The Call
Amy POV
You know, I really, really, really hate Halloween.
Who even celebrates this stupid holiday anyways? Who even came up with it?
I groan as Shawn tries to for the billionth time this last minute to scare me.
"BOO!" He screams in my ear. I turn to Caleb, a pleading look on my face.
"Please Caleb, control that cousin of yours, I don't think I can last any long any longer before lashing out on him!" Don't look at me like that, I never had lunch that's to Mr. Idiot who tried to interrogate me.
Caleb smiles, I find my legs turning to jelly as those bright blue eyes pierce through mine. God those dimples, they can make any woman fall to their mercy.
"Shawn, calm down, you can't scare her, it's impossible."
Shawn groans. "Everyone is afraid of something, I promise you that I will scare by midnight!" He says it as though he's proclaiming his undying love instead of someone who wants to scare you.
I roll my eyes at his antics. "Use that voice when you proclaim your love for Riley."
Shawn smiles at the mention of her name. Riley is someone who you could go to when you needed something, needed to tell someone something without them judging you, needed someone to keep a secret, or you just wanted a cookie.
She was always the calm one in our group, a true leader. Everyone loved her, she was warm, kind, welcoming, and could bake delicious pastries.
"SHAWN!" We all look up at the sound of Alex's voice.
"Yes?" Shawn asks. Alex eyes me and Emily, specifically me, but turns around to Shawn and whispers something.
Shawn's face grows darker, you can tell he disagrees with whatever it is that Alex is saying.
He whispers something harshly back at Alex, both of them eyeing me.
Shawn nods his head and Alex walks away. I have no idea what just went down, but I know it had something to do with me.
Ring!
We all walk off to class, making sure to first exchange numbers.
I groan knowing I have gym now. With, unfortunately, Alexander.
-------
"Alright class, you are to run 5 laps around the football field and then grab a partner, a football, and practice throwing!"
I groan. I hate the football unit, not because I'm not good at it, but because I always get left with the weak nerds who don't know how to throw.
I start at a jog, keeping a steady pace for my first lap, gradually increasing my speed as I move into a new lap.
By the third lap the jocks who used up all their speed are slowly but surely falling behind.
By the fourth lap, I'm in the top five. Alexander taking first, following with Shawn, Liam and Caleb. I'm obviously the fastest girl here. Behind me is Luke and Xavier, Bree's twin.
Halfway through the fourth lap, I pass Caleb and Liam. Shawn and Alexander are left.
Entering the fifth lap, I'm full on sprinting. My breathing coming out in even pants.
I pass Shawn who looks at me in surprise, I was never very athletic in Middle School.
Soon though, I'm running side by side with Alexander. He spares me a glance before looking ahead and trying to increase his speed, I do the same.
Inch by inch, breath by breath, I slowly move on ahead of him.
A couple more steps, I'm done. I slowly come to a stop. I don't collapse on the floor, that's bad for you. I instead focus on calming down my breathing before taking a drink of water and walking over to Mrs. Pack. She smiles and congratulates me on being first once again.
She can be nice when she wants to be, but you never want to get on her bad side.
I smirk at the rest of my class who most have not started their third lap, but I'm finished with the fifth one.
"Hey, when did you get so fast?" I smile at Shawn.
"After you left, I started focusing on my health some more." That's partially true, I needed to be fit in order to be a street fighter.
He nods, seemingly convinced.
A strong grip is on my hands, I turn around, ready to punch whomever it is, but then I notice it's Caleb. I smile at him. He smiles back. Damn those dimples, they really have me under their spell.
"Want to be football partners when the slow pokes finish?" I nod my head yes. Who would give up this chance to reconnect with their last crush?
------
I open my locker and put my clothes in. School's over, I want to get home before the immature idiots try to scare me or my siblings.
As I'm about to shut my locker, it slams shut on it's own.
"What the F-" I get cut off by someone's hand on my mouth, preventing any noise to come out.
Once again, for the second and hopefully last time today, I'm slammed into a wall. When will this idiot ever give up?
"Wha so do vant?" My voice comes out muffled thanks to his hand.
I try and push his chest, put he removes one hand from my mouth and takes both of my hands into his hand and pins them above my head. Oh, how I hate this position.
"Listen closely," He says in a husky voice, his breath hot against my uncovered skin. "I will no longer play the nice guy, if you don't answer my questions honestly, there will be consequences." He lightly traces his nose down my neck, breathing in my scent.
I suppress a shiver that wants to come through. "How do you know to use a gun?"
I mumble a response, he can't understand with his hand covering my mouth.
He glares at me but removes his hand. "I have a brother, he plays a lot of video games, there is almost no difference between a simulation and real life." Nope, not even close to the truth.
"Liar, Liar, pants on fire," He presses a soft kiss on the base of my neck, I have to bite my lip to keep an embarrassing noise from coming out. "What you did takes years of experience." He places another kiss under my ear. I can't help it this time, a groan escapes my lips. I feel him smirk against my skin, he knows the affect he has on me, he's using it to his advantage.
"Are you ready to tell me know?" He lightly sucks on my earlobe. I squirm, arching my back.
"I-I played a l-lot of laser ta-tag when I was a k-kid." I'm stuttering now, great.
"Hmm," He blows cool air on my earlobe. I can't concentrate, he's using this to his advantage. "How do you know all those self defense moves?"
I flip us around while he's talking, now I'm pinning him to the wall. "I took self defense classes when I was young." Not a lie, I actually did.
I lightly kiss his neck, he groans. I pull away and smirk at him. "Have a nice day." I turn around and leave him there.
I walk into the hallways, searching for Brenda, hoping to get a chance to talk with her before she leaves to Harley's house to get ready for the party.
I catch sight of a tall brunette girl walking with a short blond. I make my way over to them.
"Brenda!" She turns around and looks at me. "Ya?"
"Please try not to make that much noise when you come home and make sure you're home before 1."
She nods. "Alright, see you later I guess." I smile at her. I personally have never experienced a High School party, but I'm glad she can.
------
I stare at my screen, waiting for Riley to respond back to my text.
She said she was coming home, I don't know when though. It could be months before we see her again for all I know.
Suddenly, my phone starts blaring to the Google Hangouts ringtone. I quickly answer my phone, it's around 10 and I don't want my father to wake up.
'Hello?'
'Amy, is that you?'
I smile, I would recognize that voice anywhere.
'Hey Riles.'
She shrieks in my ear. 'It's been a long time since I heard your voice, how have you been?'
'I've been doing good, you?'
'Fine, fine, alright, I just wanted to let you know, that while I don't have an exact date for when I'm coming home, I will be home for Turkey Day.'
I smile at her name for Thanksgiving. When we were in 6th grade, Shawn and Riley started to call the holiday which is infamously known for the day you eat turkey on, Emily and I just caught on, and we've been calling Thanksgiving Turkey Day since then. Although, I personally hate turkey.
'Yay! I'm sure the others in the group will be exited to know!'
'Other's, I thought the only other one was Emily.'
Oops, I forgot to tell her that Shawn is back.
Doesn't matter, I'll let that be a surprise. 'Haha, sorry, that's what I meant, Emily, not others.'
'Alright,' She doesn't sound fully convinced. 'Anyways, I just wanted to let you know that no matter what happens when I show up, I had always loved you and considered you my sister.'
Okay, that was random. I open my mouth about to reply, when a beeping noise is heard, she hung up on me.
I groan and put my phone down. I plug into it's charger and then grab the book that's on my bedside table.
--------
I yawn. I've been reading for about two hours, wanting to wait up for Brenda. It's now 12:30 in the morning.
I put my book down, deciding to get some shut eye. I lean over and am about to shut off the lamp on my bedside table, when my phone starts vibrating. I set it on vibrate whenever I go to bed, to hope to dodge the beating that would surely occur if my father were to get awoken by the ringtone.
I squint through the darkness, trying to see who's name is on the screen.
'Unknown'
Huh, that's so random. I decide to pick it up though.
'Hello?'
A smooth lady's voice answers the phone. 'Hi, is this Amy Kuether?'
'Yes, who might this be?'
'Well, I'm calling from the BlackWoods Hospital. I'm sorry to inform you that Brenda Kuether has been in a terrible accident.'
Alexander's POV
I watch Amy run out of the room in a hurry.
I feel sad that I've upset her, but at the same time I need to worry about my gang. My gang will forever be my first priority.
I roll my wrist, pain is what I feel. I think she sprained my wrists. I walk out of the room and head to the nurse's office for some ice.
As I'm walking, I notice Amy, Emily, Shawn and his cousin Caleb standing in the hall.
Emily looks surprised. Amy is just staring at Caleb, a smitten look on her face. Jealousy shoots through my veins. What the fuck! Caleb is the opposite of his cousin, while Shawn is sweet, always waiting for the girl of his dreams that he fell in love with since 6th grade, Caleb is pretty much the same version of me, a playboy, a fuckboy, a player.
What the fuck did they even meet?!
I storm up to Shawn. "What the fudge dude!" Shawn doesn't like swearing so don't de it around him. "Why the hell are you around her?" I whisper to him sharply, ignoring the weird looks Emily and Amy are sending me.
"What do you mean?" This guy's clueless.
"How do you and Caleb know Emily and Amy?"
He rolls his eyes at me. "If you ever payed attention to me, you would know that they are the missing two some."
Oh, that makes sense, that's all he ever talked about, reuniting with his long lost childhood friends.
"Keep Caleb on a leash will you? He hurts any of them, he'll get a bullet through his head, family or not."
He nods, I walk away, I have to get to gym, unfortunately.
------
"Alright class, today we will be running 5 laps around the football field!" Everyone groans. I start to with that I never left New York.
We all start jogging, I notice that all the jocks keep a steady pace slightly behind me while ahead are me, Shawn, Liam, Xavier, Caleb and Luke. Not in that same order though.
Around the 3rd lap, I notice some of the jocks slowly falling behind. I keep a steady pace until the fourth lap, I notice someone starting to catch up to me. I slightly speed up but not by much, I want to see who it is.
Soon, I know they have passed Shawn, his heavy steps and breathing are no longer behind me, instead I hear soft breathing and light footsteps.
I keep that steady pace, I really want to see who's behind me. Soon, we're running side by side.
I steal a small glance and notice it's Amy. She's looking straight ahead. She looks so cute with her sweaty hair stuck on her forehead, especially with those highlights. The sun is reflecting off of them, making her look like an angel.
I speed up, planning to outrun her, but she speeds up too. Soon, I'm full on sprinting. But so is she.
Against my better wishes, she soon moves ahead entering our fifth lap. I try and catch up with her, but she's too fast.
I fall behind, almost 5 yards behind her before she finishes. I follow soon after, then Shawn and Caleb.
I watch her steady her breathing before going for her water bottle that's lying on the floor. I also try and calm my breathing before turning to talk to the cousins, only, there's only one cousin here. Shawn.
I turn around and see Caleb talking with Amy. Jealousy sparks through my body. I hate this feeling so bad, but I can't help feel this when I see a male talking with her.
I her smile at something Caleb said. I clench my fists in anger, I want to be the one to make her smile, not that idiot.
Throughout the rest of the period, I watch as he throws the ball and she's able to catch and throw it back so elegantly, it makes me jealous of the way she throws it.
I ignore them and focus on throwing the football for the rest of the period.
------
I hand around outside the lady's locker room like some sort of stalker, waiting for Amy to come out. I still have unfinished business. I watch as the last girl walks out before walking in.
As she's about to shut her locker, I slam it shut on my own.
"What the F-" I cut her off by putting her hand on my mouth, preventing any noise to come out. I hate hearing her swear.
"Wha so do vant?" Her voice comes out muffled.
She tries to push on my chest, but I remove one hand from her mouth and take both of her hands into my own pinning them above her head. I love this position.
"Listen closely," I says in a husky voice, my breath fanning her exposed skin. "I will no longer play the nice guy, if you don't answer my questions honestly, there will be consequences." I can't help it, I lightly trace my nose down her neck, breathing in her scent. She smells like grapes.
"How do you know to use a gun?"
She mumbles against my hand, I glare in her as a warning not to scream, before removing my hand.
"I have a brother, he plays a lot of video games, there is almost no difference between a simulation and real life." She tries to pass off the lie. If I weren't a gang leader, I probably would have believed her. I don't unfortunately for her.
"Liar, Liar, pants on fire," I presses a soft kiss on the base of her neck. She even tastes like grapes. I want to taste the rest of her, not just her neck. "What you did takes years of experience." I places another kiss under her ear. Grapes. I can't get enough of this taste it's addicting. I hear a soft groan escape her. I smirk against her skin, I'm the one bringing her pleasure right now, not Caleb. "Are you ready to tell me know?" I lightly sucks on her earlobe. She arches her back in content. I'm so turned on right now.
"I-I played a l-lot of laser ta-tag when I was a k-kid." She's stuttering now, I like the effect I have on her.
"Hmm," I blow cool air onto her earlobe. "How do you know all those self defense moves?"
She flips us around while I'm talking, now she's pinning me to the wall. I take back my words from earlier, I love this position better. "I took self defense classes when I was young." I believe her.
She lightly kisses my neck, I groan. I feel sparks all over the damn place I love it. She pulls away and smirks at me. "Have a nice day." She turns around and leaves me standing there. Fuck, I need a cold shower.
OMG!! We are now #35 in action! I'm so happy!
Alright, so I have a question, if I were to participate in the Watty's, would you guys support me?
Anyways, it looks like Alex has some competition! ;)
Who do you guys think Amy should date, Alexander or Caleb? Who are you shipping?
Oh! You'll get a follow if you can come up with one ship name for either Alex or Caleb.
Till next time!
