Chapter 8 - Moonlight

Wendy's POV:

"Why do we have to leave in the middle of the night?" I questioned, yawning as Me, Natsu-nii, Yama-kun and Tsukishima walked down the street to where the school was.

"Wen-chan are you tired?" Yama-kun asked me.

"Piggyback." I replied, stretching my arms up, wanting to be carried.

Yama-kun smiled and lifted me onto his back. I was a decent weight for my age, but I decided to use my magic to make me as light as air.

"Whoa Wen-chan you are light." He said as I giggled and held on tighter. Leaning on him, I fell asleep.

Narrator's POV:

Natsu, Tsukishima and Yamaguchi carrying Wendy arrived at where the rest of the team was waiting.

"Ohayo minna." Yamaguchi said, yawning.

A chorus of "Ohayo." and yawns echoed back.

"No way Yamaguchi! Dude! You get to carry Wendy! That's no fair!" Tanaka whisper-yelled, not wanting to wake Wendy up after what happened last time.

Flashback start (man im doing alot of these flashback thingys):

Tanaka walked into the gym, only to find Wendy sleeping on the stage.

"Hey Natsu! Should I wake Wendy up?!" He yelled to Natsu, who was shaking his head frantically and making shushing gestures with his hands.

"Shut up man! She was binge watching anime last night and stayed up to 5 in the morning to finish! She is a monster if you wake her up!" Natsu whisper-yelled to Tanaka, who didn't hear him and started to shake Wendy.

"Oi Wendy! Wake up!"

Suddenly, a cold hand grasped his wrist.

"Tanaka-san. Didn't you hear Natsu-nii? I want to sleep. SO LEAVE ME ALONE!" As Wendy said those last words, she judo  flipped Tanaka off the stage, where he landed on the floor with a grunt.

Looking up, Tanaka saw Wendy standing there, eyes half closed, a blue glow seeming to come out of her and the figure of a dragon could be seen behind her. (metaphorically)

"Everyone RUN!" Natsu yelled, everyone that was in the gym instantly obeying.

As they ran away, the screams of Tanaka could be heard from the gym.

End of flashback (R.I.P Tanaka).

"Oh, man! Oh, man!" Hinata chirped, excited. "Leaving in the middle of the night is pretty exciting!"

"Well, you guys were late last time." Tanaka said, smiling.

"Being an idiot must be nice." Tsukishima said, insulting them. "You can even sleep on a bus."

"What'd you say?!" Tanaka and Hinata yelled then getting shushed by Suga.

"Minna, we'll be arriving at our destination early in the morning once again. Ukai-kun and I will take turns driving." Takeda-sensei said with Coach Ukai yawning next to him.

"Sorry if I nod off." Coach said with another yawn. (never drive a bus when you are half asleep)

"Thank you!" The whole team yelled, Takeda-sensei shushing them afterwards as they were being too loud out of habit. He then went on to check if everyone had everything and telling them to sleep on the ride there.

Suga kept on glancing between Hinata and Kageyama, worrying about them not talking to each other lately. Nishinoya and Tanaka then started yelling about them showing the Tokyo teams what they are made of and getting shushed by Ennoshita.

The bus trip there was calm, by the team's standards. And by calm, they meant chaos. Yamaguchi sat with Wendy while Natsu sat with Tsukishima. The other pairings went like this: Hinata and Kageyama, Tanaka and Nishinoya, Ennoshita and Asahi, Daichi and Suga and Kiyoko and Yachi. The couple were sleeping while everyone else took photos of their cuteness, Suga was reading, Daichi was staring out the window, Natsu was listening to music along with Tsukishima, Nishinoya and Tanaka were nodding their heads to the beat of the music, Hinata was sleeping on Kageyama's shoulder and Ennoshita and Asahi were playing cards.

- le time skippu -

Wendy's POV:

I slept like a log, even though there was a large amount on noise going on in the bus according to Suga. We arrived at Shinzen Private High School mid-morning and Hinata was yelling about the Sky Tree and the Tokyo Tower. I could see a ton of bugs flying around, so I grabbed Yama-kun and Natsu-nii's hands and created a small breeze which kept the bugs away. (aw wendy is protecting them...i hate bugs)

Once we dropped our stuff in the rooms, the guys changed in a separate room to the girls and we all met up in one of the many gyms.

We were versing Fukurodani and one of their players was staring at me weirdly. I think his name was Bokuto?

"Hey Coach? Why is a girl playing on their team?" His name was Kuroo I think? He had asked the coach why a girl (namely me) was playing on a boy's volleyball team.

"Kuroo, she has a letter stating that she can play. If you have a problem with that, take it up with the coaches hosting the camp." Coach Nekomata said with a smirk. He knows who I am, thankfully he doesn't say so.

"But Coach, you are one of the coaches." Kuroo said, sulking while Coach Nekomata just laughed.

The game started and everyone on the team were trying out their new tricks. Not that it went so well. Hinata and Kageyama tried to do the quick with the drop toss, but it landed too short. Asahi tried to do a jump serve but it landed out. Nishinoya attempted a back row set to Asahi, but the set was too low and the ball landed out. Suga, Daichi, Tanaka, Tsukishima and Asahi tried to attempt a synchronised attack, but the ball went right over Tanaka's outstretched fingers. I attempted to perfect my underhand serve with my left hand, but I accidentally sent the ball flying into the roof and it got stuck there. Oops. Fukurodani beat us 12 - 25, with us losing the match.

We had to do a penalty for every time we lost and this time it was "Shinzen's special 'refreshing sprint up the grassy hill.'" I mumbled the same spell that I used on Tanaka when we had the KageHina fight, surrounding everyone with a faint blue glow that was only seen by Yama-kun and Natsu-nii.

"All right. Ready...Go!" Daichi clapped his hands and all of us sped up the hill. I slowly increased the power of the enchant until they made it up to the top in a few seconds, unlike the usual minute it took a normal person to do.

"Whoa! Since when did we get so fast? And when did our stamina increase?" Hinata yelled in curiosity.

"I agree Hinata. It's like we somehow got better." Daichi said, a confused look on his face.

I dropped the enchant and the blue glow surrounding everyone faded. Sighing, I laid down on the ground and rolled back down the hill while ignoring the yells of the team. Reaching the bottom, I heard laughter and yelling as the rest of the team followed me. Yachi was standing there, looking at me with a confused look on her face. I'll probably tell her about my magic next. I thought while laughing along with the team, the enchant forgotten.

We watched the game between Shinzen and Ubugawa as the coach taught Hinata and Yamaguchi about the 'serve and block.'

- le time skip to the end of the day -

At the end of the day, we lost all our games. I was exhausted with enchanting the team so that we could get the penalties done and over with.

"I'm tired~" I sighed, leaning on Natsu-nii.

"Don't lean on me, go lean on the lamp post." He said, gently pushing me towards Tsukishima.

"Tsukki~ Can I come with you?" I asked him, using Yama-kun's nickname for him since he said I could. A grunt was heard, so I took that for a yes. "Thanks Tsukki-chan~!"

We told Daichi and Suga that we were leaving and stepped outside. I sent a small, unnoticeable gust of wind circling around us so that the bugs don't come near.

"Oh, hey, you. Karasuno! You with the glasses and the girl with the blue hair! Would you jump some blocks for us?" Kuroo-san, I think, was standing at the entrance to gym 3 along with Bokuto-san.

"Oh, actually, I'm done for the night. If you'll excuse me." Tsukishima said in a taunting voice.

"What?!" The duo standing at the door cried.

"There's no point in practising spikes without a blocker! Come on!" Bokuto-san said, attempting to convince Tsukishima.

"Why does it have to be me? Why not someone from Fukurodani?" Tsukishima questions.

"There's no limit to Bokuto-san's spiking practice, so everyone runs away pretty quickly." Another guy came up behind Bokuto-san. I think he called him Akaashi.

"I'm too busy whipping this guy into shape." Kuroo-san said, gesturing to a melted Lev on the floor, who said that he would jump some blocks. Lev-san then got lectured by Kuroo-san about being a regular on Nekoma's team.

"He may not look like it, but this guy's one of the top 5 spikers in the country, so it'll be great practice." Kuroo-san came back from lecturing Lev-san and gestured to Bokuto-san, who had a proud smirk on his face.

"So he somehow didn't make it into the top three, huh?" Tsukishima sent a snarky comment towards Bokuto, who got annoyed.

I whacked him in the side, and while he grunted from the pain, I quickly said, "We would like too. Right Tsukki?"

"U-Um n-" I stepped on his foot. "Ouch! I mean, sure."

I smirked in victory as I practically dragged him to the door.

- 30 mins later -

Bokuto-san kept on spiking but Tsukishima stuffed him. There was this one straight that Tsukishima partially blocked, but it still went out. Then Kuroo-san stepped in.

"Well, how about two, then?" He said, smirking.

"I wanna join too!" I yelled, drawing their attention to me.

"Ehh? But cutie, you aren't a volleyball player." Kuroo-san said, making me see red.

"EXCUSE ME BEDHEAD?! DON'T YOU EVER SAY THAT TO MY FACE! I WAS PLAYING IN KARASUNO'S TEAM! ARE YOU BLIND?!" I yelled, making him flinch. Tsukishima had to stop me from attacking him because I was that angry.

"Okay, okay. Calm down. We don't need us getting kicked out because we were too loud." Akaashi-san said, trying to calm me down.

"Can we continue now?" I said, wriggling out of Tsukishima's hold and stretching. Akaashi-san grabbed a volleyball from the crate holding them and Tsukishima and Kuroo-san got into a blocking stance. I however, stood straight with one foot slightly infront of the other. Bokuto-sanwas looking at me weirdly again and it was kinda creeping me out. Kuroo-san was telling Tsukishima to watch the straight before we all jumped at once. Bokuto-san was looking for a clear shot and he aimed at the cross. I moved my hands to block the ball and it slammed into the ground. Kuroo-san and I cheered in celebration, while Bokuto-san got annoyed.

"You know, four eyes, you're great at reading attacks, but your blocks are pretty weak." Bokuto-san said to Tsukishima, making the latter annoyed. "Your arms are so frail that I'm scared I'm gonna break them. You need to stop the ball like you mean it!"

"I'm still a growing boy! I've just started gaining muscle and getting taller." Tsukishima retorted with a smirk, annoying Bokuto-san.

"Talk like that, and the little shrimp is gonna hog all the glory. You guys play the same position, right?" Kuroo-san said in an attempt to piss of Tsukishima. Instead he just stood there. Oh crap. Why did you do that Kuroo-san? I thought, worrying for Kuroo-san's pride. "Huh?"

"I don't think that can be helped. The difference in natural talent between me and Hinata is too great." Tsukishima said in a kind voice that was laced with annoyance. Kuroo-san didn't react, he just stood there with a blank face. Then some teammates of Kuroo-san came in and causing a racket.

"Well, looks like I'll be in the way, so if you'll excuse me." Tsukishima said, walking away with a fake smile.

"Hey!" Kuroo-san yelled at Tsukishima's retreating back.

"Looks like you stepped on a mine, Kuroo-san." Akaashi-san said.

"You pissed him off~" Bokuto-san said, coming up next to Akaashi-san. "At long last, Kuroo-kun, the master of provocation, has failed."

"Well, I wouldn't have thought that..." Kuroo-san said explaining to Bokuto-san about the difference between Tsukishima and Hinata.

"I'm going back to see if I can find Tsukishima. Ja ne~" I said, heading towards the exit.

"Wait, what is your name?" Akaashi said, catching my attention.

"Wendy. Wendy Dragneel." I replied, turning around to face them. They all flinched, since my gaze was like a dragon's. (in the media)

"See ya."

Narrator's POV:

"Whoa, what was that?" Bokuto asked Kuroo and Akaashi, who were still staring at the space where Wendy used to be.

"I don't know." Kuroo said, still in shock.

"I think I know her." Bokuto said in a eerily calm voice compared to his excited one. The other two turned to face him in surprise.

"How dude?" Kuroo questioned, looking at his friend in confusion.

"I have seen her before. In nationals, I mean. There was this player who would always manage to get the ball to land wherever and whenever they wanted. Their nickname was the "The Sky Maiden". Another player was nicknamed the "Salamander". He specialised in defence. That specific duo came from Fairy Tail academy, along with their two aces "Titania" and "Freezer", their setter "Lucky Lucy" and the libero "Black Steel". They are a powerhouse school and even made it to internationals." Bokuto explained to the two confused males.

"Wait, WHAT?! Then what is a powerful duo doing at Karasuno?" Kuroo asked Bokuto, who was thinking (a/n wow bokuto can thinK?!).

"I don't know."

And we go back to Wendy's POV:

I think they figured out who I am. Oh well. The coaches already know so its fine. Hopefully. I thought as I found Tsukishima leaving the gym.

"Oi Tsukki~ G'night!" I yelled, him turning around in surprise at my voice.

"Goodnight Wendy." He said, turning around and heading back into the darkness.

Oh. What if I could teach Yama-kun and Yacchan magic?  The idea popping into my head. But I would probably have to ask Natsu-nii.

- time. skip. - (the chapter is almost done. i think)

Narrator's POV:

Karasuno kept on losing the matches, even with Wendy's help. She tried to make it not so obvious, but it was hard. She tried to keep up her enchantments for most of the games, but collapsed after a few games and had to be subbed out. Luckily, the managers from Fukurodani and Ubugawa brought watermelons that were given to them by the parents from Shinzen High.

Everyone was sitting outside when Bokuto went up to Wendy and asked the one question she wanted to avoid.

"Hey Wendy-san. Are you the 'Sky Maiden'?" He said loudly, drawing everyone's attention to them.

"Huh? What are you talking about?" Wendy replied, acting confused. Now everyone was looking at them.

"I mean, are you from Fairy Tail Academy?"

"Yes. But I have no idea what you mean about this 'Sky Maiden'." Wendy said in a calm manner, one she used for interviews.

"You are from the same school as them, you should know them!" Bokuto yelled.

"No I don't. Let me eat my watermelon in peace." Wendy said, turning away and continuing to eat her food.

"Oh." Bokuto said, dejected.

"You'll find out later."

That one sentence was murmured so quietly, only Bokuto could hear her. He gave a slight nod and went back to where Akaashi was sitting.

Great. Now what?
