Snow cracked and shifted as booted feet pushed through mostly frozen snow with a thick slab of ice on top of it.

"Huh..."

They leaned down, staring into the shadows of a half rotted trees hollow.

"NIGHTY!" Dream shouted finding the body freaking out.

Nightmare was not amused when his twin called him for a dead body, Dream freaked out even more when it was found alive.

He was even more confused, when he realized said body looked like a babybones version of his sibling.

"What the...."

He hurt....

Everything hurt...

His body was breathing heavily due to the pain, and Fable wished the pain would just stop.

He was also cold.... so cold.

"He won't stop shivering..." a voice whined.

"What do you expect, its a freaking winter wonderland," a sarcastic grumpy voice responded.

"OH!! we can start a fire to warm him like the villagers use to do!" said the whiny voice, and wow.. they were way too cheerful.

"We... are not, starting a fire two feet from the Tree," came the grumpy voice sounding angry.

Well... for good reason, even Fable knew fire plus tree equalled badness.

"Um... take him to a shelter at the village?" came Mr Whine doubtfully.

"You mean the village that died to Plague, we are not taking a baby bones into a place where the bodies still lay in the streets."

Ewwww.....

Thankfully he fell fully asleep again.

The first thing Fable did when waking was shriek, most people would when someones face was a centimetre from your own. The face shrieked also, leaping back and stumbling into snow.

Fable stared.

The apparently passive Nightmare stared.

"I'm okay!" the Dream apparently the whine finally said.

"Only you Dream..." Nightmare sighed.

So... here was the story.

Nightmare never ate the apples, but a plague got the villagers instead.

The End.

Alright not quite the end, eternal winter seemed to have taken over Dreamtale and even the tree was starting to suffer. Both twins worried, as Fable was the first thing they'd seen alive in years. They could survive by the trees energy, animals and others could not.

"Since you look like a mini version of Dream, I though placing you in this sheltered area of roots of the tree may help you... specially since there is no food here," Nightmare admitted.

"Thank.. you?" Fable replied.

"Is this yours, I couldn't open it?" Dream asked waving a familiar book around like a spaz.

"My Book!" he cried happily, hugging it to his chest once he got it back.

"Glad your okay kid, and apparently the tree could semi feed you magic but you can't stay here the tree can't give out much magic and you'll starve soon enough," Nightmare said with a frown.

"Don't worry, I'm good," Fable chirped, Then with a thank you hugged the Nightmare.

"Me too!" Dream cried opening his arms for a hug.

Fable AU jumped instead, that Dream was creepy.

Nightmare laughed at his twins sulking.

The babybones quickly discovered this multiverse was very small, near death.

Also... why was every since AU remaining eternal winter.

He quickly began recording, hoping whatever place he ended next wouldn't be near deaths door.

It was when he found the local Blue that things became clear.

There had been a big battle, and the local God of Destruction Error had been thrown in the void.

Moments later, Inks trusted friend Dream pushed Ink into the void.

"But... I met Dream, he never left his AU?" Fable asked confused, the dying skeleton snarled.

"Its a lie, not that Nightmare knows the truth... Dream hurt Nightmare badly in that battle killing Nightmares doom and gloom boys. People celebrated, not caring Dream murdered them in cold blood. They were the good guys after all," Blue said the last part sarcastically.

"What happened next?" Fable asked quietly writing it in his book, the way the quills ink glowed as it recorded it told it was the truth.

"Dear old Dream like the control freak he was took over, of course everyone followed. He was Dream, what was not to trust. He helped get rid of nasty old Error and the soulless wonder Ink. They celebrated there new God," Blue scoffed.

"You didn't fall for it did you," Fable said simply.

"No... I was smart enough to realize Error was telling the truth about the balance, and those about still sensitive could feel the balance going off the rails..." Blue sighed, taking a deep breath "Then.. in the remains of the doodlesphere he discovered what he was looking for.

At this Fable paused "The doodlesphere still remained?"

"Yes, along with Error's string in the anti-void."

"Continue..." Fable said, if they hadn't realized that if Inks and Errors magic remaining meaning they survived there void trip he wasn't telling them.

"All this time he was looking for a way to reset Dreamtale, and yes he found it... he just had to use something he found in Inks old place that ripped it out of every other place in the multiverse," he said with a dark laugh.

"Oh.. stars... he destabilized the multiverse... its a freaking system freeze," Fable said aghast, and explained the eternal winters and what happened to the other AU's.

"Kid.. your an outsider right?" Blue asked weakly, he lay limply in his bed bones mostly grey.

"Outsider?" Fable asked, he knew what an outcode was but not an outsider.

"Not of this multiverse..." Blue coughed.

"Yeah..." he admitted.

"Get out of here, this place is doomed...."

"Yeah.. that's kind of obvious."

Fable was heading out, he had decided to leave early leaving only the reset Dreamtale not recorded.

He didn't like it, but the Dream sounded rather out of it.

He was in the icy remains of outertale, he'd just finished and this place was about to destroy itself as Outer Sans was about to kick the bucket.

"Hello.," a voice chirped, Fable spun surprised to see Dream there a smile on his face.

"Goodbye," he giggled, bringing something down.

Fable felt pain... then nothing.

He came to his head dizzy from pain, he groaned and shifted. Or rather tried to shift, he seemed to be chained down.

"Stupid Blue.."

Slowly golden eyed opening, wincing at the brightness of sun reflecting off snow.

"Couldn't keep there mouth shut..."

Oh.. oh no, it was the whiny Dream who apparently insane.

"Let me go," Fable whimpered, he really just wanted to leave and rest at Chronos as his skull healed.

"Oh... your awake," Dream sniffed waking over, glaring at him no wearing the ditsy personality as before.

"Why are you doing this," Fable asked tearfully.

"Your just a knock off Ink probably created in his stupidity, did you know he claimed both that awful glitch and himself were forced. Force... ha yeah right," Dream laughed.

Fable believed it.

"Wheres Nightmare?" he asked, he had to keep calm.. no panic like he really wanted to do.

"Of course you'd like the failure," Dream hissed.

"Fai...failure?" Fable stuttered in disbelief, while grumpy the passive Nightmare had been so kind.

"Oh I ate him after you left, he was just a copy provided by the reset. Not the first, but he will be the last here," Dream chortled, he felt sick to his stomach.

"You see, Nightmare.. the real Nightmare.. I only needed him for the apples he contained. He was a failure, he snapped due to the villagers you know. The tree only really needs one guardian after all, but he ate the apples before I could end the game.. naughty brat," Dream giggled.

"You ate your twin?" Fable was a bit stuck on that fact.

"Oh no, I still have his soul the apples are still bound to it you know. Even resets spawning Nightmares didn't let me have the apples under my control, there on the tree but they burn me if I try to touch them... but that's where you come in," Dream smirked.

"Please.. don't do this," Fable whimpered tearfully.

"That fear... ah a feast of emotions," Dream laughed, he reached into his item space and pulled out the soul of his twin. "Isn't it beautiful, I'm going to fuse it with your soul."

"No..." Fable cried and screamed, he tried to escape but couldn't.

"This multiverse is ending you know, but Dreamtale still holds me... so... once Nighty's soul is one with yours merging the apples with you also I'll consume your soul taking your body for my own... I'll be free. No one will expect a babybones to invade Multiverses after all, I can eat there apples too," he laughed.

Oh Stars... he should have listened to Chronos warnings more often.

"Oh Nighty, Nim thought they were so cute making two guardians... what a joke on them," Dream giggled holding his twins soul up, the apples on the tree vanishing like illusions as he did.

"Please.. don't do this," Fable begged crying.

"Oh don't cry, you'll leave my new face all wet," Dream chided.

"This will hurt, screaming is more then okay," Dream chirped, forcing Fables own soul out painfully.

Fable did scream.

It could have been days, minute.. years.. the pain was too much.

"Oh.... such lovely screams," Dream giggled as Fable lay there limply,

Fable breathed heavily, feeling sick.. so sick... there soul felt wrong wrong wrong.

"Nighty's soul settled so well, I can't wait for you to me me," Dream giggled, his gold eyes so large they filled his entire eye sockets.

Fable wished.. really wished he'd stayed with the traveller longer.

Suddenly Dream clutched his forehead and swayed.

"No no.. this is wrong..."

Then he became agitated.

"No No the Apples must be kept safe," he giggled "Safe with me forever and ever."

What.. the heck?

Did Dream have multiple personalities?

A sadistic smile lit Dreams face, and he pulled out his own soul and Fable wanted to gag. Dreams soul was so cracked it was close to dusting.

"Its all over, thank you for your sacrifice" Dream giggled, and began the process.

Fable began to scream again.

H was going to die, his body taken over by a Dream missing most of his marbled.

He didn't want to die.

Kid KID! Fight it! This is your soul!

"No... go away," Fable screamed out as his soul was invaded yet again by Dream.

He wanted to Live.

He wanted to see Traveller and the adult Time kid again.

He wanted to meet Karma.

He... he wanted to find his own family.

That's right kid, there taking it all away from you

Don't let the Brat win

Right, it was his soul and he didn't want Dream there. He couldn't remove the extra souls force merged with his own, but Dream Definitely didn't belong here.

"No...!" Dream screamed suddenly.

"Go Away! This is my body!" Fable screamed, slamming Dream with all his power and willpower.

Suddenly his back felt like it exploded.

Crap!

Then he was falling.

Hold on kid.

The AU collapsed as he fell.
