As The World Caves In (Pt. 3)

My eyes shot open to the sound of finches. Bandages outlined my bone structure, light bed sheets kept warmth among my flesh. It was as if they were encouraging me to sleep a bit longer. However, I couldn't move. Eventually, I titled my gaze towards an open window. My chest rose and collapsed while I watched with amusement. There were at least eight small birds hopping and fluttering along a distant tree. They were chirping, fighting, playing, and at some moments cuddling. I chuckled as they continued their morning routine.

"They're such energetic little mammals, huh?"

My shoulders jumped. I quickly transferred my attention towards the doorway. My eyes slightly widened, yet I frowned with confusion. There was a man. An offly attractive man. He had brown hair, green eyes, and a dark tan across his body. One hand was snuggled beneath a jean pocket while the other fiddled through his hair. He was very muscular, fortunately he wasn't wearing a t-shirt. My lips parted into a warm smile, however, my throat ached once I flexed my vocals. So, I just nodded in agreement. The stranger grinned with comfort.

Suddenly he began walking towards the edge of my left shoulder. He plopped onto the sheets causing them to flutter and ripple. Both his hands relaxed beside his hips, later he changed his point of view towards me. Which eventually resulted in a staring contest. He laughed with defeat while I smiled.

"You haven't changed at all. It's pretty hilarious, if I'm being honest."

My facials dropped. The stranger quickly caught on and stopped laughing. Sweat began to puddle along my forehead, I grunted and whimpered to the sudden flood of pain. It was a headache, but not the ordinary type.

"Alex?!"

His hand softly ran against my hair. Another pulse of pain scattered causing me to wince. He quickly got up and headed out the door. "Hang on, Alex! I'll grab the sargent." I started panting and heaving with PTSD. My eyes grew red while tears began to form. I was panicking...

I couldn't remember.

Thuds of rushing sprints quickly echoed. I gasped while I gritted my teeth. My body was on fire. Hands quickly fell upon my face, shadows of tall figures tore off the sheets and brought packs of iced water. My heart pounded with fear. I started mumbling. Over time I felt the brush of someone's ear lean against my chin. I began to tremble.

"I can't remember..."

"...Anything."
