31st of December, 2017.

Beijing, China.

Snowfall and Angel where on there seats waiting for there turn to perform. While Angel was nervously knotting her fingers, Snowfall was busy with her phone. Angel turned to Snowfall and said "give me the mirror". Snowfall sighed exaggeratedly and began searching her sleeves for the mirror. She finally pulled it out and handed over to Angel, who began checking her make-up.

Snowfall studied Angel's face for a while before commenting "aren't you putting on too much mascara".

"That's the idea" Angel replied smiling slyly.

"I'm not even gonna ask" Snowfall said turning back to her phone.

Angel shook her head then asked "how can you be so calm in a situation like this, aren't you worried that we'll lose?"

"Our performance is amazing, we can't lose" Snowfall said without looking up from her phone.

"How do you say that so comfortably, have you even seen what's going on on the screen?" Angel questioned pointing at the big screen television opposite them.

Snowfall finally raised her head to look at the screen. It was two contestants cosplaying Naruto and Sasuke from the anime series Naruto Shippuden. They where performing stunts in an attempt to recreate there last fight with the use of light reflecting gloves and clothing to try to copying the chakra flow, energy release and other Technics.

"It's quite nice" Snowfall started "but there movements are sloppy, and the lights can't reflect all there moves".

"What are you talking about they look perfect" Angel exclaimed panicking.

"Look Angel" Snowfall said placing her palm on the back of Angel's arm "I'm a martial artist, I know real and good skills when I see them, and this is fake and if you're dance is half as good as you practiced I assure you we'll definitely win okay. Now stop worrying yourself or you'll get wrinkles and have real white hair".

Angel sighed and breathed in and out then smiled. "Thanks Snowfall, I nearly lost it back there".

"Your welcome dear" Snowfall replied smiling.

"Hey but why didn't you talk about the quality of your zither playing and singing" Angel asked.

"First of all it's guqin not zither, secondly I don't have to rate my playing, I'm always perfect" she replied, grinning cockily.

"Urgh, Your such a jerk" Angel said shoving her as she giggled.

"Hey don't ruin my dress" Snowfall said in between laughs.

"Hey look there done" Angel said pointing at the TV.

"Yeah and looks like the next one is an outdoor performance" Snowfall commented.

"What do you think they could possibly be cosplaying?" Angel wondered.

"Well judging from the cars and costume it's either fast and furious or..." She was interrupted by the announcer.

"Introducing John and Jimmy Lui cosplaying fast and furious" the loud man's voice started. The rest of it was not heard as the two girls resumed talking.

"OMG! Fast and furious!! Now I know that we're definitely going to lose" Angel exclaimed sadly before slumming into her seat.

"Hey don't be sad, accidents happen" Snowfall said.

"Wait, why on Earth would you even say that, are you hoping for them to have an accident? Are you staging an accident?!" Angel asked suspiciously.

"What! of course not!" Snowfall replied. Angel only narrowed her eyes at her. "Look I'm serious, I only said that because of the condition of there car".

"What's wrong with there car" Angel questioned.

"Well from the looks of it, it's not built for speed. You see not all cars are built for high speed racing like that and this one is one of them. Also not everyone can drive cars at high speed most of them end up crashing" Snowfall exclaimed.

"Why can't all cars go under such speed"

"It's simple physics, there be too much air and contact friction, high petroleum use and high heat production. A car would at least need an extraordinary engine, perfect fuel supplying system, a good cooling system and durable tires to survive such speed not to mention the other things that I'm too lazy to explain" Snowfall stated. "And from the looks of that car it might just..."  She didn't finish as suddenly jumped up from her seat and block Angel's view of the television and covered her ears with her hands.

Soon a loud explosion was heard as fire trucks sirens filled the area. Snowfall finally released Angel's ears and stepped out of her view. Angel only had a glance at the commotion the TV before Snowfall turned her to face her.

"Hey look at me, not there" Snowfall instructed. Angel only nodded with a simper on her lips as tears sparkled in her eyes.

"Thanks Snow" she finally whispered after some minutes.

"Sure thing, now don't cry or you'll ruin your make-up. And I don't think the judges would appreciate us wasting time in the doing your make-up all over again" Snowfall comforted.

Angel let out a giggle. Just then one of the coordinators called onto them. "Angelica Li and Yanli Yin?" he asked.

"That's us" Angel replied.

"You're up next" he said before exiting.

"Well it's now or never" Angel muttered.

"You'll be great" Snowfall encouraged squeezing her arm as Angel smiled back.

At the stage

Among the judges were Chichi Chen, the celebrity dancer and organizer of the show; Michael Smith, a famous producer; Katy Yun, a singer and actress; and master Fei, a renounced martial artist.

All the judges were patiently seated as Snowfall and Angel entered the stage. Chichi's eyes pecked up as recognition hit her at the contestant before her. Wasn't it the Snowfall, popularly known as the Chinese gold princess. She had met her at a charity event where they had a little chat. She couldn't believe that she was here at her cosplay competition. Before she could say anything Snowfall's gaze caught hers. Snowfall gave her a small smile a little head shake signalling her to stay quiet as she quickly composed herself.

"Greetings judges I'm Angelica Li and my companion here is Yanli Yin" introduced Angel.

"Nice to meet you two, so can we know about you young ladies" Katy asked.

"Sure as I said earlier I'm Angelica Li, I'm a twenty three years old degree holder in fashion designing. I was born and raised in Tianjin for the first ten years of my life and moved to Shanghai after the death of my parents" a hug aww was heard from the crowd at the statement "I love designing traditional clothing and I'm hoping to open up a boutique for both mordern an traditional Chinese clothing if I can win this competition".

"Hi peeps, I'm Yanli, I'm twenty two, studied mining engineering. I grew up in Jiangsu and later moved to Shanghai with my parents where I met Angel and we became best friends. I have an addiction to chocolate and ice cream - well who doesn't, and I love playing the guqin, I also write songs once in a while" Snowfall explained.

"So what are you guys cosplaying" Chichi asked.

"We are cosplaying the last scene of the novel soulmates" angel answered.

A murmur erupted among the audience as the movie producer suddenly seemed to pick interest in what was going on. "And how do you plan on doing that, it's clear to everyone that the novel didn't have a movie, there were a lot of fanfictions here and there but never a movie" he asked.

"Well according to the novel, minglan was described as a flourishing beauty with porcelain white skin, dark black eyes, raven-black inky hair and a beautiful figure like my dear friend here" Angel said directly to Snowfall who only smiled "and Rulan was described as a pretty little girl with a petite figure, and a beauty that couldn't really be noticed at mere sight just as myself"

"What are you talking about, you look stunning" Michael exclaimed.

Angel blushed deeply and said "thank you Mr Smith, as I was saying, in the last chapter of soulmates it was said that Rulan was informed about the death of her beloved but refused to believe it. She would dance he's favorite dance everyday expecting he's arrival. Minglan, now consort Jia(beauty) was unable to pull her friend out of her trance and decided to join her by play the zither for her everyday. Rulan's hair slowly grew white as time went on while Minglan maintained her black tresses. One day both friends dropped dead. Rulan was never able to marry her beloved but was accompanied to the after life by her Minglan, her eternal soulmate.

"After the release of the novel, a song and dance was released by the author and was claimed to be the dance General Fu's favorite song and Rulan's dance. So I thought about presenting the dance here as my cosplay presentation but Yanli said..."

"It would be boring to watch a sad girl dance" Snowfall completed.

"So she came up with the idea of us recreating an extra scene for the story" Angel said and paused hoping to create an air of suspense in which she achieved.

"And how is this extra scene going to be like" Chichi questioned with a smile playing on her face.

"Minglan and Rulan are going to be reincarnated..."

"As evil spirits"

"Who haunt the killers of her husband..."

"And other people who have caused harm to the girls"

"And whenever Minglan's guqin is heard..."

"Then it means Rulan is about to strike" both girls said animated as they interrupted each other in speaking.

"Ok so how are you going to do all that in a dance" Katy wondered.

Both girls turned to each other and smirked and said "you'll see".

"Alright then, show us" Michael said impatiently.

Both girls took there places. Snowfall began to strum her guqin in a slow and sullen tune expressing sadness, as she sang in a low voice while Angel danced the tune of the music making her movements slow and deliberate. But as she danced, anytime her hands where over her head, she secretly loosen her hairpins. When Snowfall came to the first conclusion of the song tears had began to fall from Angel's ears as she fell to floor covering her face with the sleeves of her dress.

Then Snowfall suddenly started to strum the instrument in a higher pitch with a lot of intensity as the song became almost war like. Angel sprang from the floor twirling around as her hairpins and headdress fell of her hair letting it loose as the white locks floated down below her hips. But now her tears had mixed with her mascara send black lines across her face almost as if she was scratched with claws of a beast. She broke the fake blood that she had secretly slipped into her mouth and red dripped over her lower lip and chin. She movements became fast and fierce as her dancing interpreted war and death and her red dress looked like blood in the air. The crowd was struck silent at the sudden change in the dance.

Finally the dance came to an end. The crowd bursted into a crys and cheers as people applauded there performance. Both ladies walked together towards the judges and bowed.

"Wow that was amazing, when you two first said you where going to interpret a demonic rebirth scene I didn't know how two beautiful young ladies like yourselves could make themselves look or sound demonic in a simple dance, but now upon seeing this I'm just wow, I don't even know what to say, I'm truly amazed well done you two you've been amazing, I don't think I would have done it better myself and your dancing was exceptional Angel" Chichi exclaimed happily.

"Thank you Miss Chen" both replied simultaneously.

"As a movie producer it's my job to envision how a script is going to play out but in this case I had absolutely no idea that you girls would have been able to display your idea in such a beautiful and unique way, you have really open my eyes to new possibilities of expressing a beautiful work of art without acting, good job you girls" Michael commended as both girls thanked him again.

"Wow I love the performance young ladies and how you Angel were able use your make-up to your advantage and Snowfall your voice is amazing I think I'm beginning to get jealous myself" Katy enthused.

"No need ma'am, I won't be singing in public again as far as I'm concerned" Snowfall replied as Katy giggled.

"Well so far in this programme only two performances have managed to catch my attention and you two are one of them, as you must have all noticed I'm a very boring person and I'm not a fan of cosplay or music but this performance has made a difference in my perception of music and dancing" Master Wei said finally speaking out through out the whole programme.

"Thank you sir we are happy to make an impression" Angel said grinning widely.

"Thank you very much girls, you've been amazing, hopefully we'll see you after this short break" Chichi said, signalling that there time was up. The audience applauded them as they exited the stage. An attendant had gathered Angel's jewelry and returned it to her.

Once they were in there dressing room, Angel screamed with joy and hugged Snowfall. "Oh Snowfall did you see that, that loved us! Oh I'm so happy I could explode"

"Yeah it's nice to finally be recognized for something other than my entitlement" Snowfall said grinning "I'm actually much more happier than I thought I would be".

"So I'm I" Angel said then turned to Snowfall "wait what was that eye signal that you and Chichi Chen passed to each other, do you guys know each other?".

"Oh so you saw that, well yeah we kinda do" Snowfall replied scratching the back of her head and grinning nervously.

"And you didn't think to tell me" Angel remarked angrily.

"Hey I have a very good reason for that, if I had told you, you wouldn't have participated cuz you'll conclude that I talked her into making us win even though I've already promised not to use any external help. And besides we aren't even that close we only met at a charity event where we talked for a while, she's a really nice person" Snowfall explained.

"I am?" a voice said opening the door. It was Chichi Chen.

"Chichi! It's nice to see you again" Snowfall exclaimed going to hug her.

"Same here Snow, I was surprised to see the heiress of the  Wang family at my cosplay competition, but turns out you were here for something else, or rather someone else" Chichi said.

"Yeah I'm actually here with my best friend, Chichi meet my bestie Angel, Angel Chichi" Snowfall introduced.

"It's nice to meet you Miss Chen" Angel said shyly extending her hand for a handshake.

"Oh call me Chichi dearie" Chichi said hugging her instead "so you are Angel, Snowfall talks a great deal about you, turns out you're as amazing as she said".

Angel smiled and blushed. "And as shy too" Chichi examined "your dance was amazing, I was really impressed, think I could come over and exchange dance moves with you sometime?" 

"Sure I'll be delighted to" Angel said grinning.

"Alright then, can I have your phone number so I can contact you" Chichi asked

"Sure" Angel replied pulling out her phone as both of them exchanged contacts then Chichi bid them farewell.

"Wow, I just exchanged phone number with celebrity dancer Chichi Chen" Angel said in amazement.

"Hey you spend almost everyday with a gold mine heiress and you don't behave half as excited" Snowfall said pouting and folding her arms.

"Oh grow up, besides no one can ever be as amazing as are you in my heart" Angel said making Snowfall smile in satisfaction.

Soon the break was over and it was time to announce the winner of the cosplay competition. All the contestants lined up waiting eagerly for the results.

"And the third place goes to the Lui brothers for there cosplay of fast and furious even though Jimmy's engine exploded and John's brakes failed nearly burning us all in flames" the MC  said.

Both boys came up with there bruised bodies and Jimmy with crutches. They gave there speeches, took there pictures and walked away.

"And the second place goes to William Hans and Natalie Philips for there cosplay of Naruto Uzamaki and Sasuke Uchiha from the Naruto Shippuden series, and I have to admit William that grin is unmistakable and Natalie you are really rocking that emotionless look" the MC commented. And while Williams grinned once more, Natalie only nodded with the same stoik expression. They gave there speech - or rather William gave there speech - and left the stage.

"And now the price for the first place goes to......
