➳ Chapter 6

(If you're not already familiar with my work, my chapters are usually quite graphic. So a little warning for if you're not into that kind of thing)
___________

Everyone scrambled to their feet and sprinted as fast as they could in the direction of the alleyway. Choa being the fastest, led the group towards the two homes that walls created the alley.

She skidded to a halt as more Savages came running towards them from the other direction. She judged the distance and knew she wouldn't reach the alley before they got there. Looking around for anything or anywhere to run to, she started to panic.

As the running armoured men approached her, she quickly darted in the opposite direction and headed further into the camp. Everyone saw the Savages by the alley and reluctantly followed the speeding girl down the paved streets.

Minho and Minah were at the back of the running group and were keeping the Savages from getting near the others running.

One of the Savages caught up a little and got a little too close to Minho for his liking. He quickly reached for the machete attached to his hip and lashed out at the armoured man. Cutting some of his chest, the man slowed down considerably. The other Savages saw as one of their own fell to the floor clutching at his chest piece that was stained with blood. They slowed down a little and looked shocked that people were retaliating in such a violent way. Nothing like this has happened since the first year of the F.E.A.R takeover.

Choa ran quite a distance ahead of everyone else and scouted for an escape route. Her eyes darted around frantically and panic started to set in as she saw more Savages running after them from another part of the camp.

She reached the centre of the camp which was a wide, open, and surprisingly clean area. She stopped for a second to get a good look as everyone caught up to her.

Her eyes landed on a tall wooden spotting tower by the edge of the camp. An idea sprung to her mind but she knew it came with risks. The argument of 'a minor injury is better than a fatal one from the Savages' came to mind and cleared her judgment.

Looking behind her to see the others approaching, she nodded and at them before running in the direction of one of the towers.

Seungcheol caught onto her idea and groaned. He didn't feel like heights were their friends, especially after the waterfall incident. He would rather avoid it, but again it seems inevitable to him that they will encounter heights.

Choa stopped dead in her tracks as Savage soldiers appeared from around the homes in front of her. She stared wide eyed at them and instinctively took a few cautious steps back.

Everyone else stopped and looked around at the Savages that were pointing their deadly weapons at them. They looked just as worried as they did.

"Kill them!" A Savage demanded. The guards hesitated before starting to approach the intruders before them.

Minho shook some of the excess blood of his machete before lashing out at the guard closest to them. His quick movements caused the guard to have his lower abdomen cut, making it bleed heavily and for him to let out a cry of pain before falling to the floor clutching his side.

After that, everyone started to attack.

Hyeri pulled her dagger out from its thigh holder before turning quickly and lunged at a guard, stabbing him swiftly and calmly in the neck. She let go and let the man fall to the ground, before she looked and sought out her next victim. As she turned, her eyes saw a large metal sword head right for her face. She ducked down quickly and avoided the weapon striking her face. Spinning with the small blade intwined in her own fingers, she lodged the dagger in the guards thigh and pulled out a small metal sharp. She naturally stabbed the man in his back with the piece of metal and pulled it out after she was satisfied it did its job.

The guard fell face down onto the paved floor and quickly started so shake and twitch. His veins began to become painfully prominent  and his lips turned blue. His eyes going blood shot and it wasn't too long before he started coughing up blood. Hyeri was careful not to prick herself with her own poisoned weapon as she placed it back in its holder inside her black, and worn leather jacket.

Kai Ling and Minah stayed in the centre where there was slightly more distance between them and the attacking authority, as their arrows would have more effect and the chances of close range attacks were lower. They picked off the guards that were trying to help their comrades attack their group members. It was successful until one guard who was trying to be clever suddenly attacked Minah.

Minah saw them at the last minute as they slashed in her direction. She jumped out the way but the silver blade clipped her thigh. She grunted but quickly pushed the thought of pain to the back of her head.

She smirked as she placed her bow on her back and the arrow in its holder, then grabbed the dagger from the holder on her upper thigh. The guard focused again on Minah and was annoyed by her playful look. He lashed again and missed, the heavy sword making his body turn to the side as he was unable to have full control. Minah used this to her advantage and lunged at the armoured guard, grabbing his breast piece and placed her leg behind his. Using her strength, she was able to throw the man to the ground with a solid sound coming from the impact of us body against the cold stone ground. She then crouched down and stabbed the man in the chest where she knew she would kill him. The face was an obvious choice to go for, but one she doesn't want to do as it's just a little too brutal for her taste.

She stood back up and looked over to Kai Ling who was still picking off guards. Satisfied no more close call attacks would crop up again, Minah grabbed her bow and arrow and started to help Kai Ling again.

Choa saw an opening in the circle of attacking authority surrounding them and yelled for the others to follow, and quickly.

She paced out the enclosed wall of people and darted towards the tall wooden structure. Minah followed behind her quickly and aimed her arrow at one of the guards looking over the tower. She shot him before the guy could even pull his own bow up.

Kai Wen looked to the other tower and saw the guard posted there was trying to aim at them. He nudged Kai Ling who was running next to him and pointed at the enemy. She pulled up her own bow and shot the man with ease.

"Nice." Kai Wen said breathlessly as he saw the man's pierced body fall and disappear behind the surrounding homes.

The group stopped and Choa started climbing quickly up, trying to see if her idea was actually doable.

They all turned and faced the incoming enemies that had stopped also and were pointing their sharp blades at them. Some were watching the still group, and some were watching the nimble girl climbing up their structure.

"If they all attack at once from this angle, and with us being cornered like this, there's no chance we can take them all." Kai Wen mumbled to Ilseul who was trying to judge the situation. "There's no way, we're horribly outnumbered."

"Cover me guys. Don't let anyone disturb me or we're all fucked." Ilseul said to the people surrounding him, and patted Kai Wen in his back.

They watched in curiosity as he crouched onto the floor and took his heavy coat off quickly, revealing his veiny and black tainted arms. The others were alert and on edge with the potential danger in front of them, but also curious as to what the mysterious man was doing now.

Ilseul grabbed the murky green crystal from around his neck and yanked it off. He held the coloured object in one hand and reached into his satchel with another. When he pulled his hand back out, it was coated in a purple power, his balled up fist suggested he had a handful of it in his grasp.

Choa reached the top and flat platform of the tower and looked over the side that was next to the layered wire fencing. She judged the drop and knew that from this height no major injuries could occur, if they jumped the correct way that is.

"It's good guys." Choa called down. The guards looked at her and then back at the group of rebels in front of them. Realising the situation they started to to attack in small groups.

Minho, Han Sung, and Hyeri moved forwards to attack the most brutal and bold of the Savages. Kai Ling climbed halfway up the wooden structure and started to shoot the ones at the back that were hesitant to join the brawl.

Minah followed her and spotted archers cropping up on some of the hut roofs.

"Go up and get a better shot for the archers on the roofs." Minah called up to Kai Ling who nodded and climbed up to the platform Choa was on. Minah took her place and shot at the ones on the ground.

Dawon got her hammers out but didn't want to use them. She only swung at ones that got too close for her liking, smashing their skulls in. Seungcheol was next to her and clasped a hand over his mouth as he saw one of her victims fall to the paved floor, a pool of blood mixed with fine pieces of skull spread next to his feet. His stomach turned and as much as he wanted to help in some way, his head started spinning. He thought it would be best to not throw up, than to try and help and end up being sick over everyone and cause more problems.

Kai Wen got one of his katanas in his strong grasp and made it his job to protect Ilseul. Fighting isn't his forte, but right now an escape was being planned and there was nothing he could do to help but try and lower the numbers of enemies before they tried to escape.

He looked to his left and saw an iron plated man swing at him. He ducked and twisted his hand and sliced up in a diagonal motion, cutting the man at his exposed hip and shoulder. The man doubled over in pain, but blindly swung again which Kai Wen easily missed. Kai Wen drew his sword back before plunging it into the chainmail on the man's upper chest.

The pierced soldier let out a shaky breath as Kai Wen removed his sword, and before the dead soldier could hit the ground he was already clashing blades with another.

Ilseul pressed the murky green crystal against his thick lips and closed his eyes. His hand holding the strange power was held out to his side.

"Omnes vulnerant, ultima necat.
  Pulvis et umbra sumus.
  Omnia mors aequat.
  Mortem omnibus."

He muttered in Latin, the spoken words brushing against the crystal. The object against this lips started to glow and his hand holding the powder tensed with every word that past his lips.

He muttered the words over and over, his voice getting deeper and his mind going beyond his own head. When the crystal became almost blindingly bright, he slowly opened his dark and absent looking eyes. With one swift motion, he swung his arm holding the powder in a controlled movement. His hand opened and the purple power swept across the now blood stained floor that was also littered with bodies.

The purple dust that looked as if it was hovering, spread like water over the ground. It grazed the other members' legs without consequence, but as it reached the legs of an enemy soldiers it took a completely different turn.

The once light purple powder turned distressingly dark as it made contact with the soldiers. The cloud branched off and rose up, wrapping itself around the guards' bodies like vines. Having properties like a solid object, the dust pulled the men down and swallowed them in its purple particles that were masking the ground.

Ilseul didn't rise and blended with the purple powder, his dark and hooded eyes watching and seeing everything. He waited a moment until all the soldiers before him were engulfed in the mysterious substance.

Taking a deep breath, making the purple dust glow down his throat he closed his eyes and mouth briefly. He suddenly opened both and let out a stong breath. His breath blew the dust away, making it float up and scatter in the air and was soon dissolved into nothing and his crystal dimmed until there was no light source from it.

Seungcheol looked at the scene before him and grabbed his mouth and turned away. This really want what he ever wanted to see.

Everyone stared in shock and bewilderment at the mass of what they knew as bodies before them. All that remained was the armour of the soldiers and odd pieces of flesh.

Ilseul rose and tied the crystal around his neck again before brushing the left over powder on his hand off. A small cloud of it floated to towards Kai Wen who flinched from it.

"Let's go before the archers call for backup." Ilseul said casually as he picked up and put his jacket on again. He looked back at the horrific scene briefly and then started climbing the tower.

Minah climbed the rest of the way up and helped Kai Ling shoot the archers that never seemed to go down in numbers.

The rest of the members climbed up, getting away from the remains of the Savages below them. Once most were there Choa pointed to the drop they would have to go down in order to get out.

"We have to jump but you must be so careful." She explained. "Don't you dare keep your legs straight or they will snap. Bend them or crouch on impact so they don't shatter. Also try and make your footing stable, we don't want an ankle going." She said in a serious and authoritative tone. "I'll go first and try to copy me."

Everyone's eyes followed her as she climbed over the wooden railing and held herself up, her hands gripping the wood behind her. The ends of her shoes stuck over the edge of the platform and she took a deep breath. Without much hesitation she leaped off and planted her feet on the grass outside the camp, her knees bending and she rolled forward.

"Yeah, I can't do that." Dawon stated. Choa heard and looked up.

"You don't have to do the roll, I'm just use to doing these things when running from animals all the time." She called up. Her words didn't seem to reassure Dawon however.

Han Sung's head turned as he heard the sound of footsteps again, and his eyebrows raised for a moment before falling to his usual poker face.

"Go now. There's archers here." He demanded to the group. Everyone heard and one by one they started to jump off successfully. The last few were Minho, Han Sung, and Dawon.

"You go, little 'un." Minho promoted Dawon. She climbed over the edge and stared down at the drop. Her heart started racing as she thought she couldn't do it. "I don't mean to rush you, but we need to go no-" Minho started to say, but an arrow zoomed past his face making him stop his sentence mid way. "Go go go!" He said louder, as more arrows were shot their way. He crouched down with Han Sung and looked up at the girl.

Dawon panicked even more and couldn't bring herself to jump, even though she knew she and the others were in immediate danger.

"Dawon go. Now!" Han Sung ordered in a loud and cold voice that scared her.

"I can't! My hands won't let go!" Dawon exclaimed in a shaky voice, as her hands gripped tightly by their own accord.

"She's scared stiff." Minho said to him as he saw her knuckles go white from the strength of her grip on the wood.

Minho looked over to see the archers and to see their location, when he saw one of them aim at Dawon. He acted on instinct and stood up from his crouched position and went to grab Dawon. He let out a grunt as his shoulder was pierced by the arrow instead. Dawon's head snapped to look at him with large and terrified eyes.

"Dawon go. They're shooting at you." Minho said softly as he turned his body so Dawon couldn't see the arrow in his back. He didn't want to scare the poor girl anymore.

"Okay... Okay... I can do this..." She nodded and muttered to herself. "One... Two... Three!" She counted down and to her own surprise, leaped on three. As she wasn't expecting to actually jump herself, she let out a scream as she fell and she wasn't able to get her legs in the right position.

Minho watched as the young girl jumped, but his heart sank as he heard her agonised cry a few moments after. He looked behind him and glanced at Han Sung who nodded at him. Despite the arrow painfully lodged in his shoulder, he stood up and quickly jumped off the tower and onto the forest floor. Han Sung followed quickly after.

The two men saw a wailing Dawon on Seungcheol's back, her arms and legs wrapped around his torso tightly. Minho was about to ask if she was alright but a shower of arrows rained down on them, missing them as they were terribly off target.

Most of the group apart from Minah and Ilseul ran as fast as they could into the black forest.

Ilseul flicked Seungcheol's lighter, creating a flame. Minah held her arrow head that was covered in cotton over it, and when it was alight she aimed it at the tower they used to escape from. She held her breath and aimed the arrow perfectly, when she released the string the arrow shot and struck the wooden structure. The fire ate away at the wood it made contact with and slowly started to spread.

The pair stared running in the direction the others ran in, the sounds of a crying Dawon leading them mostly as it was so dark the others were invisible to them.

Minah glanced behind her and saw the smoke infused with wisps of glowing ash rising over the forest. She decided to burn the tower as it would show them how far away they are from the camp when they're in the forest where everything but the night sky was visible.

They didn't run for long until they saw the others crowding around the sobbing girl. Ilseul moved forward and pushed Choa and Hyeri out the way so he could see the girl.

"You didn't have good footing did you?" He asked in monotone as he looked at her snapped ankle. She looked up at him with her crying eyes and shook her head before letting out a choked sob and grabbed the shin of her injured leg. "I'll fix it." He muttered as he crouched down.

"I'm sorry." She said in an unstable voice.

"Don't over think next time."

A/N

The Latin Ilseul says I had to translate myself so I'm sure it's wrong.

What it should mean is :
All wound, the last one kills.
We are dust and shadow.
Death makes all things equal.
Death to all.

It's crappy I know, but I gotta work with what I got and that's the best I could find ahaha!

Sorry for the lack of updates, it was hard to finalise ^^
