Chapter 7: Beacon

P.O.V. Third

King smiled as he looked at the three figures in front of him. He was about leave so that he could start attending Beacon. He had sent his application a few weeks ago and he was accepted, with some help from Taiyang of course. He had packed a few things that he thought he'd need. "So I guess this is it," King said with a smile as he looked at three in front of him which earned him a slightly sad nod from the male in front of him.

King smiled slightly seeing this and stepped forward to hug each of them. "I'll be sure to write," King said with a sad smile as he looked at the three in front of him. When he said this the three smiled and waved at the male as he began to slowly walk away. King smiled seeing this and waved back towards the three as he continued to walk towards one of the nearby towns. He had purchased a ticket for a bullhead that was going to Vale.

That was one of the few inconveniences about living on a small island like patch was that any time King or the others wanted to go somewhere they usually needed to get a bullhead ticket so that they could go to what city they needed to go to. However King's ticket was a bit cheaper than usual since he only needed to buy one for leaving instead of one for leaving and returning to Patch.

When he arrived he looked around and saw what he was looking for almost immediately. King walked up to the ship with a smile and when he got close a male wearing some armor stopped him. King was a bit confused seeing this and looked at the male in front of him. "Ticket, sir," The male said as he held out his hand.

"Oh, right," King said as he reached into his back pocket and pulled out the ticket. When he did the male nodded and took the ticket. King smiled seeing this and walked onto the bullhead. When he did he saw that it seemed to have a bit more guards on it then usual. There must have been some more grimm in the area than usual. As King waited for the bullhead to take off he looked out the window and saw an oddly familiar figure in the distance.

A female with green hair and green eyes. However King couldn't remember where he had seen her before, but he knew he had seen her somewhere before. After staring at her for a few seconds King shrugged and averted his attention back to the rest of the town. This was going to be the last time that King would get to see Patch for a while, so King tried to savor every detail that he could while he had the chance.

After a few more minutes had passed the bullhead that King was on began to take off and King once again looked out the window and tried to savor the view for as long as he could. As he did he smiled as the ship rose higher into the sky because he was able to see the small house that he called home. As the bullhead slowly began to leave the island King sighed and stopped looking out the window. As he continued to leave the island King sighed and began to walk down the halls of the bullhead.

As he did he saw several people all walking to their room, King sighed and began to make his way towards the room that he had seen on his ticket. King walked down the halls of the bullhead for a few minutes before he finally managed to find the room that he would be staying in. When he did he saw that it was a relatively simple room with a bed that had been bolted in place, two desks that had also been bolted in place, a tv that had been built into the wall, and a small window to the side.

King smiled slightly seeing this and walked over to the bed that was in the room. When he did he tossed his bag to the small area between the bed and desk and began to lay on the bed. He looked up at the ceiling thinking about what things would be like for him at Beacon. He of course told Taiyang where he was going just so that he wouldn't worry about him, or least not worry about him as much.

However he didn't tell Ruby or Yang which school was going to, and he had even went out of his way to ask Taiyang to tell them either. He didn't want his choice influencing them on which schools they went to whenever it was time for them to pick an academy as well. As King stared at the ceiling he sighed starting to become a bit bored and stood up from his bed. King let out a sigh as he walked out of his room and began to explore the massive airship he was in.

As he did he noticed that there seemed to be a few others around his age looking around as well. They must have been accepted into Beacon as well, and were now heading there for their entrance exams just like he was. King eventually made his way to an open area that appeared to be a dining room. King looked around seeing this, seeing several different people sitting together.

King eventually found a table that at the moment was unoccupied. When he sat down he opened the menu that was on the table and began to look through it. As he did a female came up to him with a smile, holding a small pad. "Hello sir, may I take your order?" The female asked as she looked at the male. King nodded hearing and quickly glanced over the menu one final time before laying it on the table.

"I'll have, the carbonara, stuffed cabbage rolls, gratin, and caramel custard," King said as he looked at the female. When he said this the female nodded writing down his order and beginning to walk away with it. King smiled slightly seeing this and began to wait for his food to be brought to him.

After a few minutes had passed the same female from before returned with several plates of food and placed meal that he had ordered in front of him. King's eyes lit up seeing the food in front of him and took a moment to admire the food before he began to eat the food happily. As he did he looked around the room that he was in and noticed that most of the others were eating together.

King sighed a bit saddened seeing this and looked down at the meal in front of him. It hadn't occurred to him until now but this was the first meal that he eating by himself ever since he had started to live with Ruby and the others. He stared blankly at the meal for a few minutes before he sighed and once again began to eat the food. He didn't want to make himself sad over something as simple as that.

Plus if he passed the entrance exam then he'd be able to eat with his new partner and team every day, so he honestly didn't see the point in getting depressed over it. When he finished the meal that he had been brought he let out a relaxed sigh and watched as the female came towards him with a small sheet of paper. She placed it on the table before leaving with a smile. When she did King looked at it and placed a few lien on the piece of paper.

Enough to cover what he had eaten as well as small tip for the waitress. As he left he looked out one of the several windows that were on the ship and saw that they were now over the sea. King stopped for a moment seeing this and turned to look out the window and admired the beauty of what he was seeing. After some time had passed King smiled and turned as he once again began to walk towards the room he had been in.

When he arrived he opened the door and made his way to the bed he had been on several minutes ago. King sat on the bed and reached for the bag that he had brought with him. After he did he searched through it for less than a minute finding what he had been searching for. A small pamphlet about the school he was going to be attending. He opened it and stared at the picture of Beacon for a few minutes.

He hadn't been sure which school he had wanted to pick for a while but when he had finally decided he thought that Beacon would be the best school. Atlas while the most advanced and proficient of the academy's, was also the strictest and from the short pamphlet that King had read it seemed like they pressured their students into joining the Atlesian military. While King thought that would be nice to an extent he couldn't see himself enjoying something as strict as what they were doing.

The others however were fairly hard for King to decide from. The only reason he hadn't picked Shade academy was because he had heard that the weather in Vacuo was rather fickle and tended to change far to often. He had a tough time choosing between Beacon and Haven academy. He had been caught between the two for a while since what he had heard about the two headmasters weren't that good.

He didn't really trust either of them for some odd reason but after several days of not being able to decide King eventually flipped a coin letting fate decide which academy he should attend. After flipping the coin several times to be as impartial as possible he eventually decided that Beacon would be the better school to attend. The classes that the school offered were generic to say the least.

History, Grimm studies, combat class, and dustmatics things that he had to take while attending signal. King looked over the several rooms that were in the pamphlet and smiled as he saw some things that did seem to intrigue him slightly. King then turned and looked at his weapon, a small cuboid that he had named Chromatus. He had built it during his time at Signal with some help from Ruby of course.

He was rather proud of it, and tried to keep it clean, so that it was always battle-ready. King spent the majority of the time he had left cleaning and polishing his weapon. The last thing he wanted was for his weapon to malfunction during the entrance exams. After several hours King felt the bullhead sudden start to slow down causing him to lose his balance slightly. King smiled seeing this and strapped his weapon to the back of his waist before reaching for his bag.

King walked towards an area that he saw several others gathering and waited near an area in the back that was a bit less crowded. He was a patient guy, so he didn't mind waiting until the others had left before he got to leave as well. When the bullhead came to a complete stop King once again lost his balance feeling the sudden change in speed.

After a few seconds the doors opened and the several men and women that had been standing around the exit began to pour out of the small exit in front of them. King waited patiently for most of the people in front of him to get off the large machine and once they had King began to make his way towards the exit as well. When he did he turned and began to look at all the building that were in Vale.

King was a bit confused as to where Beacon was at first so he once again reached into his bag and pulled out the small pamphlet that he had. He looked at the picture and from what he saw the building looked to fairly big so he was sure that if he searched long enough he'd eventually find the building that he was looking for. As he walked down the streets he looked around trying to find the building and when he did he smiled and began to move towards it.

As he approached one of the several turns that Vale had he ended up running into a female and accidentally knocking her down. After taking a few moments to reorient himself King looked down at the female. "Oh, I'm sorry," King said almost immediately as he reached down towards the female in front of him. She was rubbing her head and she seemed slightly pained by what just happened.

"No, it's fine," She said as she reached for King's hand and he helped her off the ground. "I wasn't paying attention to where I was going," The female said as she looked at the male. King shook his head hearing this and looked at the female in front of him.

"I can't say I was exactly paying attention to my surroundings either," King said as he helped the female off the ground. Now that he had the chance to look at her King began to take in her features. She appeared to be around the same age as King, she had orangish-red eyes, and long blonde hair that reached to the middle of her back however for some reason it seemed to suddenly change from blonde to white after it reached her neck.

She also had two ears that were on top of her head and while King couldn't tell what type they were but King guessed that they were either wolf or fox ears, however the tail that was protruding from her lower-back made King think that they were wolf ears. She was wearing a red shirt with a yellow button shirt over it however she only had the top button had been adjusted, and she was wearing a yellow skirt with red trimmings, and stockings that reached just under her skirt.

"Sorry, I was a bit of a rush," King began as he pointed towards the large building in the distance. "I was on my way to Beacon, and I was a bit excited and got a little distracted," King admitted as he looked at the female. The female shook her head hearing this and smiled as she looked at King.

"No it's fine, that's where I was going as well," The female said with a smile as she began to walk beside King. "Oh, my name's Fia, by the way," The female that King now knew was named Fia said as she looked at the male in front of her.

"I'm King," The male said as he looked at Fia. When the two said this Fia placed her hands behind her back and looked at the male.

"So, King what do you think it's going to be like at Beacon?" Fia asked as she turned to look at the male beside her.

"I don't know, I'd imagine it'll be fairly exciting since we'll be training to fight grimm. As far as that goes a few of our class assignments might actually be to kill a few types of grimm," King said as he looked at the female next to him. Fia smiled hearing this and continued to walk beside the male.

"So King, who are you hoping is on your team?" Fia asked as she looked at the male beside her. King seemed a bit confused hearing this and thought about the question for a few seconds before looking back at the female.

"Honestly, I hadn't given it much thought. I guess I don't really care who I get placed on a team with," King said as he looked at the female next to him.

"Really?" Fia asked a bit surprised as she looked at the male next to her before quickly replacing her surprised expression with a smile. "That's a bit surprising," Fia said as she looked at the male in front of her.

"Really? Why?" King asked as he looked at the female next to him.

"Well, sometimes people like to attend the same academy as their friends so they'll usually sign up together and hope that they get to be partners or if nothing else that they get placed on the same team. So I just assumed that you did the same thing," Fia said as she looked at the male beside her.

"Oh, I see," King said as he looked at the female in front of him. "No that's not the case, I guess I could have waited until it was time for my sisters to start attending a huntsmen school as well but I would have to wait a few years for something like that to happen," King said as he looked at the female in front of him.

"I see, I see," Fia chimed as she jumped in front of the male with a smile turning so that she could face him. "So you have sisters then?" Fia asked with a smile as she continued to walk backwards.

"Yeah, I have two," King said as he looked at the female in front of him. Fia smiled hearing this and turned stopping for a moment so that she could once again walk beside King.

"I see, then I guess me and you are kind of similar," Fia said as she looked at the massive building they were walking towards.

"How so?" King asked as he looked at the female in front of him.

"You grew up with two younger sisters, and I grew up with two younger brothers," Fia said as the two finally arrived on the campus. When they did the two looked around and saw several students walking towards a certain room. The two began to follow the others and when they arrived. They saw a room filled with several students.

King looked around for a spot, Fia of course noticed this and smiled as she looked for a spot as well. "Oh there's one," Fia said as she grabbed the male's hand and began to walk towards the location. King smiled seeing this and the two waited until a male with silver hair and brown eyes walked onto the stage. He stood in front of the microphone for a moments letting silence fall over the room before he began to speak.

"Today we stand together united. Mistal, Atlas, Vacuo, Vale, the four kingdoms of Remnant. On this day nearly eighty years ago, the largest war in recorded history came to an end. It was a war of ignorance, of greed, and of oppression. A war that was about much more, than where borders fell or who traded with whom, but about the very idea of individualism itself. We fought for countless reasons, one of which being the destruction of all forms of art and self expression," Ozpin began as he looked at the crowd in front of him.

As he did he was filled with a small amount of hope seeing all the students in front of him. "And, as you are well aware, that was something many could not stand for. As a result, those who opposed this tyranny began naming their children after one of the core aspects of art itself, color. It was their way to demonstrate that not only would they refuse to tolerate this oppression, but neither would the generations to come, and it was a trend that is held to this very day," Ozpin said as he looked at the students in front of him.

He knew this was a fact as many of the students names that he had received were named after colors, or other variants of colors. A fact that he was rather proud of. "We encourage individuality, expressionism, and unity through diversity. As I have said, today we stand together, united. But, this bond cannot exist without effort. Which is why, today, while the rest world celebrates peace, huntsmen and huntresses will work to uphold it," Ozpin said as he continued to look around the room before his eyes landed on a few figures that he thought were interesting.Several that he had recruited while he had been traveling around remnant.

"But, no matter which path you choose remember to be safe, remember your training, and remember to do your very best," Ozpin said as he looked at the students in front of him. As soon as he said this a female with blonde hair that was tied back into a bun walked onto the stage beside the male. "Now then, this year the entrance exam will be a bit different due to the large amount of applicants that we received. Would all the female's please follow professor Glynda," The male said as he gestured to the female beside him.

As soon as he said this the female began to walk back from where she had come from and King noticed that a large number of the students began to follow the female and make their way to the halls of Beacon. As they did Fia gave King a smile and waved as she began to walk towards the crowd. After several minutes had passed Ozpin looked at the remaining students. "Now, the rest of you follow me," Ozpin said as he began to make is way to the halls as well.

As he did King began to follow the male to the halls and after several minutes Ozpin eventually came to a stop in a large open room. "This is where you all will be staying for the night," Ozpin said as he turned to look at the figures in front of him. "I suggest you all get plenty of rest, because tomorrow's test isn't something you'll want to take lightly," Ozpin said as he looked at the several students in front of him before he walked out of the room.

When he did the students all began to look around the room seeing several blankets, and pillows scattered across the room. Each student managed to get one and King looked around seeing several different types of people in the room. However for whatever reason King felt uneasy and began to look for a part of the room that was slightly less crowded.

King sighed as he began to walk to an area of the room that was slightly separated from the others. When he did he began to lay down and looked up at the ceiling thinking about the different types of exams that he'd have to do. King didn't think it was going to be a written exam considering the fact that if it was then the headmaster most likely would have just let them take it. There was no reason to keep them overnight if it was a written exam.

King sighed with these thoughts and covered himself with the covers he had been given. King then closed his eyes and began to slowly drift off to sleep. He didn't see the point in thinking about it that much, since he'd find out eventually anyway. However despite knowing this King still let his imagination get the better of him.
