SCENE C

INT. CLASSROOM - LATER

Ariella, Mae and the rest of the class are doing their work when a member of Daphne's secret service enters.

SECRET SERVICE #1

Ariella Clark. You've been requested.

MAE

(whispering) What did you do?

ARIELLA

(whispering) I don't know. Pretend to be me, so you can find out for both of us.

The teacher points out Ariella. Ariella nervously gets up and follows the secret service student out of the class.

INT. HALLWAY - CONTINUOUS

Ariella and the secret service student enter the hall joining Danny and Caleb, who's half-dressed for PE. They continue down the hall.

ARIELLA

What's going on?

DANNY

Beats me. One second I'm carrying over decimals, and the next second I'm being carried over here.

CALEB

He could have at least let me finish changing first. I look ridiculous.

He self-consciously folds his arms. They stop at a closed door. The secret service student knocks three times. Ethan, another secret service member, answers.

ETHAN

State your names.

ARIELLA

Ethan, we went to preschool together. Do you really want me to bring up the overalls incident?

ETHAN

All clear.

INT. EMPTY CLASSROOM - CONTINUOUS

Ethan steps aside and lets them in. Daphne awaits them.

DAPHNE

Thank you for coming. I apologize for interrupting your studies, but this won't take long.

DANNY

Take all the time you need. Actually, could I borrow one of your guys for fifth period?

CALEB

Is this about the cookie? My vote is still completely undecided. Unless you have doughnuts.

DAPHNE

I can't offer you baked goods, however, I would like to offer you job opportunities. For three years, I have taken pride in representing this great school, and now there's a fifty-fifty chance it could all be taken away from me. That's why I've rallied you three to help me win this election.

ARIELLA

There must be some kind of mistake. We are probably the least qualified for this job.

DAPHNE

On the contrary. You are the most qualified for the job. Danny, you have the skills to make even the most useless products irresistible. And Caleb, I am one hundred percent confident that your ideas will be one of a kind. I would like you two to be my campaign managers.

DANNY

We'll take it. I've always wanted to be on the other end of advertisement. What do you think about this: A vote for Daphne will leave you acne free.

CALEB

Let's go work on it.

Caleb and Danny exit.

DAPHNE

Ariella, I have a very special assignment for you. This is a brand new term. While I intend to reinforce my core beliefs, I would also like to reinvent myself.

ARIELLA

Still not following.

DAPHNE

I want you to give me a makeover.

Ariella is ready to burst with excitement but composes herself.

ARIELLA

Daphne, you don't have to change yourself. You are perfect just the way you are.

DAPHNE

We start tomorrow then?

ARIELLA

This will only take a second.

She pulls out her measuring tape and takes Daphne's measurements.
