Recently, there has been some new reveals about Kasen, so let's get to the new (and old) facts about her!

1. Kasen Ibaraki was first introduced in the comic Wild and Horned Hermit. It mainly focuses on Kasen's adventures in Gensokyo, along with an unraveling discovery.

2. She has the ability to guide animals. She communicate with many animals, including beasts and dragons. 

3. Guiding animals is not the only ability she has. Other abilities include her artificial arm, hiding her home, and her true potential.

4. The bandaged arm that Kasen has is actually an artificial arm. Kasen can easily detach it to act independently and even crush vengeful spirits.

5. It is unknown whether Kasen is a real hermit or not.

6. Despite her appearance, Kasen is actually one of the Sages of Gensokyo, a group responsible for creating Gensokyo and the Great Hakurei Barrier.

Kasen's first appearance in the Touhou games was the spinoff game Urban Legend in Limbo as a playable character. She reprises her role as a playable character in Antinomy of Common Flowers.

8. Kasen was originally going to be the extra stage boss in Ten Desires, but was replaced by Mamizou.

9. Because of this, a fanmade phantasm stage was made for Ten Desires, with Murasa being the midboss and Kasen the phantasm boss.

Note that Perfect Cherry Blossom is the only game to have a Phantasm stage.

10. Due to Kasen being a hermit, she is not required to eat that much. As a result, many fans depict her of being really thin and draw her in a way that her ribs can be seen. Her skinny rib look is given the nickname "Rib-kasen" (Abarakasen), Abara being a pun on Ibara, her last name.

11. In contrast, most of the artworks show Kasen having a moderate frame and figure. (as seen in Wild and Horned Hermit)

12. Kasen's actual right arm first appeared in Chapter 49, Part 1 of Wild and Horned Hermit, where it was revealed that it contained the malevolence of Kasen's true form.

Kasen's Right Arm has a differing appearance to Kasen. She has visible horns, an existing right arm (physical one, to be exact), and a navy tabard. Due to the right arm containing Kasen's malevolence, her characteristics show as well; having sharper looks, feral expressions, and other beastly-looking features.

Think of her as Orochi Iori or something.

14. According to me, the right arm will be called Blue Kasen because I don't want to say Kasen's Right Arm every time I speak about her.

Also featured in Chapter 49 of Wild and Horned Hermit is Kasen's true form, which is revealed that she is actually an Oni.

Kasen's oni form appears when she fuses with Blue Kasen and attaches her into her right arm. 

17. This is actually similar to Morrigan Aensland from the Darkstalkers series, as some of her power was sent into a new body, named Lilith. She and Lilith would later refuse together in order for Morrigan to access her true power.

18. Seen above, Kasen is one of the Big Four Oni (or the Four Devas) of the mountain. The other three are Suika, Yuugi, and an unknown oni that has yet to be revealed (as of 7/13/19).

Because Blue Kasen is fully free willed and independent, she can take full control of True Kasen. This implies that True Kasen actually has two personalities (or souls) living in it; the Good Kasen (the one with the artificial arm) and Blue Kasen.

After Reimu resealed the right arm, Kasen's oni horns have become small again, meaning that her horns grow bigger when she is in her true form.

Kasen's Right Arm cannot be destroyed, even with burning or stabbing it.

As of Chapter 50 in Wild and Horned Hermit, Kasen's right arm is currently sealed and mummified. She places the sealed box beside her to compare it to see your own and coming death.

23. I almost forgot what her oni form is based off. She is based off the Ibaraki-douji, an oni that broke into Japan on a rampage and has its arm cut off. This provided the basis on Kasen's missing right arm.
