Chapter Two

I stretch and groan. Today was one of my days off from work and so I was grateful to be able to sleep in. As I start to wake up, my mind wanders until it goes to the Maserati that I found yesterday. With that thought, my eyes widen and I grin. I shoot out of bed and get ready for the day, a smile wide on my face.

I exit my room and see Charlie, standing with a saddening face as Ron continues to say things about something. Charlie was holding the book and as I looked over her shoulder to see the book cover, I mentally groaned. Charlie just stares at Ron as he trails off. She sets the book down and goes back to her room. I sigh and look at Ron.

"Yeah, I don't think you helped much there, Ron", I murmur.

Ron grimaces before handing me my birthday present which was something similar to Charlie's.

"Yeah, okay... I think you should get to know us a bit better before getting us gifts, Ron", I mutter, staring at the book which said "Friends Are Important". I already know friends are important but no one wants to be friends with depressed teenagers who have no sense of self-worth.

I groan as mom hands me a new helmet, for my bike. I sigh before going to Charlie's room.

"Hey, Char", I say as I see her wandering her room like a lost puppy.

"Hey, Em", Charlie replies.

"Why don't we see if Uncle Hank will let you have that Beetle?" I whisper.

Charlie's eyes light up before dimming. "Maybe he will let us have it."

"Let you have it", I quickly corrected. "There's a car there that I'm thinking of getting."

"Really?" Charlie asks.

"Yeah. It's a Maserati. I'll show you when we get there", I say with a smile.

Charlie copies my smile, though it was still a sad smile. "Let's go."

We soon arrived at Uncle Hank's garage and scrapyard where Charlie immediately went up to Uncle Hank and tried to make a deal with him. However, he listened to my advice from yesterday.

When he said that the car was Charlie's, her eyes lit up with much more happiness than I had seen in a long time. She immediately left the garage to go find the car and I thanked Uncle Hank before following Charlie.

"I asked him about it yesterday", I say as I go up to Charlie. "I knew that he was going to give you this car from the start."

Charlie's eyes looked into mine as she stopped working on the car.

"What?"

"Happy Birthday, Charlie. This is my gift to you. I asked Hank to give these cars to us yesterday for our birthday. That's why I wanted to come here today."

Charlie's eyes filled up with tears as she stood up and threw her arms around me.

"Where's that Maserati you were talking about earlier?" she asked, looking around. I smile and turn to where the Maserati sat. It still sat there proudly.

I smiled as I walked up to it. "He's a beauty, isn't he?"

"Sure is", Charlie agreed. "Could use a wash though."

"And that's what he's going to get as soon as we get home", I say softly as I hop inside the car, and start it. The engine began to purr almost immediately and I grinned. In all honesty, the engines purr almost reminded of jazz music. I smirked.

'I'm going to name in Jazz', I think to myself. 'Jazz the Maserati Merak.'

I smile softly before turning off the engine, and climbing out. "Need any help, Char?"

Charlie looks over to me from where she was working on the beetle.

"Nah, I'm good. I'll meet you at home, alright?"

"Alright. See you later, Char!"

Charlie smiles softly before getting back to work on the beetle. I smile as I climb back inside the Maserati and start the engine. I drive out of the scrapyard and as I drove past the garage, I rolled down the window and waved to Uncle Hank, who smiled softly at me.

I got home and turned off the engine, and hopped out of the car. A few hours later, Charlie came home. It was getting late. I knew ky parents had already gone to bed, but I wanted to hang out with my car just a little bit more.

However, when I heard strange sounds in the garage, I had to make sure Charlie was okay. I snuck in through the side doors, just as Mom opened the door to the house to see what was going on. Charlie was distracted by Mom, so she didn't see me. I saw with shock that her car was actually a giant robot that transformed into a car. I wondered if my car was the same.

Mom finally left Charlie alone and Charlie thought she imagined things, until the car transformed again. It was scared of her, or rather the wrench in her hand.

"Char, put the wrench away", I say softly.

Charlie looks in my direction, surprised to see me. The robot was surprised to see me too.

I turn towards the robot. "It's okay, I don't plan on hurting you."

"Neither of us do", Charlie adds as she puts the wrench away and puts her hands out. I smile, knowing she'll take good care of it, and leave, going back outside to my car. I wanted to know if he was also a robot.

I hop inside and frown, rubbing the steering wheel slightly to reveal a strange symbol.

"Your friend is alright, just so you know", I say softly.

"B-127 is alive?" the car speaks. I jump in surprise, as well as letting out a little yelp.

"Y-yeah. Can you... can you transform like he did?"

"I can", the deep voice says.

"What's... what's your name?" I ask softly.

"Jazz", he responds.

"Huh. So that's why your engine sounds like Jazz music", I mutter.

Jazz chuckles softly. "Do you mind climbing out, so that I may transform. It has been many years since I have been able to do so."

"O-oh! Sure! Although, you may want to transform in the garage so no one sees you. Many people react badly to strange things", I say.

"Very well", Jazz says.

I grin before hopping out, leaving the keys in the car because I saw no need for them. I opened the garage door, and allowed Jazz to come in, freaking out my sister and B-127.

"Emily... who's driving your car?" Charlie asks.

"No one. He's like your car, in that he's able to transform", I say.

Charlie stares at me as I close the garage as soon as Jazz is all the way in.

He transforms slowly, and I smile as I see the beautiful silver robot before me.

"Wow", I whisper. Jazz smiles down at me before looking at B-127.

"B-127, it's good to see you are alive", Jazz says.

"Who are you talking to?" Charlie interrupts.

"B-127. Your car", Jazz says, looking down at Charlie.

"His name is Bumblebee", Charlie retorts. Jazz smiles.

"Well, it's good to see he's alive either way", he responds.

Bumblebee looks at Jazz with a confused look in his eyes. I frown.

"Jazz, is it possible he lost his memory?" I ask quietly.

Jazz sighs. "Very possible. He was attacked severely when he first arrived here. Lost his voice in the process."

"Oh... I'm sorry Bumblebee", I say softly. Bumblebee looks at me, confused.

"He doesn't remember", Jazz says softly.

"It's understandable", I say, as I lean against Jazz's leg.

Jazz smiles down at me as I yawn.

"You should get some rest, young one", Jazz murmurs, nudging me towards the door into the house.

"Yeah, probably. Come on, Charlie", I say softly.

Charlie yawns and follows me into the house. "Night, Em", she murmurs as she goes into her room.

"Night, Char", I respond softly as I think about my new robot friends.
