Alpacas-

1) Alpacas produce one of the world's finest and most luxurious natural fibers.

2) Alpacas maintained a central place in the Incan civilization of the Andes Mountains in Peru.

3) The lifespan of an alpaca is about 20 years.

4) Adult alpacas are about 36 feet tall.

5) Adult alpacas weigh between 100-200 pounds.

6) Alpacas can die from loneliness so they are always bought and sold in pairs.

7) Alpacas rarely bite or butt humans. They don't have sharp teeth, horns, hooves or claws.

8) They make great lawn mowers because instead of pulling the grass out by the root they nibble off the top of the plant.

9) Their feet have soft pads which won't churn up the earth.

10) Alpacas and llamas are cousins but not a lot about them is similar to the other.
