Legolas' POV

Where am I? What is happening to me? I feel empty, weightless.
I do not know who I am, or where I am going.

I hear voices but I cannot make out whay they are saying. They do not sound cruel, but how can I know if they are my allies?

Enemies have a way of making themselves sound like friends. How can I trust anyone? How do I know that they will not hurt me?

I can feel the wounds that have been inflicted on me, the scars that cover my body. What had I done to deserve them?

Did the people who have me do this to me? Why can I not see them? Why can I only remember my injuries?

I want to remember, I want to know who these people are, I want to who I am.

But to do that, I'd have to open my eyes...

Legolas' eyes slowly opened, he blinked several times to adjust them to the light.

Light? When was the last time he had seen light? And why could he remember nothing about himself?

"You're awake."
Legolas jumped at the voice. He looked up and saw a tall, blonde ellon standing beside his bed.

Bed? Why am I in a bed? How can I remember that this is a bed, and that he is an elf, but I cannot remember my own name?

"Legolas? Are you well?"
The elf said sitting down on his bed.

Legolas? Is that my name? No, it cannot be. It must belong to someone else.

Legolas is dead.

"Gwador? Are you alright? You have been asleep for almost two weeks."

Gwador? That means brother, why would he call me his brother? I do not know this elf.

"Who are you? Where am I?"
Legolas tried to sit up, only to gasp in pain as he collapsed back onto his pillow.

The elf in front of him looked confused.
"How do you not know me? I am your brother, Thalion. And you are home Legolas, in Mirkwood."

Brother, Thalion, home, Legolas, Mirkwood. It does seem familiar, but it cannot be right...

"How is he?"
A soft voice came from the door that led into the room. Legolas watched as an elleth entered the room and stood next to Thalion.

"He seems to have no memory."
Thalion took her hand into his.
"He does not remember me, or his home."

Inwë looked at Legolas in concern.
"Do you remember anything Legolas?"
"Why do you call me that?"
"What?"
"Legolas, you keep calling me that."

Inwë exchanged a nervous glance with Thalion.
"Shall I send for Lord Elrond?"
Thalion nodded.
Inwë left the room leaving Legolas alone with Thalion.

Lord Elrond? That name sounds familiar too. So does Thalion, but why can I not-

He was surrounded by enemies whose faces he could not see. They came at him from every direction, cutting off any chance of escape. He tried to fight them off but they continued to come.

He tried to fight them off, but they kept attacking him, and the only face he could recognize was Thalion's. The one who was trying to kill him.

Legolas screamed and shoved Thalion back, unprepared for the sudden attack Thalion fell off the bed and onto the floor.

Legolas leapt out of bed and threw himself at Thalion, his hands going for his throat.
Thalion tried to force his brother off of him but it was no use.

Thalion's legs bucked as he desperately tried to pry Legolas' hands off of his throat. What was wrong with him?

"Thalion!"
A voice screamed his name and two figures ran into the room. One pulled Legolas off of Thalion while the other one knelt beside Thalion.

"Thalion? Thalion are you alright?"
Inwë's eyes were filled with horror at what she had just seen, and Thalion's laboured breathing only added to her anxiety.

"I- I- am- alright."
Thalion filled his starved lungs with air and finally noticed who had saved him.

From Legolas, who had just saved me from Legolas.

Elrond was holding onto Legolas and forcing him back down onto the bed. The younger elf was making the task as difficult as possible.

Thalion felt like he was about to be sick. How could his brother, sweet, kind, little Legolas, have been turned into this?

Elrond was still struggling with Legolas when Inwë spoke up.
"You are hurting him."
Elrond didn't even look in her direction.
"If I do nothing he will attack us!"
"I did not say to do nothing."

Inwë boldly walked over to the bedside, while Elrond held Legolas down Inwë placed a hand comfortingly on his shoulder.

Legolas stopped thrashing and looked up at her, his blue eyes wide with terror.
Inwë motioned for Elrond to remove his hands and he did.

"You do not have to be afraid, you are safe now."
Inwë took his hand into hers and held it gently.
Legolas didn't take his eyes off of her, something seemed to be stirring inside of him.

As if he were remembering something....

Elrond handed Inwë a small bottle and Inwë lifted Legolas' head up.
"Drink this, it will help you
sleep."
He glanced at it warily. They did not know how many times he had been forced to drink poisons and other foul concoctions that had caused him pain or given him nightmares.

Another thing he could remember, yet he couldn't remember who had done it to him or why they had.

"I promise, nothing will happen to you. You are safe now."
Something in her voice soothed him, she reminded him of someone but he could not remember who.

She held the bottle up again, and this time Legolas allowed her to pour it into his mouth. He swallowed the liquid and soon felt weariness settle in.

Inwë laid his head gently back onto the pillow and he closed his eyes, drifting into a peaceful sleep.

Both Elrond and Thalion were in shock.
"How did you do that?"
Thalion asked in bewilderment.
"I- I don't know. I just, he seemed so afraid and I-"

Inwë stopped and faced Elrond.
"Why did he attack Thalion?"
The elf lord sighed.
"I feared that this may happen. Legolas is still in shock over what happened. He is scared, confused, and will do anything to protect himself."

"But why did he see me as a threat? I made no attempt to harm him."
Thalion was beginning to fear that his brother would never turn back to his normal self.

"I do not know, he saw me as a threat as well. The only person he seems to trust at this time is Inwë."

Elrond turned to her as he thought of an idea.
"Perhaps you could spend time with him. Maybe you will be able to help him remember who he is, and who he was."

Neither Inwë or Thalion were sure what he meant by Elrond's last comment, but both were willing to do anything to help Legolas.

"If he does not my presence I will."
Inwë gazed over at Legolas' peaceful form. She knew it was only because of the sleeping powder in the drink that he was able to sleep without any disturbances.

"It is settled then. I will inform Thranduil of what has
happened."
Elrond strode out of the room while Thalion stood silently in a daze.

"Thalion? Are you alright?"
Thalion shook himself from his thoughts and faced her.
"I am fine, but I fear for Legolas."

Inwë smiled comfortingly and entwined her hands into his.
"He will be fine Thalion, and so will you."
Thalion returned her smile and kissed her gently.
"What would I ever do without you?"
