INT. COSTUME SHOP – LATER

Torin and Caleb search through the costume racks.

CALEB

Why didn't you just let me create your costume?

TORIN

Take a look in the mirror.

Caleb looks into the mirror beside him. He likes what he sees.

TORN (CONT'D)

That's why.

Nearby, Caleb finds a jungle explorer costume on display.

CALEB

This is the costume my mysterious admirer wanted me to wear.

He takes one and holds it up to himself.

CALEB (CONT'D)

It's kind of dull.

TORIN

Opportunities like this are rare for you. Take it and run.

She finds a beautiful fairy costume and snatches it up.

TORIN (CONT'D)

This is perfect.

She takes the last one and buries it under a pile of bargain costumes.

CALEB

What are you doing?

TORIN

Securing my win. Now let's get out of here before anyone gets any ideas.

She surveys the shop and keeps her costume out of sight as they head to the register.

Ariella and Mae enter.

ARIELLA

You shouldn't have waited until the last minute. Everything is picked over by now. Only the lame costumes are left.

She picks up a horse head with a missing eye and puts it on.

ARIELLA

See.

MAE

I'm just going to have to get creative.

She puts on clown hair and a kitty mask. She poses.

Torin and Caleb walk over with their bags.

TORIN

Oh, look. It's the wild, wild rejects. Looks like my competition won't be so tough after all.

Ariella and Mae take off their masks.

ARIELLA

For your information, I designed my own costume. I wanted it to be original.

CALEB

You don't have to rub it in.

Torin takes a step closer to Ariella, game face on.

TORIN

I hope you know this means war.

She and Caleb exit.

Mae searches through the pile of bargain costumes. She gasps.

MAE

I found something.

She shows Ariella the fairy costume Torin hid.

ARIELLA

Now that's Best Costume material.

MAE

I can't wait to see Torin's face when she sees this.
