Chapter Twenty - Two

  The lights lit up the entire backyard, teenagers drank and danced. The house was full of couples making out, so most of his friends were outside. Natsu noticed the stares Lucy was receiving as she laughed with Juvia. Her eyes lighting up along with her smile that caught everyone's gaze. Natsu especially noticed how a certain, the skirt she wore wasn't really covering her up and he noticed the goosebumps on her arms. He felt like someone was staring and turned to see Gray handing his jacket to Juvia, an 'annoyed' look on his face - but Natsu noticed the small smile on his lips as he saw Juvia blushing. 

Natsu then turned to see Gajeel throwing an arm around Levy, the small girl blushing madly and stuttering as she said she wasn't cold at all. Can't those two get together already? Natsu had seen these types of scenes in the cheesy movies Wendy would make him watch with her. 

"It'll come in handy Natsu!" She would tell him constantly. Natsu slowly took off his varsity jacket and set it on Lucy's shoulders, she looked up, but he quickly rubbed his head and looked away. His face heating up feeling her gaze. 

man, why is he feeling weird?

Lisanna grinned at her sister seeing what Natsu had just done, his cheeks were red and so were Lucy's. Her fangirl sense tingling noticing this beautiful majestic scene playing before her eyes. She slowly scooted closer to Mira, Mira was also watching the scene. A huge smile on her face. The white-haired girl turned to face her, a slight nod and they realized what they had to do. 

"It's getting awfully late." Lisanna spoke up rubbing her eye for effect. Mira agreed, along with Levy who quickly caught on to the sisters. Mira got up and grabbed Laxus's hand, she whispered something in his ear and he blushed rapidly. Lisanna already understood and knew she would have to sleep over at Levy's house. 

"Oi Natsu, drive Lucy home. I'll drive Gajeel, Levy, and Lisanna back home." Laxus announced, Gray chimed in saying he would drive Juvia home. Erza was occupied with Jellal inside the house, but Lisanna knew Levy would message her to fill the scarlet-haired girl in. 

Natsu looked down at Lucy, who looked back at him. 

"Is that alright Luce?" He asked. She simply nodded with a small smile, Lucy was going to kill them tomorrow. As they walked away from the soon-to-be couple, she fist pumped the air internally. Her ship will sail, they just needed a slight nudge.

"Man those two need this shove." Gray sighed as he shoved his hands in his pocket, Juvia nodded her head in agreement. Mira winked at Lisanna, at this moment she knew they were all in the same boat. Now their ship will sail for sure.

Lucy followed Natsu through the crowd in the house, he guided her towards the front door. Lucy turned to see Estella looking at her from across the room, her blue eyes boring into her own. She simply nodded and turned around, the cold air hit her face, Natsu's jacket blocking her arms from the cold air. She never realized how warm it was until now, Natsu led her to a red Porsche. 

Natsu opened the door for her, once she was in he closed it. Lucy was slightly shocked to see such a gentleman-like demeanor, usually, he was a bit wild. The thought of him lifting his shirt just to prove a point came to mind and she blushed unable to look at him.

"You alright Luce?" He asked as he buckled up, the engine roaring to life. 

"Y-yeah, just thinking about that test we have tomorrow for health." She covered up, Natsu's eyes widened. Seems like it was the perfect cover-up.

"Shoot you're right! Man, I gotta study." Lucy simpled chuckled, then stopped realizing Natsu was looking at her. His onyx eyes meeting her eyes. He then looked away and put both hands on the wheel. "I gotta warn you Luce, Gray says I'm not a safe driver, so hold on." 

They arrived at her house quickly, Lucy's heart beating from the ride. Natsu laughed seeing how hard she was gripping the seat, he stepped out and opened her door for her. Lucy then realized that her father's car was missing, luckily so was the step-monster's car. He led her to the door and she turned to face him, she had to look up a bit since he was a bit taller. 

"Um, so I'll see you tomorrow." Lucy spoke up nervously, fidgeting with her ring. He simply nodded but leaned down to peck her cheek. With that he turned to run back to his car, leaving her speechless.

"Night Luce!" She blinked, recovering from her shock as she blushed rapidly. Waving at him as he drove away she leaned against the front door. 

What just happened?

Lucy woke up feeling different, her heart was still beating from yesterday. His jacket was folded on her desk, she stood up walking to her desk. Her hand tracing his last name sewn onto the jacket. 

"You're a mystery to me Natsu Dragneel." She smiled softly, her left finger gingerly touching her cheek. Her face getting warm remembering the scene from last night.
