SCENE E

INT. SCHOOL GYM – LATER

Caleb stands near the entrance searching the crowd. Mrs. Shannon walks over with an envelope.

MRS. SHANNON

I have your first clue to finding your mysterious admirer. My husband hasn't done anything this romantic for me since our first date. Would it hurt to get a girl chocolates once in a while?

CALEB

'Kay...

He takes the envelope and awkwardly steps away.

CALEB (CONT'D

(reading "It takes one who's fierce to capture the gold. The next clue is with someone bloodthirsty and cold." Vampires!

He scans the room. It's full of vampires.

CALEB (CONT'D)

This could take a while.

He sets off on his quest.

Torin poses near a table holding the costume contest voting box. Danny comes over. Offers his hand.

DANNY

May I have this dance?

TORIN

Sorry, but I'm not moving from this spot. I want everyone to see my costume.

Mae enters wearing the same costume.

DANNY

Don't think that's going to be a problem.

Torin is furious. She pushes people out of her way as she walks over to Mae, who is surprised by Torin's costume.

MAE

This is the scariest thing I've seen all night.

TORIN

Change it. Right now.

MAE

I can't. My wand doesn't work.

Torin glares at her. She stomps away.

Caleb's talking with a confused vampire when Torin comes over and drags him out into:

INT. HALLWAY – CONTINUOUS

Torin leads Caleb to his locker. Caleb pulls away from her.

CALEB

What are you doing? I'm in the middle of my quest for love.

TORIN

You've waited this long. Another five minutes won't hurt you. I need you to redesign my costume.

CALEB

Why?

TORIN

Just do it!

Caleb sourly opens his locker and gets to work.

INT. HALLWAY – MOMENTS LATER

Caleb holds up a mirror for Torin. Now she's a zombie fairy.

TORIN

I look hideous. Perfect.

She struts back into the gym.
