CHAPTER THREE - THE SWAP: ONE

   Modern times

"Ugh Snowfall it's almost midnight do you seriously still have to go there" Angel whined.

"Of course I do, my birthday wouldn't be complete without it" replied Snowfall.

"But it's so late I doubt if it would even be open by  now" said Angel.

"Don't forget Angel my uncle runs the museum, of course I'll get entry into it" replied Snowfall.

"But are you sure it's a good idea after all it's dark and we are tired we could easily damage something" asked Angel worriedly.

"Angel I understand that you're tired and worried but I'm not going to back down now, tell you what, why don't you go back to our apartment and wait for me while I go to the museum after all you're my friend and it would be wrong of me to force you to do what you don't want to do and besides I'm old enough to take care of myself I don't need you to chaperone me so there's no need for you to worry yourself I'll be fine" explained Snowfall.

"Alright fine but be careful and be back home before 12:30am" said Angel finally agreeing.

"Yes I'll be careful mom" replied Snowfall jokingly.

          "Snow I'm serious" said Angel.

"alright, alright go I'm fine I'll see you later" urged Snowfall and with that Angel reluctantly went back to there apartment while Snowfall skipped away to the museum.

When Snowfall arrived at the museum, she saw her uncle Yan locking up the museum. "Uncle Yan" she screamed in delight as she saw her favorite uncle.

"Snowfall my dear child" said uncle Yan as he hugged he's favorite niece "you haven't changed a bit you look just like you were when you were seventeen".

"I know everyone keeps telling me that, mother said it's because I refused to grow up mentally that's why my physical outlook hasn't changed but I don't believe her" said Snowfall.

"(laughs) you've always had the mind and free spirit of a child, anyway wat are you doing here at this time my little snowflake" inquired uncle Yan.

"I came to see the museum of course".

Uncle Yan's face fell at her reply he always knew that Snowfall loved history but he couldn't risk letting her into the museum on her own because her curiosity always got the best of her.

"Snow you can't go today as you can see we've already close why don't you come back tomorrow" said uncle Yan.

"Please uncle Yan you know today is my birthday and that your my bestest uncle in the whole world please uncle I promise I'll return the keys and I won't touch or break anything please uncle Yan please" begged Snowfall as she made puppy dog eyes at her uncle.

"No Snowfall you can come back here tomorrow when the shop is open then I can keep an eye on you so go back home" said uncle Yan firmly.

"Okay uncle Yan I'll go" said Snowfall sadly.

"Good girl now good night" uncle Yan said as he walked back home.

When uncle Yan was out of sight, Snowfall smiled slyly and said as she raised up a bunch of keys "oh my dear uncle Yan you forget that your darling niece is a jack of all trades. I wouldn't have done this but you leave me to no other choice" and with that Snowfall unlocked the door and walked into the museum confidently.

       Ancient times

In the fuping Courtyard, Jiangxue rolled around restlessly in her bed if it could even be considered a bed. The wooden frame of the bed was old and loose, the sheets where thin and worn out and her blanket if it could even be called a blanket was so light it could barely protect her from the harsh weather. But either way the sleeping on the bed was still better than sleeping on the cold floor.

Jiangxue sat up in her bed and said to herself "I can't sleep tonight, it's better I go and pay my respects to mother". She stood up grabbed her coat and put on a pair of shoes and walked to the ancestral hall where all the tombs of the late family members are kept.

When she arrived at her mother's tomb, she koltered before it and started to speak to her mother "mother it has been seventeen years since you left me in this world to go to the after life. Today is my birthday as you know. It's supposed to be my happiest day but rather it's my saddest. Not only did die on this day but on this day Mingxiang and consort chen always make it my worst day of the year. I know that consort Yi is trying very hard to take care of me and protect me, she's treated like my own all this years and I'm really grateful to her. And Tang li and Ningjing treat me like I'm there sister born of the same mother, they never let me feel like I'm not there half sister. But I'm sad that they have to suffer because of me. Mingxiang treats me terribly just because you are no longer here to protect me. I know that she is older than me by a week but I'm still the eldest di daughter. Father never comes to visit me nor does he allow me to visit him or zumu. I'm sad and alone. I try not to complain because I know that consort Yi is doing her best to protect me and take care of me and I don't want to worry her after all she has own children to take care of too. Mother please if you can hear me help me and consort Yi and her children. Please deliver us of this hardship" and with that Jiangxue koltered some more times at her mother's tomb.

As she finished paying her respects to her mother, she saw an illuminating silhouette pass by her. She wondered out loud "what could that be, should I go and find out what it is, what if it's dangerous, what shall I do".

Jiangxue thought about it but eventually her curiosity got the best of her and she started to follow the silhouetted figure.
