          Ancient time

         The next few days passed by slowly and boringly for Snowfall. She wasn't allowed to go out, all she did was eat and sleep. She was almost certain that she'll die of boredom until the fifth day.

          One the fifth after her journey through time, Snowfall was sitting on her bed, staring outside the window as usual when suddenly someone busted into the room.

          "Jiangxue!" cried a girl of about thirteen to fourteen years. "Jiangxue I've missed you so much!!" She said as she pulled her into a tight hug.

          "Oh em...."

          "Oh yes, mother said something is wrong with your head so you can't remember anything. I'm Ningjing, your youngest sister and I have a twin brother called..."

          "Ningjing!!" Said the voice of a boy bursting into the room in the similar fashion as Ningjing.

          "Tang li." completed Ningjing in a sullen voice.

         
          "Ningjing, mother said we should leave jiejie to rest, what are you doing here" asked Tang li in an authoritative voice although he didn't look any older than Ningjing.

          "But I wanna see Jiangxue, I miss her" whined Ningjing.

 
         "Jiejie has been injured and needs her rest and mind you your not to call her by her name, she's your elder" said Tang li firmly.

         "Oh forget all those formalities I'm sure she doesn't mind and besides I miss her, I'm sure it must be so boring being here on her own all day long" said Ningjing.

          "Ningjing, go out now" said Tang li firmly.

         "Hey you can't tell me what to do, and don't use that tone on me young man just because you were born a few minutes before me doesn't make you any older than you" retorted Ningjing.

          "Why you little...."

         "Hey enough, enough no fights" interrupted Snowfall who had been watching in amusement up until now.

         "We're sorry jiejie we'll leave you to rest" said Tang li trying to drag Ningjing with him.

          "Hey there's no need to..." Snowfall was interrupted by the door opening for the third time that day.

            "Tang li, Ningjing look at all the ruckus your making the whole manor can hear you and what are you doing in Jiangxue's room" complained consort Yi.

            "Mother we..."began Tang li but was cut off by Ningjing who quickly said "Mother Tang li was disturbing me and jiejie"

          "No I wasn't! You were the one interrupting jiejie's rest" retorted Tang li.

          Then they returned back to arguing again.

          "Enough both of you!!" Screamed consort Yi, silencing the arguing twins. "Both of you should leave Jiangxue's room now".

          "No wait" Snowfall called out quickly. All eyes turned to her as if finally noticing her presence in the room.

         "I want to go out of too. It's boring here and the room is getting stuffy. Can I go out for some fresh air, please mother, please" begged Snowfall.

         "But your health..." Consort Yi began.

          "I'll be fine mother" said Snowfall.

         "But what if you catch a cold or worse" said consort Yi worriedly.

         "I'll wear something warm mother no need to worry about me besides Ningjing and Bai Jun will be with me, right Ningjing" asked Snowfall.

          "Yes jiejie" Ningjing quickly replied.

           "See mother, I'll be fine" said Snowfall looking up at consort Yi hopefully.

          Consort Yi was about to refuse but when she saw the hope and eagerness in her daughter's eyes, she couldn't help but agree "oh alright but make sure you don't wake too far and stay away from trouble and when you start feeling week come back to your room Immediately".

           "Yes mother, thank you" Snowfall replied happily going to hug consort Yi.

           "Alright go and get dressed, Ningjing, Bai Jun go and get Jiangxue her warmest dress and coat" consort Yi instructed.

         "Yes mother" said Ningjing quickly going to fetch the dresses, not before sticking her tongue out at Tang li.

         After being rapped in layers of clothing which Snowfall felt was unnecessary, she was finally allowed out of the room with Ningjing and Bai Jun accompanying her.

        When they reached the entrance to the courtyard, Snowfall looked up at the name of the courtyard in distaste. "Why is the courtyard named fuping it's such an insignificant flower".

          "Consort chen is the one who names all the courtyards" replied Ningjing also looking at the name unpleasantly.

         "Hmm consort chen really knows how to play her cards, but unfortunately she doesn't know who the real queen of cards is" said Snowfall more to herself.

          As they walked onwards, two expensively dressed girls walking towards them, one more lavish than the other.

         Ningjing and Bai Jun hurriedly curtsied greeting "greetings first jiejie and fourth jiejie" and "greetings first miss and fourth miss" respectively.

         They both smiled smugly. Then the less lavishly dressed girl's eyes narrowed on Snowfall. "Don't you know how to greet" she asked her voice filled with pride.

         "Really I didn't know that the eldest di daughter was supposed to greet anyone other than her father and her father's consorts, then of course her elder sisters and brothers if she has any" replied Snowfall nonchalantly.

         The more lavishly dressed girl's eyes flashed with fury before calming down with a devilish glint. "Molan no need to be surprised have you forgotten that mother said there's something wrong with Jiangxue's head so she can't remember anything" said Mingxiang giggling deviously.

           "Ah yes I remember" said Molan with devilish intent written all over her face "Jiangxue, we are your elder sisters Mingxiang jiejie and me Molan".

          "Ah so you are my jiejie, lady Mingxiang. My apologies, greetings jiejie. But I recall being told that I have one elder sister who is a 'shu' daughter only and that the rest of my sisters are younger than me. Which means that you Molan are my younger 'shu' sister I'm I correct" said Snowfall making sure to emphasize the differences between them.

           Mingxiang's eyes flashed with anger and her cheeks had began to turn a slight pink colour but she kept her lips sealed. Molan on the other hand was boiling with rage. Her cheeks had turned a deep red colour with anger and embarrassment. She wasn't expecting that Snowfall to insult a would be so bold as to insult her.

         "How dare you insult me" accused Molan angrily.

         "I didn't insult you, I just mainly stated the facts" said Snowfall.

          "You...you.." stuttered Molan in fury.

          "And come to think of it" continued Snowfall "you didn't greet me and from the greetings that Ningjing and Bai addressed you with you are at least a year or two younger than me".

         "You ... I..."

         "So doesn't that mean you have just committed an offence and also you liked to me which is also another offence, I'm I to punish, and if so how many floggings should you get" Snowfall said pretending to be in thought.

           Ningjing and Bai Jun were practically shaking as they tried to contain there laughter. Molan was flustered, she was almost purple with rage and embarrassment. She was still thinking of what to say when Mingxiang said with a frown "greet your elder sister Molan".

         "But jiejie" said Molan.

         "I said greet" said Mingxiang firmly, staring her down darkly.

         "Greetings second jiejie" said Molan reluctantly.

         Snowfall smiled slightly "it's nice to meet you Molan. As much as I would like to stay and 'chat' I have more important things to do, it was nice meeting you by the way" said Snowfall as she walked away Ningjing and Bai Jun following tho.

         Once Snowfall was out of sight Molan screamed and stumped. "How dare she! Where did she even get such nerve!! Jiejie why didn't you say anything?!" questioned Molan angrily.

         "Hush!!" Mingxiang scolded quietly yet firmly "I was also surprised by her nerve. But no need to worry let her enjoy her new found pride, mother and I will deal with her soon" Mingxiang smiled wickedly. On seeing her elder sister's smile, Molan felt reassured and also smiled. She wanted to be just like her sister. Outside Mingxiang was known for intelligence, skillfulness and elegance. But deep within she had a cunning conniving nature.

          Once Ningjing and Bai Jun were out of Mingxiang and Molan's hearing, they bursted out laughing. "Jiangxue how did you do that she was even more red than an overripe tomato" asked Ningjing, once again discarded the formalities.

         Snowfall merely smiled "It's quite simple actually, she's proud and conceited even though she has nothing much to be proud about and her temper is short and she's not as clever as she thinks she is, it's easy to fluster such people".

         "Wow Jiangxue you've really changed, usually you would cower away when you saw Mingxiang coming but today you stood up to her. I'm happy about that. I've always loved you but I love the new you better" said Ningjing smiling brightly at Snowfall. Snowfall smiled fondly at Ningjing and pulled the girl into a hug and whispered to her "you'll always have me".
