Chapter 8
Fae woke up to the sound of her doorbell. She got up groggily as her blanket falls off her body, revealing her pyjama shorts and a loose over the shoulder top. Her hand reaches for the door handle as she rubs her eyes, yawning as she opens the door and leans against it. She blinks away the haze with a sleepy smile, only for it to fall once the figure sunk into her mind.
"Good morning, little sister." Kaname greets, leaning his arm high up on the wall. He wore grey cuff joggers and a tight white shirt. It didn't leave much to the imagination, her eyes lingering on his body, then looks up into his brown eyes as he sends her a flirtatious smile. He obviously saw her checking him out, so she scrunches up her nose and pursed her lips.
"Morning, Kana." Fae croaks, her voice being off from just waking. She takes a step back and tries to hide behind the door.
"I wanted to tell you that I'm leaving early so you won't see me at breakfast." Kaname smiles, leaning closer to Fae. She gives him an irritant look in reply.
"What else do you want, Kaname?" Fae asks, knowing he had something else to say.
"Tsubaki wanted you to take Ema and Yusuke to the anime opening." He sighs, giving up on flirting for the moment.
"Thanks for informing me." She nods as she went to close the door, but stops when she sees his childish pout. She lets out a bitter sigh and raises her hand to her forehead and rubs her temple. "I'll miss you at breakfast, Kana." She said with a scowl, finally closing the door and went to put on some clothes for the day, not waiting to see Kaname's grinning face. She puts on her normal uniform and quickly gets into the elevator. She walks into the kitchen to see Ukyos not in there.
"Ukyo?" No reply. She sighs as she flips on the kettle. She makes herself a cup of coffee and leans against the counter, watching as the second hand slowly moves around the clock. She leans her head back and closes her eyes, taking in the silence of the normal chatter filled house. It didn't feel as lively without any of them there, but she took in the moments of silence that she knew she wouldn't ordinarily get in this rowdy household. She hears the elevator and snaps her eyes open, stretches her muscles and clears her throat and smiles, trying not to seem as tired as before.
"Morning Tsubaki, morning Azusa." Fae smiles as the twins enter the kitchen.
"Fae said morning to me first, Azusa." Tsubaki smiles. Azusa sighs at his twin, but a smile was on his face nevertheless.
"Morning, Fae." Azusa greets.
"You guys leaving early?" Fae asks as she watches Azusa. He opens up the fridge door and Tsubaki sits up on the counter next to her, smiling down with a playful grin.
"Yes, and you'll be watching the release later, won't you?." Azusa smiles, taking something out from the fridge.
"I can't wait to see you guys on stage, and Emmy's really excited too." Fae smiles as she copies Tsubaki and sits next to him. He grins at her and she smiles back faintly, taking a sip from her drink to hide her simper. She was feeling extra bubbly this morning. Whether it was from the coffee, the silence or the twins, she didn't know. Azusa watches his twin as Tsubaki beams at Fae as she talks to him, and Tsubaki seems to be enjoying it. A thought struck Azusa, but he brushes it off as he throws a water bottle at the white-haired male.
"Owie!" Tsubaki whines as Fae laughs at him.
"Good shot, Azu." Fae laughs. Azusa chuckles slightly, rubbing the back of his neck with a blush on his cheeks.
"I want a nickname too." Tsubaki pleads. Fae gives hi a look, her eyes racking his form skeptically. Fae then goes back to drinking her coffee. Azusa chuckles as Tsubaki pouts.
"You two don't want to be late." Fae looks up at the clocks, both boys following her movement. They leave once Fae bids them both good luck. Soon after, Ukyo appears, rushing down the stairs and into the kitchen.
"Morning Ukyo, you're up later than normal." Fae smiles as he opens the cupboard.
"I'm sorry, my alarm didn't go off." Ukyo explains, his cheeks going red with embarrassment. He looks over at the table with surprise. "Thank you for setting the table," he ties on his apron, "would you mind helping me make breakfast?"
"I'd love to." Fae smiles. They make breakfast with little chat as the Asahina's make there way downstairs.
"Yuuse, Emmy, I'll be picking you up today. I'll get you from your class." Fae picking up the plates with food on.
"You can wait out the front!" Yuusuke replies. Fae rolls her eyes at him, laughing. She ruffles his hair with one hand and places his breakfast down with the other. Yuusuke's face turns red, swatting at her hand. She giggles, and sits in the empty seat to Emmas left. Moments later, the legs of the chair scrape against the floor as someone seats themselves beside her. She looks at him, curling up her lip and continues having meaningless conversations with everyone.

Yuusuke, along with his fellow students, begins to pack away as soon as the bell rings, folders and papers being carelessly stuffed into the bottom of their bags. A scrunched up paper in hand, Yuusuke rushes over to Emas' desk, face flushed as he watches her carefully slide sheets of paper into her folder.
"So, when's Fae getting here?" Yuusuke asks, leaning one hand onto the head of Ema's chair. His eyes flicker around the room, his ears sensing the whispers of his classmates whose eyes are trained on the windows, looking into the halls.
"Yuusuke! There's a model looking for you and Hinata!" One boy shouts, waving at his friend. The red-haired boy straightens up, eyes bugging out as he prepares to question his friend. A voice shouts from the classroom door, stopping him in his tracks.
"Yuse! Emmy! I'm here to pick you up!" Fae calls, waving at them both with a cheery smile.
"Yuusuke, is that your girlfriend?" A playful taunt is thrown his way.
"N-No! She's my sister!" Yuusuke shouts, his face going red.
"So, she on the market?" Yuusuke and Ema go red from the talk about their older sister.
"Come on you two, I don't want to be late to my first anime release."Fae smiles, swinging keys between her fingers. "And we get to ride in my new car!"
"New car?" Yuusuke chirps up, stuffing his hands into his pockets.
"Yes! You'll love it, Yuse!" Fae said, hooking arms with both her siblings. Ema giggles at her sister's good mood. Fae walks out the school, arms linked with both younger siblings. Ema was smiling, chatting away with Fae. Yuusuke's face is bright red, trying to pull his arm away. Fae grins, looking around at all the pupils.
"Yuse, you sit in the front with me." Fae said as she presses the button on her keys, only for the headlights flash on a sleek black car. Yuusuke gorks at the car.
"T-That's a... Brabus Rocket! How did you get one of them?!" Yuusuke runs up to it and tries to stare through the blacked out windows, pressing his face up on the glass.
"I'm a cop Yuse, and this baby-" Fae pats the roof "-is a cop car." Yuusuke rushes into the passenger seat as Ema cautiously gets in the back. Yuusuke moves his hands over the black interior surface of the car.
"The inside is awesome! You've even have cupholders, and surround sound, plush chairs, and a radio!" Yuusuke stares at everything in awe.
"Yep, I just had to get this baby when I saw it, I even put some of my own money into it." Fae grins as she starts up the engine.
"I mean, this isn't the best car ever," Yuusuke looks out the window, "I'm going to have the best in the family." Yusuke crosses his arms and looks back at Fae. "But yours is still pretty cool." He slouches in the chair and buckles up with an unimpressed look.
"Yeah." Fae laughs through her nose. "Say that after you fan-girled over it Yuse, pretty convincing." Fae starts it up and changes the gear. "Wait till you see how it's like to have a drive in." Fae smirks. It drives smoothly down the road, and Yuusuke tries not to marvel at how cool his big sister is.
"Emmy, what do you think?" Fae asks.
"I-I'm not that good with cars, but it's really comfy." Ema said akwardly in the back.
"I now have the best car in the presaint. Their cars smell bad and look horrible. But now, I have my own baby that is this sexy beast." Fae smirks proudly, patting the front.
"Thanks for driving us, Fae." Ema thanks as she looks at the passing streets.
"No big deal, I just really wanted to take this baby out for a drive." Fae smiles at her sister in the review mirror.
"How long have you been working in homicide, Fae?" Yusuke asks, clicking through different channels on the radio.
"Um?" She tilts her head, thinking back as she pushes on the break for a red light. "About 7 months, I'm still a rookie but my partner's car got wrecked last week, so we thought it would be a good idea if I got a car for us."
"Only 7 months? You seem like you know what you're doing." Yuusuke in surprise, stopping in touching buttons.
"Well, I left school at sixteen to go to a police academy and got top marks, then worked my way from measly cop jobs up to homicide. I'm the youngest homicide detective in Japan." Fae shrugs. "Plus, I pretty much pretend to know what I'm doing half the time. Fake it till you make it, I guess.
"R-Really? That's amazing, Fae!" Yuusuke looks at her in amazement.
"Yep, a lot of determination and power it took to get where I am, and I couldn't be any happier." Fae smiles brightly. They soon pull up to the parking lot and use their tickets. They went into the crowded halls, waiting for the concert to begin.
