Chapter 11
(Back in the present)
Blaza was back in electrical, again reliving the horrible day in his dreams.
He took a deep breath, heading around the corner to face the creature.
"You think you can take advantage of me?"
It hissed.
It's voice still gave Blaza chills.
"It's quite the other way around." It laughed, again making Blaza want to die on the spot.
"You want my next move? Fine: the king requires protection, or else it is vulnerable. Once that protection is removed, one can enter their endgame."
Blaza woke in a cold sweat, again.
He was sick of this.
What did the creature mean, 'the king requires protection'?
The first thing it'd told him rang in his ears.
"You, on the other hand, are the king."
He shivered. The king was an important piece, right?
Fire burned within Blaza again as he thought about how the creature treated everyone as if they were some piece in its stupid game. What did it even want from him anyway?
He grabbed his sunglasses off the nightstand.
According to Socks, he wore them often before he'd gotten amnesia. After wearing them around the ship for awhile, he realized just why he did.
He was harder to read when he had them on.
That one thing made them worth it.
He hated how everyone always worried about him, and knew how them worrying and him being upset set the mood for the rest of the room.
If they couldn't tell what he was really feeling as easily, he could keep the mood cheery. It pained him to see how he worried everyone, mostly Socks. He just wanted them to stop. He was fine. Probably.
His watch buzzed. He looked down at the hologram emerging from it and gasped.
He rocketed out of bed and headed toward reactor, the location the body was reported.
He made it to reactor and glanced inside to see Oompas body laying next to Simon Says.
Blaza stared at the corpse, trembling as other memories came back to his mind.
MemeGods stabbed body laying at the foot of his bed, Dinos limp form laying over the nightstand, TBVG laying lifeless infront of him in electrical, Tenson bleeding out next to Tbh and Bruh...
Tommy seemed to be the first to notice Blaza trembling.
"Hey, you ok?" He asked softly, standing next to Blaza.
"No..." Blaza said truthfully.
"Don't worry. We'll find out who did this." Tommy answered, determination burning in his eyes.
Blaza smiled weakly at Tommy.
Tommy was normally pretty shy, but was definitely one of the nicest people left on the ship. His words were convincing, even if he himself didn't believe them, he had for sure convinced Blaza.
"Yeah. You're right." Blaza said, a newfound confidence blazing in his chest. Whoever the impostor was, they would pay for their crimes.
Bruh and Tbh came in from medbay.
"Wait, shouldn't you guys be in bed? Or something?" Oof said, noticing immediately.
"We're fine. We didn't get hurt too bad." Bruh said.
"Tbh literally has a hole in his shoulder. That's not fine." Socks added.
"No, I-I'm alright. It doesn't hurt that bad..." Tbh said, making it clear that it did hurt.
"We just want to help find who did it. If you want, we can go back afterwards." Bruh said coolly after shooting Tb a look.
There seemed to be tension between the two, but Blaza couldn't think why.
"Is there anyone we know it can't be?" Socks said, seemingly going detective mode.
"Well, not Bruh, Blaza, or Tbh, since they all got attacked." Oof said.
Woolf looked to the floor.
"I think it's Laff."
"What?!?"
Laff stared at Woolf, both fear and shock in his eyes.
"It isn't me!"
"Tenson said it was you before... now he's dead..." Woolf continued.
"That does make sense..." Tommy murmured beside Blaza.
"I... I think it is him." Socks muttered, barely loud enough for anyone to hear.
"I-" Laff began, failing to finish his sentence due to interruption from Woolf.
"If it is him, what do we do about it?"
"The Airlock?" Tommy suggested.
"Okay then. Are we in agreement?"
Everyone but Nadwe, Tbh, and Laff nodded.
"Please! Youse've got the wrong guy!" Laff said, backing away from everyone else.
"Sorry Laff." Socks muttered, grabbing Laff by the arm.
"Please!" Laff squealed as Woolf grabbed his other arm and dragged him toward the airlock.
In about a minute of Laff kicking and screaming, Socks and Woolf managed to get him inside the airlock.
Woolf refused to look at Laff as he placed his hand on the lever that would end it all.
Blaza caught Laffs eyes as he looked desperately through the small glass window.
In that last second, Blaza knew they'd made a mistake.
But Woolf had already pulled the lever.
