Chapter 10- Damion
I watched as my mate walked back with her brother, worried. I flicked my eyes over the both of them and nodded my head, seeing that they both were alright and in one piece.
My mate raised an eyebrow and cocked her head, her eyes flashing more silver. "What was that for?" she asked, noticing the nod that I had given them. "Think I would hurt him?"
I pulled her to me, loving the sparks happening between us. I kissed her lips, and she chuckled, and her brother gagged. "No," I said, pulling away but keeping her in my arms. "I thought you would hurt each other."
"Hmmm," she replied, her lip curling into a smile. "Tempting, but it is not worth it," she replied. She glanced at the back door and looked at me. "Have they settled in?"
"Yes," I said, nodding my head. "They are settled in." I glanced at Benjamin to see him looking slightly pale and stiff. "Are you ok?" I asked, and my mate looked at her brother.
Benjamin nodded his head. "Yes, my dad wants me to go to him. He is mad about Mor- Mom and my other siblings."
"You aren't going," Bethany Ann said. "Come." She started to walk into the house with Benjamin following her.
I followed them in and shut the door behind us. 'What are you doing?' I asked, watching as she grabbed a bowl and filled it with water.
'Jessica taught me how to do an emergency pack change,' she replied. She gathered other supplies and laid them out on the counter beside the bowl. 'It is only allowed for abused or at risk pack members.'
I raised an eyebrow, staying silent. I had no idea what that meant, never seeing anything like that before.
'She pawned an exclusive law book off of a council member. She gave a version to me because... I don't know why. I never asked.'
'She pawned it off of a council member,' I repeated.
'Well, she won a bet between them. Like I said, I don't know. She didn't offer an explanation as to how she got, and I didn't ask.'
'Is it real?'
Bethany Ann paused in whatever she was doing and gave me a stink eye. Annoyance flickered through her eyes, and I couldn't help but cringe backward some. 'This is Jessica we are talking about. She'd be able to tell if a person was fake just by looking at them.'
'So, your opinion has changed? I know you were wary of her in the beginning.'
She nodded. "Can you get Moria and my other siblings?" she asked out loud. "I think it'd be best if I do them, too."
"Do what?" Benjamin asked. "What is all of that for?"
"I am going to set up an emergency pack change for you and your family. Vincent is not going to let up, and I am sure that he is going to beat the shit out of you if you go there."
Benjamin frowned and furrowed his brows. "But... my rank?"
"You will still be Alpha," she replied. "Technically, the pack does belong to me because I am first born and born from his true mate." She held her hand, and Benjamin closed his mouth. "However, if you impress me with your training to be Alpha, and you want to be Alpha of that pack, then you can."
"So, you are going to train me as Alpha?" Benjamin asked, and she nodded. "What makes you better than my father?"
She looked up and smirked. Her eyes held this unknown light in them, and I could see that she would have been a great Alpha if she had the chance. Hell, she did make a good Luna, but she might have been a better Alpha. "Morals," she replied. "I have morals, and he has none."
