MOVIE >scene40> - A Dorm. A Delinquent. A Girl.

Jessie sprang towards his friend and began helping him in from the window. Rihanna watched with the hairs on the back of her neck standing on ends. She just stood there, watching Jessie struggle to get Lexis inside from the fairly medium size window.

The memory of what happened earlier today suddenly clouded her thoughts. His words. His deadly eyes. His threats. The fear, the sick deep fear in the pit of her stomach as he mercilessly threw knives, knives, while she hoped every single second that one of them wouldn't pierce into her back, her spine, forever paralyzing her.

She whimpered and pressed her knuckles against her lips. Suddenly more afraid of him than she ever was, afraid of how easily he can access personal space.

"Rihanna, don't just stand there." Jessie exclaimed, breathless as he tried to pull Lexis in.

She took a quick step back and glanced at Jessie then Lexis.

She was petrified. His dark, manipulative and hateful presence. She didn't want to come near him, in fact, she didn't want to even stay in the same room.

Her body was already positioned to run for the door.

"Help. Rihanna, what's wrong? Why aren't you helping?!" Jessie grunted as he tried to get Lexis' legs in from the window, but failed. Lexis, who seemed to be slowly losing consciousness, attempted to help, but he did as much as lifting his shoulders before he gave up to weakness.

She watched. She couldn't move. She didn't want to help him. She didn't want him to be here. Why was he here?! Why out of all places in this Academy did he have to come to their dorm?!

"Rihanna!" Jessie now insisted with a harsh tone, exhausted. He suddenly remembered her distaste for Lexis. "Don't think of him as Lexis. Think of him as a sick person who needs help. Now would you please, please, not just stand there?!"

She let out a frustrated cry! She just stood there, knuckles pressed against her lips, while her body shook. A memory in her head threatened to break through. Looking at him a lot of memories tried to break through. She hated him.

Hated him with her past, future and present.

Jessie looked at her now worried, confused by her unstable reaction. "R–Rihanna. What's wrong?"

She shook her head again as she wiped her eyes.

"Please. Rihanna, I can't do this alone." He grunted as he took hold of Lexis' clothes to keep him from falling back out of the window. He was suddenly losing grip of Lexis. "Just think of him as if he was someone else. Think of him as a sick person in desperate need of our help."

She wished she had taken her candy. She wished that all of this happened after she had the pill that would have made encountering all of this a little more easier. She might have been cooperative then. But her candy wasn't in her blood stream, so accepting all of this was as hard as it could get for her.

Nonetheless, in favor of Jessie's distraught expression, she closed her eyes shut and while breathing in and out slowly, she repeated one verse in her head: think of him as a sick person! Think of him as a sick person! Think of him as a sick person!

Jessie's face was piling up with sweat at the sick person's weight. He needed help. Not just the sick person, but Jessie as well.

She exhaled a long breath and quickly made her way across the room. She propped the sick person's legs inside, then with all of her strength, helped Jessie carry him to the bed. After they had him lay there with his head positioned on the pillow, being more experienced with things like this, she went straight to being in charge.

She touched his forehead, the heat under the back of her hand was ridiculous. A fever. He had an unbearable high fever. Another smell made its way into her nostrils. A reek of something very unpleasant.

Alcohol.

"He was drinking again." Jessie said, worried to death. The news he received from the hospital must have been bad.

"His shoes." Rihanna said to Jessie. "Take them off of his feet. He's got a really high fever too."

Jessie promptly did so.

She looked up at Jessie after she had the sick person covered with the bed sheet. "I'm going to go get cold water and a towel from the kitchen. I'll get something for his stomach too. While I'm gone, could you please fully undress him and put him in your bathrobe?"

Jessie nodded and anxiously kept on touching the sick person's face. Here, there, as if somehow he could put his temperature down by sucking it into his palm.

She left the room as quickly as she could, realizing how desperately she needed to get out of there and away from him.

When she came back, the sick person's eyes were closed and Jessie was just in the process of laying him back down on the bed. His clothes now were thrown on the floor and Jessie's bathrobe was in place.

She placed the bowl of cold water on the dresser next to Jessie's bed and soaked the towel she had inside, then quickly squeezed the extra water out. She put the cold towel on the sick person's forehead and let it soak in some of the heat. After a few more of that, she left the towel in the bowl and told Jessie to help her straighten up the sick person into a sitting position.

It was hard at first to get any of the greasy beef soup down his throat since he seemed to have fallen asleep, but after a couple of more tries between her and Jessie, he was able to drain most of its content.

She looked at Jessie, suddenly remembering something. "A bucket, paper bags, anything. Get me anything that will hold his puke."

Jessie looked around the room wildly for the next few seconds, then finally took out the filled bag from his small trash bin and brought the can over.

Holding it under the sick person's chin, she pounded a couple of times on his back, and held her breath as heaves and heaves of vomit came out into the trash can.

After she was sure he was done, she let him lay his head back against the pillow and handed the trash bin to Jessie. "Please get this stench out of the room. I'm a girl after all."

She grabbed the cold towel and placed it back on the sick person's head, while Jessie put his shoes on and made his way out of the door.

She was a second away from stopping him and telling him that he could just pour the puke into their bathroom toilet, before she realized that she needed him out of the room anyway.

When the door locked, she changed the sick person's cold towel one more time before she went over to her side of the room for a break.

Lexis was her enemy. The only being in Dawn Academy that shattered her peace. His dark, manipulative, hateful, and cold face. The way he disregards everyone–rejects everyone. Mistreats everyone. It was an all familiar episode, one that was very unpleasant to watch. A replay of something she didn't want to be near. Nevertheless touch and help.

But now she had gone too deep into the process of helping him for her to stop. Jessie would be disappointed. She was sure, if anything, after this night passes she'll be more to Jessie. Lexis was his good friend after all, or so it seems. And she might as well have saved him, not just from his sick state, but also from going to the infirmary and having to explain his deplorable situation. How much trouble would he have been in then?

So she did the only thing she could do that she knew will help her get through this, she took out two tablets of her candy and grabbed Jessie's bottle of water, and devoured the feeling of the pills going down her throat.

Considering her current situation, she grabbed another and did the same again.

After she finished drinking, she put down the bottle of water to close the cap and realized, to her complete horror, that Lexis was watching her blandly.

Her heart pounded in her chest as she realized that someone had seen her take the medication. And she was sure it was shown all over her face. The fright, the awkwardness, the loss of never having to do it discreetly. She gripped the bottle of water, and the plastic crackled under her fingers as she stared at him with deep fear.

Truth be told, at this very moment, is when she really truly felt like she had been 'caught'.
