Chapter Twenty

              Natsu walked into his house with Gray in tow, the raven-haired boy was currently on his phone texting a certain blue-haired girl. They were just heading back from the game, after hanging out and getting some pizza with the others they decided it was time to start heading home to get some sleep. Since it was Thursday, it was Gray's turn to sleep over at Natsu's house. Fridays were when Natsu slept over at Gray's house. 

"So flame brain how's Lucy?" Gray asked with a sly smile, Natsu looked at Gray and felt his stomach churn. He was probably hungry, so he walked towards the kitchen.

"She's ok, why?" He asked taking out the ham and cheese. Gray shrugged and simply took out the bread for Natsu. He grabbed a butter knife and passed it to the pink haired boy.

"No reason, do you like her?" He asked carefully knowing his pink haired friend was dense.

"Yeah, why wouldn't I?" Gray mentally facepalmed himself. He shook his head and watched Natsu fix himself a sandwich. He was about to answer back but decided not to.

"So who are you taking to the party?" Gray asked his pink haired idiot of a friend, honestly, sometimes he wanted to knock some sense into the guy. How much of an idiot could he be?

He knew the guy was clueless when it came to girls, yet how could he be as clueless to not notice how close he was getting to the blonde haired girl named Lucy. Even Juvia - another clueless one - noticed tension after the game.

"I thought we were going together? We always do." Natsu spoke up curiously looking at Gray, the raven-haired boy mentally facepalmed himself.

"I'm going with Juvia flame brain. I told you this for the past 3 weeks." He then got an idea. "Hey how about asking Lucy, I'm sure she'll need someone to go with." To hell with it, he needed to play matchmaker.

He was not going to grow up with a family and to have Natsu living in the basement with that damn cat of his.

"Ask Luce, but isn't that a girl conversation or something?" He asked curiously, he remembered how offended Lisannsa had gotten when Natsu asked her if she was on her period when she didn't want to get in the water. Then again these were two different situations. 

"No you idiot, you can ask her." He commented as they walked into the house, the two teenagers walked upstairs as Natsu took out his phone. Gray shook his head and took away the phone, they walked into Natsu's room and Gray set the phone down on the desk.

"Face to face idiot." 

"Well, how was I suppose to know dimwit?" Natsu replied back feeling stupid. He was clueless when it came to girls, especially since he just met Lucy a couple of days ago. Yet it felt like he's known her for a while, maybe it was normal getting close to new people.

           It was when Natsu felt something cold in his shirt when he realized it was morning, sitting up quickly he hit someone's head hard. He opened his eyes to see Wendy laughing loudly with Happy in her arms and Gray clutching his head. Natsu lifted his shirt letting the ice fall onto his covered lap, the solid-liquid was melting on the comforter. 

"Damn it Natsu, you're head is hard." Gray complained rubbing his forehead. Wendy quickly rushed out of the room dropping Happy, luckily the cat landed on the bed. She came back with a towel holding ice, she handed it to him with a gentle smile.

"Here you go Gray." Natsu had to hold back a gag, it was no secret that his little sister harbored a huge crush on his friend. His father didn't mind it since Gray was mature enough to handle it properly-

"It really hurts Wendy, I think your brother did it on purpose." Natus then felt his exposed arm sting, his sister really did have man hands. If only his dad were here to see this now, but whenever he wants him to see something he's never around. He only appears at Natsu's worst moments for some reason. 

"C'mon flame brain we have to get to school soon. You're going to ask Lucy remember?" He teased lightly winking at his friend. Natsu felt his cheeks warm up for no reason.

   Lucy arrived in class with minutes to spare, she sat down and rested her head on her desk not really caring about the papers being tossed over her head. She was far too tired to even care about anything, then someone slammed the door open. A pink haired boy walked in getting everyone's attention, the girls in the class swooned as he grinned brightly, Lucy simply noticed how nervous he looked. Did he have a presentation today?

"Lucy there you are." Gray grinned slyly, for some reason she did not like that evil look on his face. She sat up properly and narrowed her eyes at him suspiciously. 

"What are you up-"

"Luce!" Lucy noticed how close Natsu was to her face and leaned back in her chair, she felt the glares of the girls around her. If looks could kill she would be buried down 600 feet below. 

"Yes?" She asked nervously. Natsu cleared his throat and leaned back too, Gray simply watched them with an amused look. "What is it Natsu?" She asked curiously.

"Will- are you- can you-" He looked at Gray who beckoned for him to continue on. "Will you go to the party with me today?" He asked. Lucy then heard a girl scream in delight, she turned around to see Lisanna holding Levy's arm in a death grip. 

"As friends of course." Natsu finished with a grin. Lisanna stopped and walked up to Natsu slapping his head causing the boy to back up in fear.
