.
"Oh my god," She says while grabbing my arm. "So who was the skank at his house?"
I don't answer right away, because I remember Harry told me Gemma's sexuality isn't so public right now. "His sister was having sleep overs, and one of the girls, specially if the girl I saw him hug, got told some sad family news. So he was consoling her." I bullshit.
"Oh," Ellie says. "Well, that is not so bad, right?"
"Yeah," I agree.
"So how did the conversation end?" My friend asks while tilting her head.
"I explained my side, and how kissing Isaac was a way to get back. He thought I was with him the whole summer which wasn't true. So in theory, yes we both assumed things."
"Where do you guys leave off now? I for sure thought you guys were meant to be. Besides how your guy's Moms are best friends, and the back story is already romantic, your guys's chemistry was so unique." I feel my cheeks heat by my friends wording.
"Well," I say while laughing. Ellie cracks a grin. "We ended up fucking in his back seat, then I got sad because I am not the one to do that. The party happened hours later and I was still upset about how I felt not used, but used. Then three days later we are figuring it out day by day." I end up summarizing.
"This is so juicy Anna!" She says, getting all giddy. "First of all, hot make up sex, sounds lovely too. Where are the details?"
Our conversation falls silent when we hear the chimes go off to the front door, and a familiar body walk through.
Michelle.
"Oh look who showed up to work," Michelle mocks. I look at the time and see it is five minute till three. Who knew my shift went by so quick.
"When you have a life, sometimes going to work is hard," I retort to the girl standing behind the counter now.
"Some of us don't have Daddy's money, sweetheart." Michelle hums while setting her belongings to the side.
"Some have rich Dads. Some fuck rich Dads. I just so happen to not fuck them. What about you?" I ask harshly. There was a rumor going around that she has had sugar daddies so might as well use it to fuck with her. Do I believe it? No, she never seemed like the type to do that. But once again, I never did know her. Michelle doesn't say anything back to me and Ellie has wide eyes in the corner.
I begin collecting my things so that when my shift is over, I am not with Michelle any longer than I have to be. I knew her working here again would be an issue.
"So rumor has it, you and Styles are back together." Michelle states, changing the topic. Her bright blue eyes stare at me and a smirk falls onto her lips. Her frame is small, always has been. I wonder how long it would take to break her.
"Yep." I say, not feeding into her commentary.
"How are my left overs treating you?" Michelle asks, crossing her arms over her chest. "I hope well, I taught him everything he knows."
"Is lack of communication one?" I joke, making Ellie nudge me and chuckle. I break a smile onto my lips on how I don't take Michelle seriously.
"No, darling. More like sex."
I wonder what happened to the sweet Michelle. She is two years older than us, so maybe the twenty year old life isn't going too smooth. I don't fall for her bate. I know I was his first.
"Okay," I say. "Well, look at the time. I am off the clock. Have a wonderful day Michelle." I say with a fake smile and an obvious wave.
I look at Ellie who looks at me and nods, which tells me she is ready to go. We walk out of the cafe together and she pulls my arm once the door shuts. "How are you not freaking out? You said you were each others firsts." My friend exclaims.
"She is trying to get to me, and it is not working." I reassure my friend who nods.
"Maybe ask still. Michelle hasn't always been this vulgar, it must come from somewhere. They did break up over you." Ellie reminds me.
"That was over two years ago though," I bring up.
"So was your guy's break up and you still were heartbroken," Ellie hums. "Anyways, I gotta go. I told my Mom I would be home to help make dinner. Call me tonight and finish the story about your car sex." I laugh by her sentence and she joins. Her arms wrap around me and then Ellie soon disappears into the parking lot.
I find myself lost for a moment. I didn't believe Michelle, but Ellie has a point. Maybe there was more to their relationship that I didn't know.
Today my Mom let me take her car to work instead of walking, which was nice. I question why I wasn't allowed to bring my car from home to our lake house everyday. It would've saved me from time to time.
***
"How was your shift?" Harry asks me once our movie has ended. His hand is intertwined with mine and his green eyes are staring at me.
I am at his house currently. Our Mom's are out for dinner, and our Dads went golfing with my brother. Poor Ezra is probably bored.
I do like that we are at his house more, and I get to see his world over here as he sees mine at my house.
"It was fine," I say with a sigh. I sit up and rest my back against his bed frame. "Michelle was rude again, but what else was new."
"You worked with Michelle?" He asks, widening his eyes.
"No, she came in a bit early at the end of my shift." I clarify.
"Oh, okay," Harry says while laughing. "So what did she say that was rude?"
"She said something like she taught you everything you know regarding sex." I say, making his eyebrows furrow. "It is stupid, I know, and obviously I don't believe it. It is just irritating."
"We did other stuff when we were together. I just didn't have the heart to go all the way," Harry says. "Remember when you joked to her saying, well, I suppose the same thing she said to you today?"
"Yeah," It was in my backyard when we were having a bonfire two years ago.
"It was because she was the first girl I was fooling around with, and I told her that, so she felt lied to when you made a joke about us ever doing anything." Harry admits making me fall silent. "But we didn't have sex, so in a way, yes, she was lying."
I am not naive to believe Harry has only been with me. I just think it makes me grossed out, or mad when it relates to Michelle. She has always treated me like shit and I don't want to have anything in common with her.
"Well, okay." I say while turning to look at him. His eyebrows furrow and his lips fall on a straight line.
"What does that mean?" Harry asks, chuckling.
"It means, I have nothing else to say about said topic." I hum, making his head shake.
The boy next to me leans in and presses his lips to mine. His hand is now rested on my upper thigh, causing shivers to rush up and down my spine. I pull him in closer towards me, which makes our kiss become more intimate.
We end up laying down on his bed, and his body becomes fitted in-between my thighs.
What makes our moment interrupted is his phone going off with a lot of text messages. It is ding, after ding, after ding.
He pulls away, groans in annoyance and reaches over to his phone to see who is texting him. "Everything okay?" I ask Harry who is silently typing.
"Yeah, just a friend back home telling me about his girl troubles." Harry says while putting his phone back on his nightstand.
"You have never talked to me about people at home," I mention. "Any best friends?"
"I have two, I would say best friends, and a few friends who I see in groups." Harry says.
It is weird, Harry and I have our lives back home, and then our lives here at the lake house. In a way I want to know more about Harry, and the people he hangs out with--the Harry I don't see the other nine months in the year.
"What are their names?" I ask.
"What's with the million questions?" Harry asks, laughing.
"I just want to know more about your life in Pennsylvania." I say honestly.
"There isn't much to know," He says. "I was on my soccer team, I did the short film program at my school for all four years, um, yeah. I wasn't that involved in my high school."
"What about your friends? What are their names?" I ask while sitting up now to face him.
"My best friends names are Dylan, and Claire. I have known them the longest and have been friends with them the longest." He answers.
Oh, a girl best friend. Logan has one and hated me. I hope Claire is nicer.
"Well thank you for answering my questions." I say, pulling off a smile.
His green eyes squint at me. "Today is filled with questions, huh? First Michelle, now a quick q-and-a about my boring life back home. I feel like a celebrity." Harry jokes, making me nudge his shoulder.
"You don't find it weird that we know nothing about each other's home life? Like besides our families. We don't know about each others friends, or other hobbies, or our favorite places in our home towns. None of that is weird to you?" I ask curiously.
"I just think we never had to worry about it, and we still don't. You're going to college far, far away. I am going to college in the city. Our once "home life" is changing. Why go over all of it when we are remaking our lives in this very moment?" Harry offers, making my lips fall on a straight line.
"Yeah, I guess." I say. I look at the clock and see it is six o'clock. "I should be getting home. I told my parents I would clean Ezra's room." I slide off of his mattress, and grab my keys hanging off of his desk.
"Now? They won't be back for a few more hours." He says while standing up. "Did I do something?"
"No, I just have to do some things at home. Don't underestimate Ezra, he is a living slob." I say, cracking a smile.
"I will walk you to your door then." Harry says while grabbing his car keys.
"You need car keys to walk me next door?" I ask, laughing as well as him.
"No, I am gonna go to the store." He says while kissing my cheek.
I try not to question his answer, I guess it is just in my nature to second guess everyone.
We head downstairs, and then we leave his house.
It is quite chilly out today. I can tell it is going to rain soon, which is upsetting. August is filled with storms this year, which is expected but surely annoying.
"I'll text you later." Harry says once we reach my house.
"Okay. Have fun at the store." I say, smiling softly. He kisses me once more before walking back to his house and unlocking his car.
I step into my house, close the door behind me, and sigh. I feel like something was off, and I can't tell what.
