EXT. SWIRLY GO ROUND – LATER

Caleb and Mae stand a few feet away from the truck.

CALEB

I'm going to march right up to Marvin and demand that he change everything back to the way it was. Before he painted his dirty, green fingerprints all over it.

MAE

You might want to do it now.

A group of customers dump their ice cream in the trash and walk away.

Caleb enters the truck where Marvin is on the phone.

MARVIN

The Swirly has never been better. Caleb is a model employee. Just like you said. He has been nothing but supportive the entire time.

He mutes the phone and turns to Caleb.

MARVIN (CONT'D)

It's Lance.

Caleb bites his tongue and walks back out. Marvin unmutes the phone.

MARVIN (CONT'D)

Caleb says hi.

Caleb walks back over to Mae.

Mae

Did you tell him off? More importantly, is it safe to eat here again?

CALEB

I thought it would be more effective to write an outraged, anonymous letter.

MAE

You chickened out.

CALEB

If I stood up to Marvin, he would have reported back to Lance that I'm a bad employee. I don't want Lance to think I'm causing his brother trouble. This is a family business. If he had to choose between me or Marvin, I'd lose my job. Once he comes back, I'm sure the Swirly will go back to normal.

MAE

If he has a Swirly to come back to. Look around. No one likes the new menu. If you continue to serve that stuff, the Swirly may never see another customer again. You really want to be a good employee? Save your boss's business.

CALEB

How?

MAE

We're going to see if Marvin likes the taste of his own nasty medicine.
