Rivendell
*Belle Pov*
We were starting to make our way to Rivendell as we walked across the bridge I gasped at the beauty. A few elves are seen strolling about. I glanced at the dwarves as they all looked uneasy. However Bilbo looked at Rivendell like I did. In awe of it's amazing beauty and elegance. At the entrance I see a dark-haired elf walks down a flight of stairs to greet us.
“Mithrandir.” He called out as a smile appeared on Gandalf's face.
“Ah, Lindir!” Gandalf smiled as Lindir and Gandalf greet each other, the dwarves murmur amongst themselves in distrust.
“Lastannem i athrannedh i Vruinen.” [We heard you had crossed into the Valley.] He spoke in Elvish as I tried not to laugh at the uneasiness of the dwarves as they couldn't understand what was being spoken.
“I must speak with Lord Elrond.” Gandalf insisted.
“My lord Elrond is not here.” Lindir replied.
"BELLE!" I heard a familiar shout as I saw Caspian in his armor a sling over his right shoulder running towards me. A smile and a tear ran down my cheek as I ran to him engulfing him in a tight hug. I saw I could see Thorin jealous.
"Where is Susan?" I asked him as his face paled slightly.
"She won't leave him, he keeps asking for you" he whispered as my breath caught in my throat.
"Take me to him please" I begged as we ran through Rivendell, I flung open the doors to his chamber, where Susan sat on a chair stroking his hand.
"Oh Belle!" She cried as she hugged me tightly crying her eyes out. I rubbed her back, before Caspian and Susan left me as I raced to the bed. Kneeling down and grabbing my father's cold hand as I stroked it, a tear falling from my eye.
"Shhhh my love. I will be with your mother soon enough. Don’t cry for me" He whispered as he rubbed a tear from my face. I glanced up at my father as his words were a struggle. His face was dirty, he had scratches on his arms. His shoulder and stomach was bandage, as I had look only to look away. The stab to his stomach was deep, he had evidently lost a lot of blood.
"Hold on please father. Lord Elrond will be here soon" I begged him.
"You look so much like your mother" He whispered to me as I held his hand that rested on my cheek. I didn't care of the tears flowing now.
"Sing to me" He pleaded as I tried to calm my sobbing to ensure a soft melody. "That song you sang to me yesterday" He coughed violently as I nodded. I drew a shaky breath as I began to sing as my father's breathing grew weaker.
"There's a place out there for us
More than just a prayer or anything you've ever dreamed of
So if you feel like giving up
'Cause you don't fit in down here
Fear is crashing in
Close your eyes and take my hand!
We can be the kings and queens of anything if we believe
It's written in the stars that shine above
A world where you and I belong,
Where faith and love will keep us strong
Exactly who we are is just enough
There's a place for us, there's a place for us
When the water meets the sky,
Where your heart is free and hope comes back to life,
When these broken hands are whole again
We'll will find what we've been waiting for
We were made for so much more!
We can be the kings and queens of anything if we believe
It's written in the stars that shine above,
A world where you and I belong,
Where faith and love will keep us strong,
Exactly who we are is just enough,
There's a place for us, there's a place for us
So hold on, now hold on,
There's a place for us…. NO!" I cried out as his hand dropped from mine, as his eyes closed. His breathing stopped. I was begging for him to come back to me, my head rested on the side of the bed as I cried my eyes out. The door opened as I heard hurried feet halt I didn’t have to look up before I felt a hand on my shoulder.
"I'm sorry Belle." Lord Elrond apologized as I got to my feet and ran from the room. I didn’t know where I was going, nor did I care. When I finally stopped I leant against the wall, my head back eyes closed. My face wet with tears, my heart aching with pain. Sliding down the wall I curled into a ball, as I wept silently.
I heard the sound of feet as I jumped up, my vision slightly blurry from the endless tears. To see Gandalf and the rest of the dwarves, I could see them all gasped. Surprised, yet I met Thorin's eyes as he looked pained and my pain. Gandalf walked forward pulling me to him in a hug as I held onto him scared to let him go, that I would lose him as well.
"I'm so sorry Belle" He whispered as he stroked my hair. My body couldn't cry anymore as I just shook. I still couldn't believe he was gone. I let him go wiping my tears taking a deep breath before I walked towards the balcony looking out to the sky. I held my arms around my body it was quiet behind me, before I heard Susan in tears as she ran to me, weeping as I held her tighter. A single tear fell as all my tears were gone, as we just stood like this for a while. Her arms around me, my head against her chin stroking her hair as I felt like a whole had been cut into my very chest.
When she was done she sniffled, as I held onto her as I numbly walked with her through Rivendell as we went past I could see the sadness in the faces of the Fairies who had survived. We kept going until we came to Lord Elrond as we bowed to him. I was numb inside as my younger sister kept sniffling.
"I'm sorry for your loses Princesses. Rivendell, will hold a funeral for you tonight as tradition" Lord Elrond spoke with grief in his voice as we thanked him. My sister went off to her room, as I followed my feet to find myself where the Dwarves were eating their lunch…..
*Thorin Pov*
When I saw Belle broken, streaming with tears it broke me inside. I wanted to hold and comfort her. I sat beside an empty chair which I am guessing was for the Elf Elrond as I glanced around at the company as we sat around the tables in the Elven court. I didn't like being here it made me uncomfortable sitting here with the enemy. I glance back down at the food and sneered in disgust as it was practically all vegetables, which we dwarves do not appreciate.
“Try it. Just a mouthful.” I heard Dori whisper to Ori who was holding a green leaf looking at it as if it had just turned bright pink.
“I don’t like green food.” Ori complained as he put the leaf back down as I wondered where Belle was. I was wondering what had happened that broke her so deep. Who was the guy she hugged before? Yes I was jealous, I couldn’t help the fact that I was falling hard for her. Even though I know that I shouldn't fall in love especially on a mission like this. But does she even love me like I love her? I glanced over at Dwalin as he looked through a bowl full of greens.
“Where’s the meat?” He questioned as Oin holds up a vegetable with his knife and looks at in disgust. I wasn't going to take a bite of food, it was to dissatisfying to eat greens.
“Have they got any chips?” Ori asked as I raised an eyebrow at the young dwarf as our ears were being tortured with Elf music. An Elf maiden plays a harp in the background and the flute I think as I wished to cover my ears. Elrond and Gandalf walk through the halls of Rivendell as they made their way over towards us as I saw them chuckle before they sat down. I stiffened.
I saw Oin, stuffing a napkin in his hearing trumpet as I smirked trying hard not to laugh, as he looks happy that he can no longer hear the music. Lucky dwarf! My heart shattered slightly when I saw Belle, the fragile beautiful creature walk over towards us. Her eyes red and swollen as she took a seat beside me and Elrond. She didn't look at me, she looked broken and numb.
I placed a hand on hers under the table, as she squeezed it rather hard, though it didn't hurt, almost as if she was afraid my hand would just vanish from her. Before she let me go as I wished she hadn't. I snapped back to reality as Elrond begins to examines the swords Gandalf and I found in the trolls’ hoard. He looks at mine first.
“This is Orcrist, the Goblin Cleaver. A famous blade, forged by the High Elves of the West, my kin. May it serve you well.” He spoke as he hands it to me. I accept it with a nod before Elrond looked back at Gandalf's sword as I glanced at Belle, she didn't touch a thing. She looked like she was in a trance.
“And this is Glamdring, the Foe-hammer, sword of the King of Gondolin. These swords were made for the goblin wars of the First Age...” The Elf spoke as I payed no attention. Just my attention to Belle who was breathing uneven breathes.
“How did you come by these?” The Elf asked Gandalf again.
“We found them in a troll hoard on the Great East Road, shortly before we were ambushed by orcs.” Gandalf spoke as I looked towards Gandalf sternly as I saw him smirk slightly.
“And what were you doing on the Great East Road?” Elrond asked. The nosy Elf! No one answered his question as I felt my body stiff.
"Excuse me Lord Elrond. Is the Piano still in the same room?" Belle asked. Her voice was cracked and broken. You could hear her not wanting to cry as he nodded as she rose. Gandalf, Elrond and I rose with her as she quickly left the room. I felt my eyes following on after her, before I grunted and left the table to follow on after Belle……
