Prologue

"Mom, please!  I swear, I'll do twice as many concerts and catch up on my chores!" I begged.  She groaned again,"Emelia, we've been over this, what if they find out it's you?  You're one of the leading artists and aren't even eighteen yet!"

I pouted, and crossed my arms,"I went to school when I was twelve, then you decided, "Blah, no, no more friends for you!" No one hangs out with me anymore!  I'm one of the most well-known people on Earth, and yet I don't have a single a friend.  Not even one!"

My mom was silent for about five minutes,"Fine.  You know what?  I'll let you go to the public high-school, but I'm going to think more on it tonight."  She sighed and rubbed her temples, trying to ease a headache coming on from my shouting.

I grinned and started squealing,"Mom, I promise I will never do anything bad again, and I'll start making a new song right now!"  I ran upstairs before she could change her mind.

The next day I went right up; to her mom after getting ready and looked at her expectantly.  My mom sighed, "Yes, I know, and I wrote up a list of rules you have to follow in school."  She slid a slip of paper towards me and I took it hungrily.

1.  You may not join any clubs or classes that would force you to sing.
2.  Expanding on the first rule, don't sing in school or areas with other children who don't know about your career already.
3.  Never tell anyone what your career is, whether that be directly or indirectly.
4.  No boys.
5.  You have to get Bs or above to stay in your clubs.

I rolled my eye at the boy thing, but it was a legitimate concern.  Scandals are never good for a singer.  I smiled before hugging my mom tight.  "When do I start school?" I ask her.  She answers,"In a week, alright?"  I nodded, "Also, no wonder you're my lawyer."  We both laugh and start eating breakfast that dad made.
