Chapter 6

"You have a call! You have a call!" Tsubaki's phone bellows loudly, a squeaky voice echoing throughout his room. The light breeze coming from his balcony ruffled his anime posters, allowing air to nip at his nose as he laid back in his bed. He lets out a groan at the noise, shuffling himself further under his covers as his arm stretches out, picking up the phone. "You have a-"

"Hello. It's Asahina." Tsubaki mumbles tiredly, yawning as he sat up in his bed.

"Big news, Asahina-san!" Tsubaki's manager shouts down the phone line with excitement.

"How can you be so energetic in the morning? What happened?" Tsubaki asks, running his hand through his unruly white hair. He then rubs at his eyes before fluffing up his pillow. Even with such a comfy bed, it always felt so empty.

"It appears they'll be doing a remake of your favourite anime," Tsubaki widens his eyes at the news, "Do you want to join the audition?"

"Really?" Tsubaki stares blankly at the wall before he jumps around on his bed, grinning. "I'll do it, I'll do it!" Tsubaki jumps out of bed. "I'm absolutely going to take the audition!" He shouts, almost tripping, bedding wrapped around his legs. He couldn't care less.

"I thought you would say that." Tsubaki could hear the smile in his manager's voice. "I'll call you again when I have details."

"Okay!" He chirps. "Thanks!" The wind rushed past his sides as he fell back, flopping down onto his bed. He bounces on the old creaky springs, settling. He could feel his heart pounding in his chest as the gleeful smile wouldn't remove itself. He didn't think he wanted it to disappear. He squeals with glee as he grabs a body pillow, rolling side to side in his bed. "Alright!" He squeals, jumping up. "Only six months ago, one of my dreams came true! And now the other one could come true too!" Tsubaki narrates as he walks to his wardrobe and gets changed. "... So, six months ago, little sisters Fae and Ema came to Asahina family house, where they were welcomed by a lot of brothers." He grabs a brush, speaking into it. "Tsubaki is buoyant with the new lives included. The real-life little sisters of his dream!" He squeals as he hops around his room before dropping his hairbrushes, looking to his door. "I have no time for this, I need to tell Azusa!" He skips out his room and knocks on Azusa's door. "Azusa! Oh? Azusa! Azusa!" Tsubaki pounds at the door. "Azusa?" He placed his ear against the door. "Azusa isn't here." Tsubaki furrows his brows in thought, pouting at the disappearance of his other half.

"Tsubaki?" Fae pokes her head out of her door, sending a confused look down the hallway at the hyper twin. She was peacefully reading until loud shouts came from the hall. Fae didn't realise it was Tsubaki until hearing him — two doors down — banging on Azusa's door.

"What's up? Doing paperwork?" Tsubaki asks as he turns to Fae with a grin.

"Ah, no. I was reading." Fae answers as she steps out of her room. The navy jumper reached her thighs, fluffy socks pulled over jeans. She tugged at her sleeves over her palms, clutching it. Only the end of July, yet it was suddenly cold?

"Hey, are you free now?" Tsubaki asks, hopping down the hallway towards her.

"Why?" Fae asks cautiously, leaning back slightly from his over-excitedness. Tsubaki steps closer and grabs her hands, bringing them to his mouth as if he were going to kiss them.

"Alright!" Tsubaki beams. "Let's go on a date!"

"What?!" Fae shrieks.

"Where do ya' wanna go?" Tsubaki asks as they walk the streets together. Fae wore plain black sneakers and a big white coat that she stuffed her hands inside of and a black knitted scarf around her neck as her hair was tucked inside.

"I don't mind, as long as we get home in time for dinner." Fae answers as she nestles her head inside the scarf. "I did want to get a new game from Akiba and see the Gal Games." Fae admits as she looks up at Tsubaki. He stares down at her, a contagious smile on his face. She smiles shyly, before nuzzling her nose into her scarf. "But I'll go there another time." She mumbles, embarrassed about the information she just shared.

"Ahh! Are you blushing? So cute!" Tsubaki reached his arms out, wrapping them around. Fae grumbles under her breath, trying to push his face away from hers.

"I only came along because I had nothing better to do, Tsubaki!" She gives him a rough shove. "Let go!" Fae placed one hand on his chin, tilting it up and away. "We're not on a date so drop me, you idiot!"

"That again." Tsubaki coos. "So you're going to fulfil the role of Tsundere as well as a little sister?"

"Yes, now let go." Fae purses her lips in annoyance.

"Well, as long as I'm with you I don't mind where we go." Tsubaki admits, letting go of her. "A few days ago I went to this café that sells really delicious cakes."

"A café..?" Fae ponders. She hadn't had lunch yet, so food sounded like a brilliant idea. But then again, she would fill herself up and not eat dinner.

"It's a good place, wanna go there?" Tsubaki asks. She stares up at him, head cocked before deciding.

"Sure." Cake sounded very appealing right at this moment, and only one slice wouldn't spoil her appetite for dinner.

"Then it's decided!" Tsubaki shouts as he hooks arms with Fae, practically dragging her down the street at the rate he was walking. Once coming to a stop, Fae looks up at the cafe. It was rustic, the sign dark brown with golden calligraphy. Even on this chilly day, some patrons were sat outside with a hot beverage. It was sat at the very corner, the outside area curving around with metal tables and parasols. It was a rustic aesthetic.

Tsubaki looks down expectantly at Fae, the same grin plastered across his face as if asking her to congratulate him, tell him what a great job he's done. She huffs, sniffing her nose softly before entering. Walking through the establishment, Fae observes. It is warm, the smell of coffee strong as customers sip their drinks and eat their food. A smile slips onto her face, loosening her scarf. Tsubaki whistles as he takes an appreciative glance at the place, settling himself down in an old brown leather booth that was tucked away in the corner.

"Welcome, how many menus will you be needing?" A man approaches, setting down two sheets before them. He had his black hair slicked back, a perfect white smile and a neat uniform. Like all the other waiters, he wore a black apron with brown stitches, a pocket down into the centre for their notebooks.

"Only two." Tsubaki grins, sticking up two fingers to further his point. The man nods, his face reserved before glancing at Fae. She had removed your coat, folding it up to place down beside herself.

After the male had left, Fae reads through the menu, eyes flickering through different names and prices. Once she had mentally picked, she looks at Tsubaki over the menu. Even as he stared absentmindedly at the painting on the wall, the smile was present on his face.

"They have lots of different cakes and tea flavours," Tsubaki tells her. "They're all really good. Which one would you like, Fae? I'll go for the cake set, a piece of Apple cake and cup of Assam." Fae glances at the menu and smiles happily.

"I'll have a piece of cheesecake and a cup of Darjeeling tea." Fae concludes happily, lifting her hand to her mouth and placing the crook of her index finger against her lip, covering her smile from him. Tsubaki orders the food and watches Fae, a bright smile still on his face. Fae kept on glancing at him, and her curiosity got the better of her quickly.

"You seem happier than normal." She tilts her head. He laughs at this.

"You can tell?! I told you I'm a voice actor already, right?" Tsubaki asks, his face flushing pink.

"Yeah." Fae nods, putting her palm on her cheek and leaning forward on the table.

"Because its part of my work, I can't say much about it, but I'll be taking an audition to become the voice actor of a character I wish to voice most." Tsubaki smiles.

"Is that so?" Fae squints her eyes, watching his movements.

"Yes, I really wanted to tell Azusa about it, which is why I went to his room." Tsubaki informs her, leaning back in his chair.

"But why tell Azusa?" Fae asks. Tsubaki hums in thought.

"Because it's a really important character to me." Tsubaki answers after he had pondered. Then he continued. "It's because Azusa always supported me. I was the one who invited him into this world with me. But Azusa," Tsubaki smile, "he's amazing. He's really amazing. I'm pretty good as well though." Fae laughs through her nose at this. "I want to take this part. Absolutely. For that, I'll have to practise a lot. So, I have to lift my spirit... And do my best." Tsubaki finishes as his eyes sparkle.

"I'm a little surprised." Fae admits, catching Tsubaki's attention as their foods were placed on the table. "You're always making fun of everyone, and to be honest, half the time I can't tell what you're thinking." Fae sits up, looking off to the other people in the room, ignoring Tsubaki's pursed lips.

"That's mean." Tsubaki whines. Fae smiles softly to him, her hair falling forwards with her as she tilts her head.

"But I can tell this is really important to you, working as a voice actor with Azusa." She adds. "I think it's great how you can talk so proudly about your dream and work like this. I'll have to revise my opinion of you." She laughs sheepishly as Tsubaki was star struck by her. "Please do your best at the audition." She gives him a closed-eyed smile.

"... Ah." Tsubaki stared at her, lost for words. Then it suddenly exploded within him. "Of course I will!" Tsubaki beams. "Why, your words of encouragement gave me tremendous strength." Tsubaki hugs her over the table suddenly.

"Don't cling to me like that." Fae deadpans at him, not even bothering to remove his arms. He squeezes her tighter in reply, then places both hands on her shoulder, staring into her soft caramel eyes. "... I'm telling the truth. I feel really motivated now. Thank you Fae, I'll do my best." Fae smiles, giggling at him.

"Even without me, Tsubaki, I'm sure you'd do great." Fae lifts up her tea and takes a sip. They stay for thirty minutes, drinking tea, eating cake and chatting about the recent events in the house. For once Tsubaki didn't seem to agitate Fae like he normally did. She gained a new respect for him after he relieved that he was auditioning for that part. She wished him the best of lucky inwardly, not wanting to voice her happiness in fear of more public affection from him. Tsubaki chatted away, happy that one of his wishes had come true.

"Why don't we go to that game store now?" Tsubaki asks as the waiter takes their dirty dishes away.

"Huh?" Fae furrows her brows at him as they both stand up and head out the door. "No, I can go there some other time." She reassures him. Tsubaki pats her head, making Fae purse her lips as she looks up at him, feeling smaller than usual as she walked with the 176cm male.

"Because this is a date, we should both enjoy this." He sends her a side smile.

"It's not a date!"
