INT. CRESTVIEW HALLWAY – LATER

Ariella meets Mae at their lockers.

ARIELLA

Check out my Doodle Kicks.

She props her foot on the locker displaying her dry erase sneakers decorated with colorful doodles.

ARIELLA (CONT'D)

It's a walking masterpiece.

MAE

Cool. But wait until you see what I made.

She pushes back her sleeve to reveal a horribly constructed chain and string bracelet.

ARIELLA

Whoa.

MAE

Do you like it?--No, don't tell me. I want to wait to see your review on the show. This is so exciting.

She hands Ariella the bracelet and exits.

ARIELLA

Oh boy.

Caleb enters carrying his fundraiser box.

CALEB

(off Ariella's face) Don't tell me you bought some already.

ARIELLA

Bought what?

Caleb tosses her a bag from his box.

CALEB

One bag of fruit and nuts saves an endangered wolf from extinction. That'll be five bucks.

Ariella hands over the money.

CALEB (CONT'D)

You might want to wash it down with something. They're pretty bitter.

He checks the ingredients.

CALEB (CONT'D)

I think this might actually be for the wolves.

ARIELLA

The wolves aren't the only ones who need rescuing. Mae just gave me this bracelet and she wants me to put it on the show.

CALEB

She asked for it.

ARIELLA

How am I supposed to give my honest opinion about this? She'll be crushed.

CALEB

You tell me how you really feel about my stuff all the time.

ARIELLA

You make weird choices on purpose. It's who you are.

CALEB

It's a gift. You can't avoid her forever. You're going to have to tell her the truth sooner or later.

He stops. Sniffs the air. He looks down the hall as another fundraiser participant makes their way toward a classmate.

CALEB

Got to go!

He races down the hall.

CALEB (CONT'D)

Spare the wolves.
