Chapter 19- Bethany Ann

Damion and I stood when Mike, Liam, and Vincent walked into the house. "Vincent," Damion greeted the male with a fake smile on his face. He walked over to the other male and went to shake his hand. "How are you today?"

Vincent didn't reply and glared at me. He folded his arms across his chest, ignoring my mate's attempt at making a respectful gesture. "Well?" he asked growling. "Where are they?"

I cocked my head and studied him, not fazed about this growling male. "I don't know who you are talking about," I said. I gestured to the office and watched him look at the office before he looked back at me. "Shall we go into the office and talk?"

"No," he replied. "There is no need to go into the office because we can talk right here." He tapped his finger on his arm and scowled. "I want my mate back and kids. I know that you have them."

"I do?" I inquired, raising an eyebrow. "Why would I have members of a different pack?" I shrugged. "If that is what you are thinking, then I don't think that we should have a meeting at all."

'What are you doing?' Damion asked. He shifted on his feet and stared at Vincent with a calculating gaze. His whole body was tense, and I knew that he did not like me, acting like I did not know anything.

'Trust me,' I replied. I flashed him a small smirk before I turned my gaze to Vincent. "Unless I do have them, but I won't say anything until we are in the office. I mean, you don't know anything and are assuming that I know something."

Vincent narrowed his eyes and growled. He took a threatening step towards me, and the men around me shifted but didn't move to block his view of me. "What games are you playing?" he asked, snarling. "Do you know where they are or not? It is a simple, yes, or no question."

"Is it?" I asked. I gestured to the office, and he looked at the office before he looked at me. "Then come in so that we can discuss this. Unless you don't want to know the simple answer to your simple question."

Vincent set his jaw and narrowed his eyes. He folded his arms across his chest before he huffed. "Fine," he said snarling. The other Alpha gritted his teeth, and I could tell that he wanted to do something but knew that he wouldn't be able to because of the three men gathered at my side.

I smiled and gestured for him to go into the office. I was grateful that I had my pack near me because I knew that I would be freaking out if I was on my own with him. "Go in," I said, "and take a seat in front of the desk. The one behind it is for my mate."

"Then why don't you all go in, and I will follow?" Vincent asked. "I mean, you seem to have claimed the seat before I could. Why not do it in person?"

"Because I don't trust you," I replied. "I have a feeling that you will try and find them to take them back with you." I gave him a pointed look, and he narrowed his eyes and scowled. "Now, are you going to go in on your own, or do we have to pull you in?"

Vincent growled and took another threatening step forward until he was in front of me. He narrowed his eyes and growled again, and all I did was raise an eyebrow and waited for him to do something.

I raised my eyebrow higher and still waited, my whole body ready in case he wanted to turn around and attack me. I felt my pack members shift, and I knew that they were ready and were waiting on my signal to do something, even if I didn't want it.

Finally, Vincent growled but nodded, gritting his teeth together because he knew he wouldn't win. "Fine," he said as if that was the worst thing he could say. He shoved past us and walked into the office that we had asked him to go in.

I rolled my eyes at the older male and scowled, not liking his attitude. However, I didn't comment and walked in with the other three following me.

Damion wrapped his arm around my waist and kissed the top of my head. 'I'm proud of you,' he said, softly, and a small blush appeared in my cheeks. 'You did a great job handling him.'

I let out a soft breath and nodded my head, happy that my mate was happy with what I had done. To be frank, it was stressful to try and make it seem that I wasn't afraid of him when I was.

I was terrified of what he could do, knowing all too well the potential that he had in killing people. I knew that he didn't have a heart first hand.

If he did, he would have left my family alone, but he had them killed instead.

He had the strength and the means to kill me and not only me but my pack. And for those that he didn't kill, he would manipulate them until they did his bidding, no matter what it was.

He would have them lie, cheat, steal, and kill. He would have some living in fear while others would think that he was a god that walked this green earth.

My "father" would do anything at the thought of gaining more power. He wouldn't rest until he got it, not caring about the lives that he destroyed in the end. And again, I knew that first hand because he had taken everything from me before I had met Damion and the pack.

He had taken away my mother, my brother, and my adopted father. He had some assholes kill them when we were celebrating and having fun with each other. He had almost killed me and would've if it wasn't for some reason as to why I was still alive on that night, that bitter night that helped shape me into the person that I was today, with that haunting message still playing every so often in the back of my mind.

Your father says hi.
