SCENE F

EXT. CAFETERIA PAVILLION – LATER

Caleb, Ariella, and Mae sit at a table. Ariella and Caleb share a tray of spaghetti and realize they're eating from two ends of the same noodle. They stare into each other's eyes until Mae breaks the noodle, splashing tomato sauce on Caleb's face.

CALEB

I'm going to go get some napkins. Don't go on without me.

ARIELLA

I won't.

Caleb exits and Ariella watches him walk away. She turns her head and finds Mae staring back, grossed out.

MAE

Don't take this the wrong way, but this is starting to look very convincing. Almost scary.

ARIELLA

Good. We have to make it look believable otherwise no one will buy it.

MAE

I don't see the point of going through all this just so you can go to some party.

ARIELLA

What party?

Mae is baffled.

ARIELLA (CONT'D)

(playing it off) See? Am I good or what?

Caleb returns with a slice of cake and two forks.

CALEB

I brought dessert.

Ariella glances at Mae, treading carefully.

ARIELLA

I can't I'm stuffed.

Caleb hovers the cake near Ariella's face.

CALEB

It's whipped cream.

Ariella turns to Mae.

ARIELLA

(pleading) It's my favorite.

She takes a fork and she and Caleb dig in. Mae awkwardly looks away.

In the pavilion courtyard, Danny holds Torin close as they rehearse lines.

DANNY

"Will you be my one true love?"

TORIN

"I couldn't fight it if I tried."

DANNY

"Then don't. Just breathe."

Torin yawns. Discouraged, Danny breaks character and lets her go.

TORIN

If you want to sweep the audience off their feet, you're going to have to sell the love. Despite the bad writing. Imagine I'm someone you really care about. An ex-girlfriend or something, but prettier.

DANNY

I have someone in mind.

Torin draws him in.

TORIN

Now look into my eyes like I'm the only blood-sucking girl your human heart beats for.

Danny is confused but plays along. He stares deeply into her eyes.

DANNY

"Then don't. Just breathe."

TORIN

Now kiss me.

DANNY

What?

TORIN

Just do it.

Danny kisses her. When he opens his eyes he has a soft look on his face.

TORIN

That is what you need to tap into.

DANNY

Where'd you learn that?

TORIN

Vampires of Hollywood.

DANNY

Don't you think that movie is a little over the top?

TORIN

Have you ever made over twenty-five million bucks on opening night?

DANNY

I've never actually been to an opening night.

TORIN

Then keep your mouth shut and study the pros. Meanwhile, I'm going to do some recon on Frenchy and discover his flaws. Nobody's that perfect except me.
