Trolls
*Bilbo Pov*
It is nighttime, the warmth of the fire was welcoming, as I paced back and forth rather nervous. Bombur has prepared a dinner of soup, and the dwarves are eating it. Kili and Fili were watching the horses, as I sighed and stopped pacing as I went over to Bofur.
"He's been a long time." I spoke worried staring out into the night, wondering when Gandalf would finally come back. He left very angrily this afternoon.
"Who?" Bofur asked as he was pouring more soup into two bowls.
"Gandalf." I spoke to him as if it was obvious.
"He's a wizard! He does as he chooses. Here, do us a favor: take this to the lads." Bofur chuckled as he nodded towards the direction of Kili and Fili as I took the two warm bowls in my cold fingers. I took a moment to understand what was happening before I nodded and carefully without spilling the soup, walked towards Kili and Fili.
"Stop it, you've had plenty." I heard Bofur snap annoyed, probably towards Bombur, I had seen him trying to get more soup to eat. I stumbled slipping a little soup burning my cold skin, as through the dark I tried to watch my feet and where I was going as I made my way wobbly over to Fili and Kili who were watching the ponies, however they were staring out in the darkness almost in a daze. I held the bowls out for them but none of them took the food, as I turned from one dwarf to the other frowning.
"What's the matter?" I asked them as they both gulped and looked slightly nervous, and a tint of fear in their eyes.
"We're supposed to be looking out for the ponies." Kili whispered
"Only we've encountered a slight problem." Fili bit his lip nervous as I looked out at the ponies trying to do a quick count.
"We had sixteen." Kili gulped
"Now there's fourteen." Fili finished for him as we examined the group of ponies who were happily eating the grass. I placed the soup down, as we went round looking for who was missing from the group of ponies.
"Daisy and Bungo are missing." Kili reported as I was about to head back.
"Well, that's not good. That is not good at all. Shouldn't we tell Thorin?" I asked them as they both looked alarmed and what I suggested. And tried stopping me laughing nervously, as I frowned. They both were so afraid of their uncle as I shrugged.
"Uhh, no. Let's not worry him. As our official burglar, we thought you might like to look into it." Fili replied rather quickly, as I looked around to see a few trees had looked like they had been uprooted and were lying on the ground. I glanced closer and saw that this was actually a rather recent event.
"Well, uh...look, some--something big uprooted these trees." I gulped as I looked over at the uprooted trees lying on the ground as the others came over nodding.
"That was our thinking." Kili nodded as I felt rather nervous.
"Something very big, and possibly quite dangerous." I mutter, what on middle earth could have done this? Maybe I should have stayed home, this doesn't look like a very friendly monster.
"Hey! There's a light. Over here! Stay down." Fili hissed out as Kili and I ran over towards him quietly along the forest floor. I nearly tripped a few times, as we kneeled down and hid behind one of the uprooted tree. I realized that the light coming from in front of us was actually the light from a fire. Suddenly I gulped and my blood shivered when I heard the harsh laughter coming from that direction.
"What is it?" I asked trying to sound brave, when I was really frightened inside.
"Trolls." Kili sneered, just then Kili and Fili ran further forward as I groaned and rolled my eyes. I stumbled over the uprooted tree, before I remembered the soup and grabbed the two warm bowls for the dwarves before I ran on after them. Just as I kept running I ducked behind a tree, to see a massive ugly mountain troll walking towards the fire, carrying a pony under each arm, as I gasped.
"He's got Myrtle and Minty! I think they're going to eat them, we have to do something." I told the boys.
*Belle Pov*
I was sitting on the ground on my knees comfortably. My wrists ached as they had metal chains clamped on them. In my hands I flicked the pages in my book, only to groan that the pages in the far back were ripped and torn. I groaned as the Troll Bert who was currently cooking in the massive pot, wearing a worn out apron, pulled at the chains slightly as I fell forward onto my stomach from the sudden pull. I sat back against a tree, as I suddenly saw Tom walk back carrying ponies.
I gasped getting to my feet trying to break out from the chains, as the ponies whimpered and whined. Bert wearing a dirty old vest just sneered at the horses as Tom looked them in a pen.
"Mutton yesterday, mutton today, and blimey, if it don't look like mutton again tomorrow." Bert complained, as the horses glanced over at me and smiled. HELP US! Please Princess! They cried out to me in my mind. I am the Fairy of Nature, yes I can talk to animals, one nice thing. I was cautiously watching the trolls as I slowly tried sneaking towards the pen to try and free them.
"Quit yer' griping. These ain't sheep. These is West Nags!" Tom grumbled as I was getting closer, before my hands was drawn forwards. I tried quietly pulling on the chain as it inched closer towards me, as I slowly made my closer to the pen.
"Oh, I don't like 'orse. I never 'ave. Not enough fat on them." William complained. The other just grunted and rolled their eyes.
"I hope you're gonna gut these nags. I don't like the stinky parts." William complained again but this time Bert hit him with his ladle spoon, as I covered my mouth to prevent myself from laughing as William squealed out in pain.
"I said sit down!" Bert snapped as he was looking furious.
"I'm starving! Are we 'aving horse tonight or what?" Tom complained. Man are all these Trolls seriously like babies?
"Shut your cakehole. You'll eat what I give ya'.....HEY!" Opps! I felt my chain being roughly tugged upwards and before I knew it, I was dangling with my arms up in the centre of the three Trolls. I gave a weak smile as they all snarled at me, that is when something small caught my eye. He had brown hair, I think he was a hobbit. He was near the horses and I saw he was trying to set them free. Only the bonds were too strong. He looked up and gasped at me.
"What ya, think you're doing?" Bert snapped at me before I was thrown towards the ground. I winced, I felt a small pain in my side, as I weakly got to my feet. Only to have my knees crumble slightly. I shook it off as they tugged me closer to the fire, keeping me at a short chain.
"What do you want with me?" I asked trying to by the hobbit more time as the three all looked down at me with evil grins. I suddenly felt very vulnerable as if they knew something that I wasn't aware off. Gulping I glanced causally over to where I last saw the hobbit and frowned to notice he wasn't there.
I sighed, glancing at my book that was lying on ground. Glancing at the Trolls who were bickering to and fro, I glanced back at the book. It flew across the ground and into my hand, as I held it behind my back. I sat down beside the warmth of the fire, hoping to think of a plan, as I lifted my hands to my hair, and released a bobby pin, and began to pick at the locks.
"How come 'e's the cook? Everything tastes the same. Everything tastes like chicken." Tom asked rather stupidly.
"Except the chicken." William added.
"That tastes like fish!" Bert snorted.
"I'm just saying, a little appreciation would be nice. 'Thank you very much, Bert,' 'Lovely stew, Bert'; how hard is that? Hmm, it just needs a sprinkle of squirrel dung." Bert snapped at the others, as I felt that I was close to picking the lock, before they pulled my chain making me drop it. I grumbled and silently cursed.
"Me guts are grumbling, I've got to snaffle something. Flesh I need, flesh!" Tom complained before his eyes landed on me, he grinned.
"What bout her" He asked grabbing for me as I tried to get out of his painful grip. I am probably going to get a bruise.
"She is not for eating. That one is wanted remember!" Bert snapped as he stood up pulling at my chains, I winced as I felt like I was being stretched. I gasped in pain, ready to scream when they stopped. I gave a quick sigh of relief.
"Argh!!! Blimey! Bert! Bert! Look what's come out of me 'ooter! It's got arms and legs and everything." William cried out as Bert was holding my chain, leaving me dangling in the air, as Tom had let me go. I glanced over to see the hobbit covered in William's snot, as I cringed wanting to gag. That is disgusting!
"What is it?" Tom asked amazed, as the hobbit began to move around snapping out of his trance.
"I don't know, but I don't like the way it wriggles around!" William whimpered like a baby as he shakes the hobbit out of his handkerchief and onto the ground. I felt my fingers going numb slightly as I was just dangling in thin air.
"What are you then? An oversized squirrel?" Tom asked pointing his big beefy fingers at him.
"I'm a burglar-- uhh, Hobbit." He quickly corrected as I giggled only to get a glare from one of the Trolls holding me as I gave him a weak smile, he only narrowed his eyes at me.
"A Burgla-Hobbit?" William asked stupidly.
"Can we cook 'im? Tom asked rather excited as I felt scared for the Hobbit.
"We can try!" William jumped happily, before he tried to grab at him as he dodges.
"RUN!" I cried out towards him as I swayed roughly as Bert went to corner the Hobbit.
"It's too quick!" William whined as it wasn't long before the three dummies finally grabbed him, as I was still uncomfortably hanging from the chains that Bert held. The Hobbit yelled out as he was hanging upside as Tom was holding him by his legs as the Hobbit was flapping his arms around. Suddenly my arms stopped aching as I smiled happily before I gasped to have Bert grip me by the waist.
I struggled and tried to remove my from his grip but it was no use. I made eye contact with the Hobbit as he gulped. He was scared, we both were.
"Come here, you little... Gotcha! Are there any more of you little fellas 'iding where you shouldn't?" Tom questioned him as the Hobbit tore his eyes away from mine, and looked back at Tom and raised his head up and made eye contact with the Troll.
"Nope." He replied simply as I saw he was looking out towards the bushes. He had friends! He was hoping they would come to his rescue.
"He's lying." William sneered pointing at him.
"No I'm not!" He cried out a little louder than necessary as I quickly picked up what he was doing.
"Hold his toes over the fire. Make him squeal." William suggested as I saw the Hobbit squirm more, as did I as Bert's grip got tighter. Suddenly I saw a young dwarf without a beard, with brown hair with warm eyes, quite handsome running out of the bushes cutting William in the leg as he went. William howled and made him fall down. Bert looked angry, as he gripped harder.
"AHHHH!" Screamed out as tried to get out of his grip faster.
"Drop him!" The dwarf grinned as I raised an eyebrow.
"You what?" Tom asked him.
"I said, drop him." He repeated. Tom threw the hobbit towards the dwarf, and I don't think that's what he expected before he landed on the dwarf knocking them both down. Just then a bunch of maybe thirteen, dwarves came running out yelling brandishing their weapons. They began to fight and started slashing at their legs, as I went wide eyed. OH NO!
"AHHHHHH!" I screamed as I was suddenly dropped from the tight grip of Bert, only to find myself falling into a pair of strong warm arms, before I could even see who it was, I thrown away by my chain. I landed with a thud, on my left as I felt rather painful. I glanced back over to where the dwarf saved me. He looked rather powerful than the others, just by the way he fought.
He wore a sky-blue hood with a long silver tassel. Around his neck he wore a golden chain, upon which was attached a golden key. He had dark brown hair with a few grey strands, yet he was rather young. He was slightly taller than the others. His eyes were pale blue, yet they seemed almost cold. I felt a pull inside me, as I found him rather attractive. He was so entrancing, yet I was snapped out of it when I started getting a tugging at my chains, as I tried pulling back.
"Bilbo!" I heard someone shout as I turned to see the Hobbit caught once again. Two Trolls holding his arms and legs in the air, as I groaned slightly. As I saw the dwarf save me hold back the other that I saw before.
"No!" His strong voice called out as it sent a small tingle down my back. I shook it off, only to be pulled towards the Trolls. I was struggling to resist them.
"Lay down your arms, or we'll rip his off." Tom snapped, as I saw them all look at I'm guessing Bilbo in frustration before they dropped their swords and weapons. I kept trying to resist, and pull against the pulling of the Troll. Of course I'm loosing.
"Tie her up! We can't afford to lose her!" Bert snapped as he gave a final tug at the chain sending me off my feet and into the air, as I swung in the air, trying to get out of the painful chains.
"But she looks so tasty" Tom licked his lips as I he came closer as I kicked him the eye as he howled. I heard the others below laughing, as I watched half of them getting stuffed into bags and the others tied to a stake. Roughly I was placed back down on the ground near the others. My eyes snapped happily as I reached to grab the pin and started attacking my chains....
